Alien Dimension (GH5 Short Film) Sci-Fi The son of an angry father discovers an alien device that was left behind and finds himself trapped in an abandoned world.
Alien tech with English instructions. That's handy. I won't talk about the night light. Still this short movie was admirable, I imagine it was made with 0 money and lots of passion. I actually watched the whole thing, so I can't complain, well done, well done indeed.
I think he did time travel to a distant future time, a dystopian earth with mostly extinct life. So, of course, everything would be in English and his father would be long dead. It would be cool if he found his old residence before the cataclysmic event.
I tried to hate on this short, but I actually really enjoyed it. Bro not slimming down at all after a year of scrounging kind of took me out of it tho.
Great premise, but could definitely needed some more rewrites. You're brave to go ahead and put this out there and give it a go though. More than I have done.
Yes. His father likely eventually felt the loss and died brokenhearted. Also I should note I think he traveled in time, thru a vortex worm hole? ,right back to earth, but unrecognizable because of mass extinction from ELE.
Sad that the father punched his son like that. So many fathers and sons would give anything to spend precious time together. Those who have been kept apart.
Great Film Benjamin. It was good to know you shot this film in parts of SC. I am in western NC so sort of close to me. Look great with a beard by the way.
Really great premise, and awesome story. I could see a second part or a really fleshed out story with a deeper plot. My only complaints is the delivery of lines that feels forced and out of character. Takes away from the feeling of the movie. No offense to you but the film would benefit from hiring a solid lead actor.
This was very clever, good work. Thanks for listing all the gear you used. It demonstrates how creativity is not solely reliant on the most expensive tools and big crews.
I really enjoyed this film. Especially when it's a family made film he royaly scrawed himself when made it for ten years. I kept saying why doesn't he try to find a house not to beaten up.. I hope you do more like this one. Thank you
It would have been a real twist of ironic fate if both of them got transported to that same dimension, enduring the "same shit, different day" ordeal for 10 years, and it's gonna be really just the two of them, each one trying to murder the other. Oops, I just gave away a magnificent story idea. 😉

Brilliant bit a cosmic horror sci Fi. So many different scenarios to look at this from which we love. Wonder just what became of the alien & ship , did it have the same experience or are we looking at it as it came so far it's also alone ,we don't really know . Damn shame he wasn't smart enough to one go back to where he saw the sip land & what got out & two he waited far to long to give the thing to his asswipe old dad before it was to late plus he got greedy in his revenge which promptly backfired in a bad way but at least this time seems he's not alone. Great job to all that worked hard to make one heck of strange journey.
An ok attempt but on the whole it could have been something more: I just want to give you some constructive feedback: I think you would have been better off doing some good color grading in the beginning of the film. It feels like the effects shots and the live footage shots don't really match together. The live-footage shots feel very much like everyday experience that don't match very well with the "cool-factor" of the visual effects. The effects look out of place compared to the live-action footage. And when the story starts not much happens. It's very important that something visually interesting happens pretty early in the other dimension from my perspective. Now it feels a bit like a pretty slow-moving "last man on the earth film" that not really matches what came forward in the rest of the film up to that point. This film is pretty short so it's important we get introduced to some good action pretty early in the other dimension - so that most of your watchers don't get bored! I have made this mistake myself in a recent 3D-animated short I have made. We must be introduced to some decent action pretty early in the film not only towards the end. Some interesting plot device has to arrive pretty early in the other dimension and something beyond the ordinary has to happen later. The main conflict of the film must come early as in this film but we have to "raise the stakes" minute by minute too! So to next short - this is also about getting more film-making experience - create a more fast-paced script with more action and coherent visuals and don't go for a too "low-budget" look - scifi-films like this needs a sense of some higher budget to succeed! One has to "fool the eyes" of one's film-watchers! On the whole I think this film could have been good but in the end it just became an ok attempt from my perspective. I'm only honest - it's easy to commit these mistakes I have talked about! Enjoy the film-making process! Take care!
Hey thank you so much for the good advice. And I agree, I will definitely take your advice for this does seem like it would certainly make for a more interesting film. I need a crew and some actors. Not making excuses but I have been having to shoot, act, edit, special effects, audio design, lighting, all whine juggling a job I work 50 hours a week in plus I go to church Sunday’s and most Wednesdays so yeah, I’m stretched super thin. Any idea on ways to find people that want to be a part of a crew?
@@HDR_America Film is hard. Yes, I can see myself in your situation. Well, I'm from Sweden and I can't recommend a good cast and crew. Not animators either. I do all of my animation myself. Still I hope you find a way to do something with a larger budget in the future. And remember the fun to make a film! And we can always learn something from it!

Always some unanswered questions : Does he wash his clothes? How is his dad doing? Is his father alive still? Is his father alone or in a convalescent post acute care medical center? Is his mother dead or convalescent? What about the alien device origin and purpose? Any way to get back home? Or is he home in the distant future?
Loved this story about the angry old hobbit and his impulsive, bald son. And it could've been worse...I was expecting the older hobbit to accidentally arrive in the alien dimension at the last moment. How badly would that suck...still, there's gotta be good eating on the old fella for a few months, right?

Well, I had once been gone for 3 yrs.....when I returned it was exactly where I was before and like I was never ever gone....not even a minute. Somehow....someway I was transported to another planet, I think....... of other humans speaking English & more advanced than Earth--they reached Interstellar capabilities, yet not universal so.... and they took great care of me and I made good friends. Too much more to tell than space given here. I do not care if anyone believes me or not. It happened to Earth others because I met a few when there. I wish to go back and stay.
