- Does Meltan mean the end of Pokemon? Well no, just a soft reboot, which Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let's Go Eevee are! Here is how Meltan fits in with the old "Pokemon THE END Reboot" theory. As well as how it relates to Ditto, Mew, Mewtwo and... Necrozma!? Also what is Metlan made out of? I love how the Pokémon fandom just makes the lore. Some think Game Freak set all this up across the years, when in reality all they probably made was a simple storyline to add to the gameplay. The people make the lore, which makes it 1000% more interesting. Great vid keep it up.

As soon as i saw the Pokémon i thought of this: Electromagnetism.
MELTan, so, it has molten metal in it. And that eye is clearly floating magnetically inside the nut. It happens that you can actually melt metal with an electric current. Which, also, would generate an inmense electromagnetic field. There it is. Electricity from the cable flows on the nut, melting Meltan's body and generating the electromagnetic field that allows him to move the eye.

I'm pretty sure that because Meltan can't be obtained in any main-series gen 7 game, that makes it gen 8. In the past, future Pokémon would appear in spinoffs, so calling it gen 8 isn't a stretch.

Meyoumu_Kanpaku I don't really consider the Let's Go gamed to be "main-series". I know Game Freak said they are in an interview, but I personally disagree with them. Besides, even if they are main-series, they're much closer to gen 1 mechanically than gen 7, with no held items or abilities, and only the original 151 + Meltan. I don't think they really count as proper "generation 7" games, so Meltan could easily be gen 8.
i hate that theyre main series too but they didnt just say in the interview. they said it several times in the conference it was announced at, serebii lists them as main series (and aparently he was told that by gamefreak themselves. dont quote me on that though.), and its listed as main series on the official japanese website.

My immediate thought was to gravitate towards solder on a wire, since you use solder to keep wires together and can use it on nuts if necessary. I think these theories are cooler, but I wouldn't be shocked if this is what they went with.

Tantulum in the wire, copper head, mercury body. allows for the magnetism needed while still having both Tantulum and Mercury. This could explain Ash always being young and since Pikachu is a super weird, Pikachu as we are told throughout Gen 1 and by team Rocket in every series, combined with the possibility that there may be a connection to Ditto, is it too far of a streech to say that Ash's Pikachu could be a Meltan?

Here's my take on this: Meltan has been around for as long as Necrozma. It was forged from platinum deep underground by zygarde to balance out Necrozma. The meltan that we see, however, is not the same one that was forged from platinum by zygarde. This meltan was made by Giovanni to stop mewtwo, because of its ability to stop psychic pokemon. He did not forge this one from platinum, though. He formed this one out of tantalum because it is stronger against psychic energy, and it was easier to work with and obtain. He used the failed mew clones, ditto, as a catalyst for the new meltan.

Serebii doesn't confirm Meltan is Generation 7.
It could be like Manaphy which first appeared in the Gen 3 Ranger or Munchlax/Bonsly from XD who are Gen 4 Pokemon.
The Let's Go games are spin-offs, so Meltan could be in there to tease Gen 8, and it could still be a Gen 8 Pokemon.

also, Meltan's dex number is 891, and the last pokemon we have is Zeraora, his number being 807. There is a huuuuuuuge gap between those two.

It was impossible when the games were still sprite-based, but now everything uses 3D models. Splicing and dicing Pokemon parts is now possible.

Interesting to hear all of this after looking back now that we know that Meltan does indeed evolve and has a lot of electric attacks.

No, but there is that upcoming movie - that's gonna be a Mewtwo movie, right? And the upcoming Sun & Moon season seems like it'll have some elements of Let's Go in it (like Ash's new Eevee).
Just a quick note, in Alchemy, fire oposite is not Water, but Air (the former beign the oposite of Earth, and complimentary to Fire) , as oposites bring to a nul state, as the fire consumes the air and after that, it extinguishes.

The periodic table has never been my strong suit, I don't think I'd ever heard of Tantalum. However I just had a thought.
Okay, so Meltan's tail, it definitely looks like an electric cord. It also looks like a Pikachu tail, which is an electric type. I highly doubt Meltan is going to have any counterparts in the Let's Go games at least. But going back to that connection of Necrozma, perhaps it can work in tandum with your canonically special starter, having a unique Pikachu/Eevee fusion form or something. I don't see it being particularly likely, but it'd be neat.
Or the next game is Pokemon Nuts and Bolts with the gameplay centered around CAAAAAAAARS!

The nut is probably made of brass, as many nuts are, because it has low friction against steel, making it easy to set on a screw. The color also checks out. As well as, being an alloy of copper and zinc, it's a great conductor, so the butt-cable works, too.

the eye is a rare earth magnet, kinda like the ones people used to make cubes a few years back.
I think it's more likely that the eye is also some sort of liquid, based on how it can move and blink.
Then again, you can use magnets to melt metal, usually you pass it rhough a copper coil, similar to the thread on a nut.
Search something like induction heater magnet on youtube.

In my opinion, Meltan may be one of the unsuccessful experiments of a mysterious organization that performs ditto cloning experiments or one of its clones of mewtwo

The tan in Meltan could also refer to tanzanite. Tanzanite is a mineral containing vanadium. Vanadium is a hard gray metal. Vanadium is a transitional metal known for being very malleable when melted down (Melt-Tan). It is commonly used in making steel alloys.

In the end of the Japanese version of the latest Pokémon movie they tease that the next one will be a reimagining of Mewtwo Strikes Back. The new mythical always stars the next movie after it is reveled. Another connection between Meltan and Mewtwo
Tantalum, protects from psychic attacks... but... Meltan and its evolution Melmetal have the weakest special defense known to pokemon. Meltan having a base special defense of 35, and Melmetal having a base special defense of 65... still its kinda cool.

But it will most likely have an mini-arc about it. Same happened with HGSS, Lyra appeared during Diamond and Pearl in the anime.
from the looks of it Misty and Brock are returning to the anime again soon, that'll probably be the mini-arc for Let's Go.

Meltan’s head is brass, the eye is tantalum ( hence the colours of those two ) and either mercury or gallium ( it may emit heat, so gallium is a possible metal )
Not sure about the tail, I don’t know much red metals ( could be oxidised iron )
Failed arceus clone? An attempt by the ancients to recreate Arceus
Well we know that's what Type:null is, we know ditto may be a failed clone of mew what if, this is an imperfect amalgamation of both. What if this is an unknown in it's true pure form as lockstin stated in an earlier video arceus's "1000 arms" that created the universe, what if gen 8 DOES heavily relate to the creation myth in gen 4 and has everything to do with being a piece of "mew" and a piece of Arceus with other things to it than just that? If that's the kinda lore we get from it I'm down if not it's just kinda meh for a mythical pokemon but I'd be all for this being a fun missingno situation for go, but a bigger teaser for gen 8 and it's potential lore and bad guys we had Cyrus attempt to recreate the universe once, but he only attempted to destroy and recreate space and time in the 3rd dimension. He didn't think to basically attempt to pkay god in the sense of quitr shaping new life in a new dimension as we know it, and we've seen some of pokemon's multiversal sci-fi capabillity as much as the fantasy science magic aspects of the potential alchemy. Basically, what I'm saying is what if this is the first ever true fusion pokemon and it's a mythical because it's kind of the "jesus" of pokemon in a wierd round about way, basically the prophet who brings new life but like wierd a man made false one and maybe this thing is in a way just like the end times prophesizes in a way it draws from another form of mythology and it still supports this reset theory as the whole rapture buisness is the theme of rebirth. What if this is claimed to be ancient because oak has seen a similar ancient pokemon in unknown that litwrally keep the fabric of the dimension together this could actually work as a way for pokemon to end things or hard reset by using an antagonist who quite literally destroys the multiverse (or tries) and recreates it entirely new it gives them even MORE reason to have a situation like Rainbow Rocket. And maybe that is the antagonist of gen 8 the REAL antagonists (not like an endgame easter egg) but like legitimately stopping an antagonist like Cyrus who isn't just after power but recreation. You think about it every single villain there except Giovanni and Ghetsis wants to destroy and recreate the world and universe in some new manner Ghetsis and Giovanni Could probably get behind leading a new universe in the 4th dimension shaped as they please and maybe they work together to achieve it but it falls apart cause they can't agree and the thing goes haywire. It could be a pretty good finale piece or at least reason to reboot back to square one or start all over honestly. I doubt it on every level but one can dream.
Sorry for the long text but the lore got me genuinely pumped for it, if it's just a thing, that exists though im holding out for a better cuter or cooler mythical design to go after in gen 8 XD.

No it isn't. If it were it would be classified as a liquid on the periodic table. Gallium's melting point is just above room temperature, melting in your hand.

Maybe Giratina sends it as a scout to see the world. It "bonds" with the trainer, so that the trainer will try to rescue you it since it appears to be dying. Upon fulfilling the ritual Giratina is released back into the world. MUAHAAHAHAHHAHA

Never touch mercury. The picture he kept showing was freaking me out.
Mercury is fine to touch(still bad but not gonna hurt you to much), the dangerous stuff is organic mercury.
A Ditto and an Unknown got it on in the daycare in a pool of Mercury. Pikachu was peeking at them and tried to stop the realations by shocking them....and that is how you were born.
One thing i will mention which might open more speculation, Meltan is exactly double the weight of Ditto/Mew. Yet another connection there.

The Tantalum theory honestly just doesn't work on any level.
Tantalum has like, the third highest melting point, and doesn't fit with the info we have about Meltan.

As he said, Tantalum is a platinum substitute because both are very non reactive, meaning it doesn't corrode things very often, nor absorb other metals.
Mercury does both of those things though, so does Grey Goo (or would).
Quick thing, iron isn’t that reactive.
Caesium and Florine are the really reactive ones, making a huge explosion without splitting the atom
(There is Frankium, but the difference between it and Caesium is almost nonexistent)

We will know when there are official entries to the pokedex. Usually what makes a pokemon "mythical" as opposed to just "legendary" is usually a rare pokemon that doesn't really contribute to the plot of it's game, the only exception I can recall being the lake trio from D and P.

I don't know either. There is nothing mythical about it. Mew is the ancestor of all normal pokemon, Celebi is the guardian of the forests, Jirachi grants wishes, Manaphy is the prince of the sea, and so on. Mythicals are treated like legendarys in terms of lore.

I honestly think that he forgot about gallium. It can turn solid but at room temp is liquid. It's also used in electronics I believe.
On the note of psychic types, pokemon go has announced it was time for the psychic Pokemon with the latest being, drowsee's shiny
theory: meltan are dittos(so the failed clones) that escaped in team rocket's lab and sort of picked up obejects around it and they morphed it over time- and when mewtwo escaped, the psychic "radiation" that was absorbed by the meltan helped it build up an immunity to psychic
