I'm a German car enthusiast and have owned a couple of BMWs and Benz and still continue to own them, I would pick this particular car over any German, yes, this Maserati is that much serious, it's beautiful, it's elegant, it's sexy, it's a proper sounding V8, it's fresh, it's flawless, this Maser is a master piece, I'm just wondering why they haven't been making this car... Well done Maserati..

Anyone who's a little bent out of shape about the four second zero-to-sixty needs to remember that this isn't a Ferrari. The first priority of Maserati isn't to be the fastest car you can buy. It's about style, comfort, sportiness, beauty, exquisite materials and attention to detail. It's about revving up that amazing engine and belting out a beautiful symphony of snarls and growls that only Maserati knows how to deliver and turns heads wherever you go. And they certainly delivered on this car.

I had a Maserati Ghibli GT for 10 years. I still remember German sports cars trying to catch up with me on the autobahn. The middle acceleration was fantastic in that car. I fully agree with you that Maserati has taken another path to fill into the luxury sports sedan segment with this Trofeo. Lovely spec but just like you, I want a car that is wrapped around me and does not feel big and heavy. That’s my Giulia Quadrifoglio. It hardly better gets any better.

thanks for posting and also sharing your experience with the older Maseratis, i loved those older cars but customers in the USA hated the F1 gearbox and it turned many customers away from the cars and into more Mercedes and BMW purchases so they made the decision to transform the brand into what it is today and it has worked to make them more profitable. When I got my Alfa Romeo QV i said this was the car Maserati should have made all along but it would not fit with their brand image right now. Still interested in the new MC20 one day

I have a 2017 Ghibli S Zenga Edition in Blu Emozione, carbon fiber trim, Skyhook Electronic Damping Control & 21" Titano wheels… it's fantastic. This 2021 Trofeo completely trumps it of course, but my complaint with the car in this vid is about it being so meticulously configured only to fail to have the Trident & Trofeo logos on headrests use actual stitching… looks a million times classier than the raised/embossed look.

I just bought one of these but added the Fuoriserie Corse ($17k custom color options). After 600 miles of daily use, you finally get comfortable with the size and feel, and ohmygawd, you CAN call it a sports sedan/saloon. It does feel viscerally wrapped around you, I promise. There's very little you can throw at it on the twisties that it won't just comply with. True 50/50 weight distribution, 1.2Gs cornering ability on the 21" wheels, 1.1Gs braking ability. The thing is a beast, and it starts a conversation wherever it goes-which an RS5/S63 won't.

Excellent review. Very true what you said about the driving experience of a car like the Giulia and other cars that have a very visceral feel when driving. Just a more raw and pure driving experience. I have a tuned Giulia 2.0 and even though it's not a QV, it's a very satisfying driving experience. You really feel connected to the car when driving. For comparison, I drove a Kia Stinger GT and that car felt like a Cadillac compared to my Giulia.

Check-engine light coming on every 3 months and the dealer wanting $1000 just to replace a screw. Best day of my life was ridding of it. And the Giulia Quad is so problematic I wouldn't own it even if you paid me to. Good luck on your chipbox, hope it stays in one piece.

They are reliable, it is the crybabies that cop these at salvage auctions and crab online that they have issues fully linked to the scenario that put it in their hands, and the eventually get parted out to spread the disease. Or, they get a fresh one, and spike the vvt cams at a redlight, a dozen times a day. These do not get bad cylinder sleeves, weak waterpumps, a pile of chains and tensioners on the trans side of the engine, hell, they are even port injected...these are great automobiles. The one real issue- the security system has a somewhat high drain on the battery. If you know it has to be stationairy for over 2 weeks, hook up the provided battery tender.

It looks to be stamped from some material as an after thought rather than a piece that looks built specific and in detail. That front grille trident should have more attention to detail given to it, just my opinion...

Ironically, the heaviest object on the highway is allowed to glue it's tread on to it's tires, with no ID or serial # if the "gator" causes a highway accident or damage. Out here, it is a crusty manual car, that has the gas milage to make up for 50 mph max backroads, not quite on a direct path, but with less stops and semis.

I know that i will feel it but i'd like to know what to expect. no comparison the M5 is far more sporty in nature this is more of a high speed grand touring car. it really depends what you want in a car, the M5 also has way more tech and the AWD feature and much more so it depends what brands and cars align with your passion and interests. please comment back once you drive the Trofeo with your feedback against the M5 i would like to hear your thoughts and compare to my very own. Has it gotten better? Slightly. Engine is a big upgrade, there are small designs here and there that make a difference. The Ghibli as a whole doesn't have that reputation anymore. They are considered cheap and any one with this latest car is just gonna blend in with the older cars. It's like wasting more money for something that's inflated. It's just a bad buy.
