I love how many people all around the world are finally discovering the incomparable John Farnham. We Aussies have known how good he is for decades, and we're more than happy to share him.
You selfish ba@#@%ds kept him to your selves. LOL just kidding, i love you Aussies. You are correct when you call him the Voice. He can sing the phone book and make it sound good.
One thing that makes him different is that you hear every word clearly. While flexing that magnificent voice he still enunciates perfectly. John was lead singer with Little River Band for a while. Thank god he went solo again
The song John wrote called "Burn For You" was written for his beloved wife and tells you everything you need to know about why he chose to stay home in Oz.
Robert Plant singing Black Dog is so good John Farnham: Hold my beer... Love Robert Plant but John just plain outsings him in a warm-up in an empty stadium. The man is a genius.
This was the regular sound check song. Can you imagine watching this? Thankfully a sound engineer (I believe) recorded this OFF THE DESK! That’s unheard of, no post mix. John Farnham is the GOAT
Imagine being one of his kids growing up. All of a sudden John busts out 'GET OFF YOUR ASS AND CLEAN YOUR ROOOOMMM....YOU KNOW YOUR MUM'S GONNA BE HOME SOOOOONNN' :D
I been a Zepplin fan for years…then John come along..when I heard this and other songs I been to 5-6 Of John’s concerts..I love John’s version just as much as Zepplins…woooohooooo!!! 👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺💞
I think the guitarist for this performance is Brett Garsed, or it may have been Stuart Fraser (RIP), formerly with Noiseworks (another rocking Aussie group with lead singer Jon Steven’s)… check out Brett’s impressive list of credentials outside of his work with John; he’s amazing!
Well done on the 7K Monty! This audio was from a sound check before a concert night; he’s truly awesome! I think you would love “All our sons and daughters” from the Chain Reaction tour of 1990… brilliant guitar, played by both Jack Jones aka Irwin Thomas and Phil Buckle…
John Farnham has collaborated with so many international artists. Celine Dion is a huge fan of John's as is Tom Jones. He has sung duets with both. He has toured with Olivia Newton John, Stevie Nick's, Lionel Ritchie and also had a stint with Little River Band for 5 years.
And not forgetting Brian May (who joined him onstage for the bushfire appeal concert). He was invited to front Queen after Freddy's passing but word is he politely declined so he could stay home in Australia with his family. It's reported that was also the reason he didn't take his talent to the global market including the USA.
Actually the relationship between Brian May, Queen & John Farnham stems back many years to when he was their support act for the Australian leg of their 1977 World Tour. They all became great mates & he worked with them many times over the years.
He headed up Little River Band for a couple of years. Don’t think that went too well though. Have read that the band members had issues with the focus being taken from them; don’t know if this is true.
According to the book "John Farnham - The Untold Story", John was told to keep the onstage gags to a minimum, as they were "a serious band". Technical staff were instructed to shorten his microphone lead and tape the microphone stand to the stage to restrict his movements around the stage.
During July 2003, Farnham worked with Queen to produce a new version of "We Will Rock You" for the 2003 Rugby World Cup, released on his greatest hits album, "One Voice". Media reports of Queen asking Farnham to join the band were subsequently denied by both Queen's Brian May and Farnham.
We all have a favourite musical instrument that we love to listen to. Johns voice has a tone in it that just captivates you. I don’t love all of his songs. (There’s not many though) But boy I love that tone. I love hearing him. He’s like the pied piper. He just keeps drawing you in. You just keep waiting for him to hit those high notes and The higher he gets the more beautiful it sounds. Sending love and good vibes to John and his family 💕💕
Well done. Love your reactions. John has many, many great songs of his own, but we're suggesting covers to show you his variety from songs you would know. Love you to react to his cover of ACDC's It;s a Long way to the Top (if you wanna rock'n'roll) also with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Another rock song but with a special brand of Farnham rock and fun.
That's why he does this song as a warm up, so he doesn't blow his vocal cords out. Remember he sings at high pitch for alot of his songs and his concerts would go for over 2and half hours. No real break. Jimmy warms up for an hour before his concerts. 👍
Great Reaction, mate. Love John Farnham & really enjoy watching reactors checking out these awesome songs we've heard for years. Congrats on 7k. Merry Christmas
John Farnham also did a cover of the Beatles song called "Help" . Apparently John Lennon or Paul McCartney rang him and said he loved John's version of their huge hit. John Farnham was very young at the time. Worth a listen live on TH-cam.
Australia is dubbed "The Lucky Country", and it's reaction videos like this that make me reflect & appreciate the truth of it. This is the type of extraordinary talent that we take for granted. This is our norm.
John can do anything! Listen to this, then listen to him with Anthony Warlow doing opera, then listen to him with Little River Band, then doing "live" production of Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar. I saw him live, many years ago at a pub in Frankston. The man is amazing ... and so down to earth.
This song is actually his warm up song backstage before starting the show. His voice is astonishing. Australians love Farnham since the late 60s. He is a magician with any music. L
Yeah not bad for a voice warm up If you want to see the real man behind the voice watch this one he real personality typical Aussie bloke ANGELS with Lisa Edwards his back up singer Also watch this one as well vendetta fields and Lindsay fields live AMAZING GRACE these are john's other back up singers he always gives someone the front spot in the concerts weather musician or singers Plenty more he does opera but not what type you think again shows his personality Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
Listen to original and Robert Plant doesn’t sing Black Dog at full belting range like John does. And Robert Plant was in his 20 early 30s while Led Zeppelin was active . While John was in mid 40’s when this was recorded at a sound check 1994 . He would’ve been relaxed being a sound check zero pressure. The guitarists would’ve Brett Garsed who has been in The Farnham Band for 36 years . Second guitarist Stuart Fraser originally from Noiseworks , Stuart joined the Farnham band after Noiseworks broke up in 1993 . Stuart Fraser sadly passed away in 2019 . John never replaced him .
Monty was asking about guitar on Playing to Win clip. That was Jack Jones from Southern Sons. Brett and Stuart Fraser came after he and Phil Buckle who joined John’s band after Southern Sons split.
@Glenn Cameron Brett was playing with John from the mid to late 80s (he plays in the band for John's concert with the MSO) before Irwin Thomas (Jack Jones) joined the band to replace him. It was Brett who was playing the guitar on the Whispering Jack and Age of Reason albums. He then went over to the US to play with Nelson. Brett then returned in the 2000s to tour with John during 'The Last Time' tour. He also gave his time during the Studio recordings of the Chain Reaction and Romeo's Heart albums.
Nuts right? And just a mic check. I truly wonder why they never went for it in concerts. Maybe it was too far outside the Farnham brand??? But how could they not work this in?
That’s exactly the reason. His concert audiences generally range from toddlers to grand parents. This song shows his incredible vocal talent, but has a much narrower audience than his music.
Cant you read, this was a sound check pre his concerts and he never performed it anywhere else. A sound guy recorded it on a whim. Also I am a full blooded LZ fan and even I can recognise how effing great this is, what a tool
This was the guy's sound check before the show. He takes on Robert Plant as a warm up.
The greatest male vocalist I’ve ever heard 💯
Farnsey's the GOAT! No one can out sing him, any genre.

I said the same thing on another reaction channel..
The song John wrote called "Burn For You" was written for his beloved wife and tells you everything you need to know about why he chose to stay home in Oz.
Not bad for a warm up, amazing version.
Lucky someone thought to record it.😊
One of the greatest sound checks ever
Robert Plant singing Black Dog is so good
John Farnham: Hold my beer...
Love Robert Plant but John just plain outsings him in a warm-up in an empty stadium. The man is a genius.
And you can hear the words !!!
One interviewer that was at one of his sound checks said there is only one thing better than a John Farnham concert and that is his sound checks.
That was Richard Wilkins!
Any genre this great man can’t sing. If he did just rock he would be the biggest rock star in the world, he’s much better then Robert Plant.
Great reaction John has no failures every song is perfect.
I been a Zepplin fan for years…then John come along..when I heard this and other songs I been to 5-6 Of John’s concerts..I love John’s version just as much as Zepplins…woooohooooo!!! 👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺💞
This song was his soundcheck from 1987 onwards.
It was Jack Jones in this performance
Definitely Brett Garsed on this as this was the warmup for his concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in Melbourne, performed.
He sounds like John Farnham 👍

He apparently was the first asked to audition.

Twice I’ve been in the same room as Jimmy when he warms up and both times scared the living shit outta me.
But not anybody could fill in for John...
oh so well said...
It's true! 😃🌏🪐🌕🙏🇦🇺🌸⭐🦉🏡🌴🌹🌹🌹
So true. Try and do a cover of him 😂
Great Reaction, mate. Love John Farnham & really enjoy watching reactors checking out these awesome songs we've heard for years. Congrats on 7k. Merry Christmas
When I do soundcheck I say 123 can you hear me lol.
You need watering because you're so dry!
🤣🤣
John Farnham also did a cover of the Beatles song called "Help" . Apparently John Lennon or Paul McCartney rang him and said he loved John's version of their huge hit. John Farnham was very young at the time. Worth a listen live on TH-cam.
❤❤❤❤❤
The guitarist is most likely Brett Garsed from John's band
Australia is dubbed "The Lucky Country", and it's reaction videos like this that make me reflect & appreciate the truth of it. This is the type of extraordinary talent that we take for granted. This is our norm.
He joined Little River Band back in the day

This will blow you away. Cheers Monty
Brilliant as usual - John Farnham I mean.
Congratulations babe for 7k.!!😍😍 Youre amazing
Sounds alot, alot, alot better than Robert Plant.
Yes he has collaborated with other artists, Jimmy Barnes, and Diesel.
John only did this as a sound check prior to some concerts, a sound technician recorded this, NOT in a studio, just live.
Please check out him and Ray Charles singing Imagine, it's rather good
John's range reaches from A2 to G5
This was a sound check before a concert !
Awesome.
Plant said thank goodness he sang this first otherwise he would have been a has been!!
Now everyone can go back and listen to Zeppelin and Robert plant . Ain't sayin' no more !
John's wife said he did even more amazing things singing in the shower. It blows my mind
Yeah not bad for a voice warm up
If you want to see the real man behind the voice watch this one he real personality typical Aussie bloke
ANGELS with Lisa Edwards his back up singer
Also watch this one as well vendetta fields and Lindsay fields live AMAZING GRACE these are john's other back up singers he always gives someone the front spot in the concerts weather musician or singers
Plenty more he does opera but not what type you think again shows his personality
Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
Yep ..
Just WOW.
Congrats on 7k.

This was a warm up sound check, never played live, never recorded except by a sound engineer who pushed record button
As a sound check goes I guess its went ok , LOL . Just think he can go from this to Opera like Grenada with Anthony Warlow .
Sadly John Farnham will probably never sing again. He had fairly major cancer surgery this year which probably destroyed that magnificent voice.
I believe, not sure, but I think it's Kevin boritch on guitar
Jack Jones from Southern Sons
@@glenncameron7145 pretty sure Kev did the lead tho...I might be wrong tho
@@grantgraham5201 just watched it again and it was Jack Jones and Phil Buckle from Southern Sons
Brett Garsed was definitely the guitarist for this concert with the MSO.
Does that Even sound like a "Mic-check??"
His audience would have LOVED it!!! I'm sorry he never sang it live. However I have listened to it many, many times since...one of my favourites
Guitar - Brett Garsed - the best
Yes, John was Queens first choice, but he is a family man and he could not leave his wife and children…
His diction is far better than Plant
This is a sound check song never performed live
Isn't John brilliant?!
Miley Cyrus copied this version ?
Can’t do much anymore…he’s had mouth cancer…
Lyrics are good but too rushed/forced IMO.
EL STINKO...Sorry...Dude is not Good on this Cover...he should just stick to his own music...
It was a sound check Mr mustard, not bad for a warm up I'd say
Well your comment is EL STINKO... your nobody opinion means Jack!
You obviously have no musical intelligence to recognise talent!!
Cant you read, this was a sound check pre his concerts and he never performed it anywhere else. A sound guy recorded it on a whim. Also I am a full blooded LZ fan and even I can recognise how effing great this is, what a tool
