    Most likely residual coal dust from the bunkers and coal handling areas that was released as the bunkers and building disintegrated in the demolition. If there is a spark in the area when the air/dust ratio is right, it makes a nice fireball as we see here.

      Correct.

      The same thing happens in grain elevators, flour mills and sugar refineries when flammable dust contacts an ignition source. Pretty much takes a job away from CDI when it does!

      I thought maybe a movie crew was there filming the demolition to use in a movie with all the big fireballs.

    I've been watching CDI videos for years mostly from TH-cam but other sites as well. But using a drone takes us to the next level.

    Was it the aerosolized soot which ignited or was there residual fuel in the lines? Most demos don't have flammable components unless is for a movie shot for dramatic effects.

    • @robedwards2897

      Probably the coal dust left in the ducts and bunkers that ignited

      It was imploded, Being a coal fired plant, the coal dust ignited into the fireball unintentionally.

      Those are the feeders...they feed raw coal into the pulverizers (that is when the coal is grinded up) I actually worked at this plant till it shut down. This a sad video to watch but a very memorable one also.

    Lot's of power plant demolitions. Remember these when your electricity service is only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It's coming.

    • @walterzoomie
      @walterzoomie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I had the same thought a couple of years ago after an old coal-fired generating station in Florida was demolished. I actually contacted the power company who owned the plant about this, and they replied that energy consumption was down because everything is so efficient these days...meaning users and producers of energy....that the plant was no longer needed.
      I found their explanation very hard to believe, and, like you, I think this ongoing destruction of our generation abilities will bite us in the ass sooner rather than later.

    *_Was that coal dust that ignited after the kicker charges exploded?_*
    I've seen pyrotechnics added for effect, but this didn't look like pyrotechnics. Also, nice intro showing all the charges wrapped in plywood. CDI is always the best of the very best around the world.

  • @pneumatic00
    @pneumatic00 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I for one would like to see a few column cuts, meaning the ends of the main support columns, inside those plywood boxes you mount around the main columns, where they are cut by shaped charges.
