    You always make so much sense to me... Currently I am at this stage of chest to wall HS balancing. And I actually realised that I was doing more of what you mentioned in 'A' part of the 2 comparisons.
    Will be doing more 'B' now.
    Absolute gem of information. A big👍

    Hi Tom, I started watching your videos as a way to warm up before the day starts, since I don't have a lot of time to work out. I work sitting in a desk all day and was wondering if you have any videos to stretch in the office, something anyone in a desk job could easily do to avoid bad posture and all the complications that derive from such work. Thanks and great job man!

    Kicking up into handstands is the biggest mistake. It's sold as the easiest method to start with handstands, but really it just makes it harder. Tuck jumping and moving onto pressing is the best way.

    • @piotrekuygiutf4946
      @piotrekuygiutf4946 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not everybody has strenght or mobility to do this

    • @DIYToPen
      @DIYToPen 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@piotrekuygiutf4946 but that should be the strength and mobility that is their goals. Not everyone has the strength/mobility to handstand at all.

    • @piotrekuygiutf4946
      @piotrekuygiutf4946 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DIYToPen yeah, only small part of people have enough mobility for handstand. Most of them have strenght but every kind of pressing is harder than just handstand in terms of strenght. And tuck handstand requires even more mobility than just standing. Anyway i think tuck jumping can be better only if you have requirements. If not you should stay with kicking

    • @piotrekuygiutf4946
      @piotrekuygiutf4946 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Deadtired83

      Have you tried turning your hands a bit more outwards/spread? (a bit like in this this picture, maybe even slightly more: barbend.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Handstand-1024x684.jpg). I have also issues with my right wrist, but turning hands into a bit different position makes the pain disappear pretty much completely.

    I learnt handstands by continuously kicking up. I know I should've used the wall, I'm sure it would've been quicker, but I found the wall so boring! It was more fun to just keep kicking up!

  • @puddingball

    I needed the second tip about a year ago. Still learning the normal handstand, but noticing a lot of progress in the last month (actually performing less handstands) :)

  • @aliensoup2420
    @aliensoup2420 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Front to the wall is the best way (dare I say, the ONLY way) to learn a proper handstand. I recommend getting even closer until your entire frontside is flush against the wall. This forces your body into the proper form (no arched back or excessive pike). The balance point is a tiny tap away, or just a slight adjustment of the body or pressure in the hands. I taught myself this method in high-school gymnastics, and my team-mates were in awe of my handstand on floor, parallel bars, and rings.

    Another aspect of using the wall... and specifically facing the wall.. is your line. A freestanding kick up and you will invariably banana... using a wall takes one element out and therefore you can focus on your line and core-stability. The amount of people who 'think' they can handstand with out a wall and then just look like a floppy piece of pasta.

I started with back to wall to fall on feets. So my pro friends. How we can programm our brains like dont fear to kick up and how to fall right and not die...

    Amazing! Have you considered relaxing your head instead of looking at the ground? Makes it even harder! Great vids!

    • @aliensoup2420
      @aliensoup2420 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, you should keep the head down, and just look at your hands through the top of your eyes. Generally, your body follows your head, so forcing your head up induces an arch in your back. Looking down or toward your front will reduce the tendency to arch.
