The new Orient Divers you were referring to are supposed to be launched in the US in August. I found them online by accident and think they look amazing. They all have a stainless steel bezel, and one of them has a Salmon dial, which I think will be a huge seller. And yes, they are supposed to be 40mm in size. Thanks for the video!
I‘m very curious about the mako 40 (don‘t know if thats gonna be the official name). Always annoyed by the 22mm lugs on my mako II and pretty much no taper at all.
Are they mako 3's but in 40mm? or a different model altogether? I def agree with what he said about giving us some options without the day and date function. I've found that to be an extra pain to set if you don't wear the watch as your daily. I don't want to grab a watch and set the time, day, and date every time i wear it
@@minimalistmaverick they are just a new 40mm Mako variant in new colorways with stainless steel bezels. In my opionion, they look significantly more premium than the previous Mako models
@@chriswatchreviews4752 nice! I just found them. They are WAY better looking! And only have the date function which is a cleaner look. Think I’ll go for these instead. Maybe wait and see if price comes down a little
I do love Orient as a brand under the Epson moniker. The inclusion of Sapphire Crystal lens is a great bonus to this watch and a much needed protection. I think every watch collection should have an Orient diver in it. My burgundy bezel Kamatsu on an after market black and red sailcloth strap is my favourite daily wearer. As highlighted by you, the blue Orient Mako 3 is the pick of the bunch looks wise but all the colourways have a strong appeal to me. My only suggestion would be an inclusion of a rubberised sail cloth strap with each? Great review as always Mark, Grazie! ⌚
I’m one of those who just can’t get past the day/date on diver watches, even Seiko’s and Islander ones previously offered. I agree Marc, a date placed at 6 or none at all would make the dial look cleaner (more balanced).
@@islandwatch Have to agree on getting away from the day on all watches - seriously, who doesn't know what day it is? My favorite Orient Diver is the Triton with the date at the 4 o'clock position.

One of my absolute favourites and most worn watch . Picked up the blue Mako 2 in 2017 and have been wearing the heck out of it. The size is perfect, keeps time very well and looks great. Super rugged as well. Would like to see the Mako USA make a comeback soon.
That blue Mako III is really something else in my opinion. I think the trick is the lighter blue quarter and the yellow tip over that deeper dial. I've read that they took inspiration from a 'morning sunrise by the sea', and although i don't much follow these poetics i can't think of any other figure to describe it.
I bought the black Kamasu w/gold edged bezel & black rubber strap from LIW, a few months ago. It has been an extremely good watch for me...close to perfection, as far as it represents the look I want in a watch. Some have complained that the stem is too small, but my skinny fingers can wind and set it OK. No problems.
It looks like they made the crown bigger. If that’s true it’s a good thing, because the crown was too small and hard for me to grip on the old version of this watch.
I really like these Orient time pieces. I am a huge Orient fan In my 15 piece collection I own 5 Orients. Now don't get me wrong. I have never seen one in person, however that redish color one looks like the color of jewelers rouge or perhaps even terracotta.
I personally differ the Rays, Makos and Kamasus by the handsets & dials, nothing else; they together are all different between each model, while cases and bracelets are unavoidable similar or the same since they're all cousins of a major budget family. I think that Orient did great with the new Mako III, easily ranging from fresh casual to conversation pieces and serious formal. I hope they upgrade the Ray II as well, perhaps with a more 'professional' vibe, like keeping the same traditional colours but with updated bezel, sapphire etc.
indeed, a marvel of a watch from what I can see in your video with beautiful presentation! But there is one thing that confuses me a lot: The screw-down-crown on the watch in this video is clearly different from the one I see in your longislandwatch shop and any other online shop. This screw in your video is noticeably thicker and it protrudes slightly over the edge. The model in your shop has a smaller screw-doen-crown. The one of today in all the online shops seems to have the flimsy screw-down-crown of the Kamasu wich often is criticised to be somewhat fiddly and wobbly? What exact model do you present in the video? And how come this difference? Which screw-down-crown is the real one? Thanks for disclosing this little secret to me. 🙂

This is a 200ish bucks watch - on the grey market, not at the ADs. You cant expect those things. With seiko and Citizen they dont even give you a sapphire crystal at this price point. Seiko doesnt even give you solid links throughout the bracelet on most Seiko 5s.
