It does continue and I would love to see The Wall reviewed divided into sides rather than following one song at a time. I don't feel like justice could be served minimizing the message into divided singular songs.
When I listen to this, I think of a workaholic business man, who has given his all to being successful, regardless of what he has to do. By hook or crook, so to speak. Only to realize he's been being used his whole life to the point of just being a stranger in his own home. Just remember that line about all the bad blood slowing and turning to stone. Dragging our subject down. It's important, because `the stone` is referred to several times. (Even on other albums.)

Very good and authentic analysis. (compared to many others.) - During the song I followed your facial expressions, your timing and attitude (Cold reading), and saw that the music touched you certainly when Gilmore started to sing/play. But, a little later even more by the phenomenal lyrics. Clever: most people have to make a choice: 1. follow the music, or 2. the lyrics... Because you can't absorb all that information at once. Yet your analysis became increasingly smoother. You can't act that. - Yep, if you want, you should listen to DOGS a few times on your own. When I first listened to Dogs (I was 16), I felt slightly hooked: so I absolutely wanted to hear the song a few more times to internalize all aspects of it. That was the same with Supper's Ready by Genesis (I was 12). Finally, I'm not sure but 1 brilliant line of the lyrics didn't seem to get through to you: too much info. But I'll add it here: 'And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around.' - Amazing! I think the writer drunk 2 bottles of WATERs too much. - Thank you very much! Tom
one of my favorite albums from floyd, and other favorite artist of mine is les claypool one of his side project bands the frog brigade covered this whole album live, then after a 20 years of not playing together. came back and did a whole tour doing his side project songs while also coving the album again and was an amazing experience, roger waters son harry waters was on keys for that tour last year
"I feel like I am being hypnotized..." That is kind of the point of listening to Floyd, lol. Dogs is hands down my favorite Floyd song from an experiential viewpoint.
My favorite Pink Floyd song. There are also early versions of Dogs and Sheep with alternate lyrics. The concept is basically splitting people into 3 types. The Pigs are the people on top, the Dogs are essentially the cutthroats out for themselves. Someone made a video for this song using the animated Animal Farm movie. It actually syncs up really well.
It's a shame that David Gilmour won't play any songs from the Animals album during Pink Floyd or his or solo concerts. They weren't getting along much during this time. When this album was released Roger Waters took credit for 90% of the creation of the album while Gilmore Wright and Mason got credit like in one sentence. David was unhappy because he wrote most of the songs. This was pretty much the beginning of the end of the Gilmour Waters collaborations
That trippy middle section was cool! Looked like you fell into a black hole! The proper response! 🤩 not my fave album, but I love this track (and that section!) Pink Floyd :The Kings Of Spacey! 🧑🚀🎸
Gilmour knows how to create many different moods through his guitar solos. This solo in "Dogs" definitively portrays a high level of Anguish. It's right there along with "Hey You" from The Wall.
First heard this album when I was 12 in 1977 and Dogs was always the tune I liked best. After years of listening, Pigs and Sheep are great as well. I love the beginning to Dogs with the acoustic guitar playing beautiful chords.
Les Claypool and His Fearless Flying Frog Brigade did this album live. I saw them twice on this tour. Sean Lenon on guitar, Harry Waters on Keys, a Vibraphone/percussionist, a drummer, and a Saxophone player.
Love this album from the first second till the last. Sometimes I took a glass of good malt, lit the lights and turn the volume a little louder, close my eyes a listen to the whole album. And after that ... I feel fine. This music is medicine.
The contrast between Gilmour and Waters vocals is so special and has always worked.
I sometimes wish Richard had some on this album too.
Shout out to Rick Wright and the fantastic keyboards on this song. gorgeous synths and organ, funky electric piano. RIP, Mr. Wright.
YES!!!!!!!!!!
Especially at the beginning. Amazing acoustic guitar, yes, but Wright just casually drops in multiple dimensions of sound almost before thought.
One of the greatest songs of all time
The whole record.
Almost like the guitar is speaking! That is the definition of David Gilmour!
💯
Huge Floyd fan here. This song is some of his finest work. The 100 watt Hiwatt into the Fane 4 x 12 raging, what a sound.
And in the case of Animals (1977), barking and oinking and bleating too
What do you mean by 'almost'?!
nope... The guitar is crying....
Every time I hear the opening guitar riff for this song playing, I get chills, because I know how ingenious the coming song is.
Thats the feeling i love getting after listening to Pigs on the wing 1 which is calm, then those acoustic guitar chords coming and you know what a beast is about to be released. so fucking powerful!

7:42 why? that feeling like going down a roller coaster😮Toda vez que ouço esse solo me dá essa sensação no estômago, obrigado pink Floyd por proporcionar isso para meu estômago 😂😂
First comments session, nice your are reading what it stands for..."dragged down by the stone" u understand now? @19:00 maybe some of us in the early 80's (were hallucinating" )hehe wow Aileen this was you best Reaction/Analysis, I could see in the look in your face, you were feeling the entire orchestrated message, glad to see you have become such {hottie} RocknRolll babe. Cannot wait for your "Sheep" reaction. Great job.
Greatest story-tellers in rock history. No one plays the guitar with 'true anguish' quite like David Gilmour.
Aileen you’re a poet yourself! @28:15 “I’m doing as I’m told, I’m kind of being controlled, I’m into this mold”…🤘🏻
Love Aileen ❤😊 you really understand this stuff like you grew up with it. So nice to see a beautiful young woman fall into the same trances as I did decades ago.
best band ever lived aileen, always do the studio versions before the live versions.e.g comfortably numb.the mastery of floyd's lyrics, feel, atmosphere build, soundscapes and just sheer emotion are peerless.have a nice day and keep it coming
That moment when you realize those aren't real dog sounds anymore and it's Richard Wright making them on the synth. Precious 😊❤
Tom
They are just amazing! Thanks for that!!!!
one of my favorite albums from floyd, and other favorite artist of mine is les claypool one of his side project bands the frog brigade covered this whole album live, then after a 20 years of not playing together. came back and did a whole tour doing his side project songs while also coving the album again and was an amazing experience, roger waters son harry waters was on keys for that tour last year
"I feel like I am being hypnotized..."
That is kind of the point of listening to Floyd, lol.
Gilmour’s best Floyd guitar work on this track IMO
Pink Floyd are one if the greatest bands ever amazing song just a nother brick in the wall
Never heard that before, that is an awesome but also very thoughtful and enjoyable reaction!
Listened to this many times over the years 😊
Just re-watched series 2 of Clarkson's Farm and you talking about the ending lyrics have some real relevance to the entire show, really.
Gilmour knows how to create many different moods through his guitar solos. This solo in "Dogs" definitively portrays a high level of Anguish. It's right there along with "Hey You" from The Wall.
a fine cut selection ❤ as always miss Sanpai 💐
First heard this album when I was 12 in 1977 and Dogs was always the tune I liked best. After years of listening, Pigs and Sheep are great as well. I love the beginning to Dogs with the acoustic guitar playing beautiful chords.
Les Claypool and His Fearless Flying Frog Brigade did this album live. I saw them twice on this tour. Sean Lenon on guitar, Harry Waters on Keys, a Vibraphone/percussionist, a drummer, and a Saxophone player.
Can't wait for you to do " sheep " , oh, boy !
And then at 7:42, the 'Pink Floyd' moment hits, and you're off another trip 😁
Yeh, I noticed it also eyes closed head moving and she's gone 😂😂😂 a love it
Love this album!!! Can’t wait for your Sheep reaction!!!!
Atmosfera... La música de Pink Floyd, crea una Atmosfera... Te envuelve aunque te olvidas que está ahí...
Love this album from the first second till the last. Sometimes I took a glass of good malt, lit the lights and turn the volume a little louder, close my eyes a listen to the whole album. And after that ... I feel fine. This music is medicine.
