John is just the bomb 🤩🎉 And the band just kills it too. ♥️ He didn't know the sound tech just decided to record it - really wish he sung it live 😂 Thanks George ❤️
Love the surprise of coming across a new Farnsey reaction. - my heart rate goes up with anticipation! I've seen his version of Long Tall Sally - from earlier days - he's just a phenomenal rock singer, I always wish there were more rock songs in his repertoire. Aug'24. UK. E ❤. (Annie's comment????? Whatever she's referring to - I wish you the same. ❤)
@@AnnieD.1982 it was a lovely memorial Annie. There were about 40 rellies and friends. I found out I'm going to be a great great Aunt in December. The next generation is starting and I'll start teaching them about John 😍♥️💖
John can sing any genre, he has the ability to adapt his voice to suit whatever he is singing. But to demonstrate the absolute purity of his voice you could react to Mary's Boy Child and You'll Never Walk Alone, at Carols by Candlelight. It's an old video but his voice is exquisite. It's hard to believe that this is the same voice that belts out All Our Sons and Daughters from the Chain Reaction tour. John is a chameleon. He really is one of a kind !!!
Well George, I would like to do that but I am an IT novice and try as I might I couldn't find your community post. (I'm old, actually a few months older than John.)
John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time, he can sing anything. To think this is just a warm up for John but for pretty much any other singer would really struggle with. The BV’s sound amazing and the band are epic. I think this is even better than the original, John is a god of the music world and just an all round great human being.
Thanks for playing my suggestion. John's the most versatile singer on the planet, he can sing any genre. I think he was just having fun on this one. Great reaction.😊
Thanks so much for this reaction. You are fast becoming one of the Farnsey Army of fans. I really beleive you are right in that John is the most versatile rock singer the world has ever seen. Most well known rock singers had the exposure through the US Music scene but between John's love for Australia and his family (and not wanting to be parted from them) and the US music industry not being able to pigeon hole him into a single genre, he never really got a chance over there. So his popularity was limited mostly to Australia. Although he was also very popular in parts of Europe for a while in the 80's and 90's and has a huge fan base following from Sweden and Germany and other part of Europe too. As others have said, he did front the Little River Band which was a soft rock Australian band in the early 80's. They were pretty big in the US with their original line up that included Glenn Shorrock as the lead. However when John took over as the lead from 82 - 86, he was a little too hard rock for the fans who liked the more gentle sound of Shorrock. Plus John was more of a solo singer and showman and the band felt like they had become a backing band for John and didn't like being upstaged I guess. It even got to a point where the band would tape his microphone stand to the ground to stop him working the stage. Anyway. You might be interested in checking out something from his time with LRB next. This is Help is on the Way from around 1982 during a Rock pop concert in Germany ..hope you like it m.th-cam.com/video/ZJig-snEsng/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the suggestion Carolyn, please comment it on my community post, easier to see it there! I am understanding more and more how John's career came to be. I guess many people felt intimidated by his talent like you said, could be why he never got his chance in the US, I still think it's funny how I have heard of other groups from Australia like Men At Work but not John.
It was obviously well practised over many concerts, since vocals and instruments were very precise. I guess it gave the sound check techs a really good baseline for the live concert.
The reason he flew under the radar is because he didn’t want to be apart from his family. He was happy to do tours and concerts in Australia and was well loved etc… Another brilliant singer that has sung with John Farnham is Jimmy Barnes their song is “when something is wrong with my baby” it’s a cover song can’t remember the name from top of my head right now as I’m about to walk out house to go to work. 😅 but yeah try that song with Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham. With diesel on guitar. He sings also at the end with guitar.
John did a stint in LRB (Little River Band) in the early 80s, he replaced the lead singer. He did it for a number of years, but left to resume his solo career...Lucky for us that he did. His next album soared in the charts and the hit single has become the unofficial Aussie Anthem ever since.. "Whispering Jack" Album, with "You're the Voice" taking off, remains the highest-selling album in Australia by an Australian act.
Pavarotti, the opera singer met and asked him how many operas had he been in? John said none, i'm a rock singer. Later on he did Gethsemane in JC Superstar he played JC. See him wih a real aussie opera star, Anthony Warlow onstage doing Grenada, in the Main Event, concerts. They called it elevates to high art, or something like that, there is a doco saying John can sing anything, with examples. He was in the US with the little River Band. The record execs who met him, "didn't like his voice" they couln't fit him into one genre... he came home broke, to his family, he ended up with his farm and his horses too.
Hi George, thanks for the ear tuneup prior to the video.😊 As others mentioned, John was in LRB, but what nobody mentioned was that he was the best singer they ever had. I’m a fan of LRB and have a bunch of their CDs spanning about two decades, and there’s no doubt when you hear him, which singer it is you’re listening to. Thanks for your great review. Back in the day, my day not yours, when Zep was new, every garage band in America did their music. There were lots of people who could copy Robert Plant, but they never got it just right. If you saw that Wayne’s World movie scene in the guitar shop, that was so accurate to the actual reality of the day. Every guitarist played, or attempted Stairway, and every garage band performed it.
I even attempted to play Stairway to Heaven on the guitar but only got so far, still think it’s one of the greatest songs ever. I might checkout LRB in the future. Thanks for the support Brad!
I've picked up on some of the history of LRB - is it right that there is now a band with that name, but with none of the original members - and that it is poor by comparison, people are disappointed when they see/hear them? Aug'24. UK. E ❤
John never flew under the radar. He had 2 no one hits when he was lead singer in Little river band. John preferred living at home in Australia. He was big in Germany with huge concerts. Then back home again . He’s sung here in Australia with umm Celine Dion, Tom Jones, Ray Charles, Olivia Newton-John Um? Did I forget anyone? Oh he sang in LRB for Lady Dianna and Prince Charles . After midnight, my brain just went to sleep lol
Hi George 😊 👋 Thank you for coming back to more Farnsey. He and his band do this song justice. I know not everyone will agree, but for me this version is better than the original. If you know amazing grace
Then look up his version with venetta fields Lindsay fields
They are his long time back up singer's
John did a stint in a Australian band called little river band
But hated it said never be in a band again to restrictive
Some hated him getting lime light and not the band to the point
They had his mic stand taped to the floor so he didn't walk around
Being centre of attention
John said he didn't regret it and it made him grow up as knew he had to be a solo singer
Then had to put everything into his solo career and was the change that made him today
Some of them from LRB are in his band or wrote songs for him that knew he had special talents
They knew he was so under rated and many other musicians knew he was as well and hoped for his success
They used to go overseas to play or sing hear these big names coming here they said you have to play with this guy
Soon as they herd him sing as the guys used to carry John singing on their phone these stars had to sing with john
There's many interviews throughout his career and a documentary just been don't about his career and other musicians speaking about him which in itself is rare to see while a person living
Typical John hasn't watched it as doesn't think,he's special and embarrassing watching himself
You can get all these on you tube if your interested in his background history
Just add he's untrained singer it's all natural talent
He even says it when asked in a interview how much music training did you do
Ton of stuff he did theatre played Jesus's as well amazing
Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
