Great Video. Nice to hear your meaning to a worldwide so much liked, loved and hyped knife. I‘m a fan of RHK.
Maybe you should try a non flipper version of the XM-18 3.5

Great review certainly appreciate the honest perspective. I don't know that this would be "the" knife for me. Like you said once you hit that price point there are a lot of really good options. I will see though once I get one in hand

Jake, I'm sure there are hinderer fanboys out there that'll disagree with your take on this piece but 'hey', a bit of objectivity never goes astray. Thanks for the video 👌

Man, I agree with the over-jimping 100%. A lot of "tactical" knives try and put jimping on every conceivable surface. A knife with good ergonomics doesn't need all of that. I like a little on the top of the blade and maybe in the choil area, but that's it. Spyderco usually gets the amount and placement of jimping correct for me.

I feel the same way. I like my ZT0562cf and prefer that over the xm18 however I do own a xm24 Bowie in cpm20cv and love it. The ease of open and closing on xm24 is better than the other two.

It is one of 5 I am considering. The Spartan Harsey folder is in the running over the Hinderer.

I sold my ZT0562 to get my first Hinderer. I was sold on the improved fidget factor of the Hinderer. With the Hinderer I can use the flipper, thumb studs with the thumb and thumb studs with finger flick. Couldn't do that with the ZT. You can also get a Hinderer for just a little over the 0562 on the used market. I would highly recommend trying a Hinderer for yourself. The Skinny Slicer 3.5 is my favorite.

562’s are usually in the 200$ range whereas hinderers are usually in the 4-500$ range. Hardly a little more.

I have a Chad nichols damscus sebenza with bog oak inlays. Almost 800 dollars and while nice and smooth it dosent hit that fidget factor that I need in my knives. It’s broken in well but a drop shut knife that’s fun to deploy will always end up in my pocket over something like my crk

I tried a 3 inch xm-18. I LOVE the looks of the knife. I HATED the finger choil. It was a small first knuckle choil. I got rid of the knife because I would rather have a full sized choil like on my pm2 or manix 2 lightweight. I would like to try a hinderer that is a no choil no flipper. But they are also really expensive and I don’t think I’ll be spending that much anytime soon. When I have a knife that expensive, I feel almost guilty not carrying it and choosing my bugout or manix 2 lightweight over it haha

  • @DavidV4444

I love my XM-18’s but CRK makes the greatest knife on the planet for me., it’s perfection.

I like the non flipper version but it's out of stock on DLT. I don't see any S20V/M390 versions either. Do they restock regularly?

Kyle sent me his. I'm kinda with you. I love the feeling in Hand. You can also feel the quantity and toughness in it. But at $425.00 I'd rather have a liong Mah Endeavor or maybe even just spend a little more and get the Koneg.

The problem with classic knives like the xm-18 and sebenza is they are so afraid of evolving the design. The dumb thumb stud on the sebenza, the action, the ugly sharp flipper tab of the xm-18, the unneeded overtravel stopper, so many possible improvements that could be made but were not because of the trouble of changing their CNC settings etc or getting their old customers pissed off. They are stuck in the era of the early 2000s.

For a knife that claims to be a hard use knife....it should be a full metal build, not just a skinny liner covered with g10

    • @19Bearsfansince79
