Evo IX has a revised turbo with stronger stock cams and internals and also has a different front bumper and fenders. It also comes with a MIVEC system that is similar to VTEC in Hondas but only controls the lift within the valves.
theyre really identical cars... mechanically, the evo 9 has a bigger turbo and a MIVEC system that was added on to the 4g63 in the 2006+ models. same motor in both cars. same potential for tuning. exterior wise ONLY differences are darkened headlights, different front bumper and wheels on the 9 also CF on the inner part of the spoiler. interior 9 get all leather with CF strip on dash. honestly u could buy an 8 and swap front bumpers with a 9 and 99.9% of anybody wouldnt know the difference.
