Despite the lack of a redesign, it's actually refreshing to see a more analog vehicle like this. I actually really like this car, never thought I'd say that about the Quattroporte.
Actually the discontinued GranTurismo MC Sport was THE best Maserati by far. The only one hand-built with excellent fit and finish in the original factory in Modena, with 100% Ferrari V8 engine from Maranello. ;)
Alfa Romeo 4C? this is not the same catergory, very good car, but Alpine A110 S is way better. If you talk about 8C she had a V8 of the same family a great design, but this car is a total disaster on tricky road or track... like your muscles cars but costs x 20 when you buy it and the maintenance only to be able to drive it.
This motor has been in the quattroporte since 2014 I believe in the GTS. I have a 15 Quattroporte GTS. Same motor, 523hp. Trust me though, I wish my engine looked like that and had 580hp lol.
I like this channel a lot, since I have gotten my license around 4 1/2 months ago (Yes I am a fairly new driver) I've been always finding excuses to drive places and have never let down a driving experience whether it be near or far. Keep up the good content!
Have always had a big place in my heart for Maserati... taught my little son to say "Maserati " when he was tiny... he nailed it, before he learnt to speak properly! Thanks again for a fantastic review :)
Owned an 07 Quattroporte years ago and LOVED driving it! I've driven many sportier and faster cars than it since and haven't felt that solid planted down, I just want to go fast feel that quattroporte gave me.
I have a 2017 Quattroporte SQ4 and love it! The suspension in normal mode is a little floaty for me and you will bottom out the car if you drive fast over a speed bump. But the exhaust sound in sport mode sounds awesome especially when shifting between gears you can hear the exhaust kind of boom. It almost sounds like a canon shot. Mine is white exterior with red interior and it gets looks and comments all the time. I had someone park beside me one day in kind of a beat up car and as I got out he said he parked beside me to keep someone else from parking too close and dinging me. LOL. If you want to stand out from the ordinary crowd of German cars then you won't regret this Maserati!
Always loved the Quattroporte , terrified of the depreciation that steamrollers you as soon as you drive it from the dealership. However, they are a great buy second hand with full manufacture warranty. I no longer need the big four door high speed cruiser but if I did it’s be on the list. I had the GranTurismo for 3 years and that was awesome, loyal and fault free to drive. Now we’re in a Porsche 911 which is totally different but great fun also

A great review by a driver who drives cars hard and well in real world conditions without destroying the rear tyres in 20 miles like Jeremy 'ooh look at me, I know how to drift' Clarkson!
Wow, I was very surprised by the way that engine looked... Very surprised. I am not a huge engine guy, I am more a feeling the power kind of guy, but that is a nice engine. The only thing I don't like about the car is that while it is absolutely beautiful, some ambient lighting as well as a metal accented steering wheel instead of those plastic buttons would go a long way in my humble opinion. I also like the redesigned tail-lights and metal speaker grilles would spruce up the cabin as well.
I think for some amount of people that like rwd (most of them ? all of them ?), it's this little "danger" red beacon light in the back of the head that gives this thrill, but it's so rewarding. On the dry not so much unless you have tons of jam or you really pushing. But as soon as the condictions changes a slight bit, wet patch, winter etc, you know you'll have to manage your inputs an this is what's cool (I like beeing involved in the driving part), sure, on a daily basis, in a bad climate region, having awd safety is a peace of mind and you know its works so good. But as a fun/second car or what, having something that can bite you is also part of the rwd fun. What I liked about the e39 m5 the first time, it's how docile it is at low speeds, but as you open throttle, man it's a nice car to be in !
For me, this is definitely the most desirable luxury saloon on the market today! not contrived, old skool, single-minded Italian mien, while rivals are becoming ever more boring, contrived capitalistic, self-driving, tablets interiors, etc...

Got the opportunity to drive a Lavante Trofeo last year, I was actually quite impressed! I haven't much liked most of Maserati's recent product line, the last great car they built IMO being the GranTurismo, but it stuck around soooo long that by the end of its production it seemed like such an old, and overpriced design. With the Lavante's, Ghibli's, and QP's... though I DO understand the complaints of shared Dodge buttons, and less than stellar quality in some areas, if you can look past these low points, the handling, sound, and overall driving experience is quite stellar. I was surprised how well the big Trofeo on its squishy air suspension can actually firm up and really handle on a winding back road! And there is something to be said about it being such a unique choice in the ultimate SUV market. Though you may see V6 new Maserati's around every day, its not all that often you see one of these new Trofeo or GTS's....
