We visited long-time client, friend, and drummer Jeff Friedl (A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, Devo, Beta Machine) at his very own Secret Hand Studios in Los Angeles, where recording/mixing engineer and Westlake Studios alum Claire Morison shared her insights on how she chooses the best mics for drum recording and what techniques she uses to capture a dynamic and lively drum sound.
Claire demonstrates how an excellent mix can be achieved with minimal processing when audio is recorded properly with the right gear. She also showcases the importance of experimenting with different mic angles and creative techniques to get the best sound out of each recording.

Great video. Besides seeing Puscifer 4 times with Jeff and seeing APC w/ Jeff I got to see him & Matt at a tiny club play for Carina Round. We got to hang out & talk at our table & he is a great guy. I also filmed him at Guitar Center in Portland, OR doing a drum clinic where he played a bunch of Puscifer songs (which are on TH-cam).
