- Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) of Phoenix, Maryland, USA (acting as Explosives Subcontractor to Main Demolition Contractor, Lindamood, Inc. of Irving, Texas) performs the design of, preparation for and explosives felling of three buildings located at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, in a single explosives sequence, on October 1, 2023. Once environmental remediation was completed, Lindamood conventionally demolished 183,000 sq ft of low-rise mall structures around the towers in the complex to isolate the three tower structures for explosives felling by CDI.
Using a non-electric initiation system given the proximity of Dallas Love Field and numerous UTSW radio transmitters, Tower #1, a 200,243 sq ft, 13-story, welded steel framed office building, Tower #2, a 601,600 sq ft, 19-story, heavily reinforced concrete office building, and Tower #3, a 251,200 sq ft, 14-story, welded steel framed office building, were felled in a single implosion sequence choregraphed in Tower 3, 2, 1 sequence to separate and minimize noise levels from the detonation of explosives and mitigate vibration generated by the fall of debris to grade.
A total of 616 lbs. of explosives were detonated in all three structures over a 24 second period to fell the towers. Third-party noise and vibration monitoring documented levels well below allowable limits for the sensitive University of Texas medical facilities surrounding the Paul M. Bass site.
CDI’s explosives demolition services brought a total of 45,720 tons of debris from the 1,236,043 sq ft of structures to grade where Lindamood could put its entire fleet of excavators to work, downsizing and separating concrete from salvageable metals, rather than having to wait on a lesser quantity of debris generated by Lindamood’s high-reach excavators.

I never get tired of watching the surgical precision of how you are able to take a building down in seconds when it takes us years to put them together. Great work!!!
I've said it many times, but I simply love to see when the buildings are coming down how the glass sparkles like diamonds! Such a pretty sight considering a building is coming down forever.
Thanks for all the details! It's fascinating to learn more about how you work.
Great camera work and editing. Always lots of fun watching the ladies doing the wiring work. You go girls! Thanks for the behind the scenes look-see. Another great TH-cam post.
I believe many of them are family members, too :)
CDI again delivering another banger (well technically 3 lol)
I love all the B-Roll and informational introduction. The demolitions once again looked flawless from an outsiders perspective, the way the buildings fell once again looked so satisfying.
I once again found myself clapping after all buildings went down.
Bit of a shame that that the camera at 9:00 felt like going out of focus in the most important moment.
Love it 👌
Thanks for watching!
@@TheLoizeauxGroupLLCcdi try released old videos of you demolishing of buildings and stuff outside of america
LOVE the new long form - LOVE the new 4K - LOVE all the new camera angles on this big Texas HAT TRICK demo!
I've been home sick and had just finished the Blowdown series on TH-cam when I saw this demolition pop-up. This was the “cherry on top!” Great job to all the crew.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sweet!!! A triple play demo with drone footage and a bomb proof camera at ground level
Way to go CDI, it may not be a record but it will make the 2023 end of year video collage
Thanks again for a great visual
I retired from UTSW in 2020, I spent innumerable hours in these buildings over 32 years. For the last 6 1/2 years my desk and cubicle were in Tower #1 (the third one felled). I watched the implosion on 10/1/23 from across the street. It’s probably not necessary to say that it was an emotional experience. I want to thank CDI for taking the time to supply some of the history behind the buildings. Excellent video.
CDI The very BEST in the World! You guys do absolutely amazing work!
Thank you! Thanks for watching and supporting our channel!
@@TheLoizeauxGroupLLC You’re most welcome! I’m your biggest fan!
I appreciate the background information and explanations. This is a first for your videos, I believe. Makes the whole demolition more interesting . I’d expect there was a LOT of asbestos in those old buildings. 💲💲💲💲💲
Immaculate, and also most instructive - explaining charge usage and placements etc. Answered one or two questions I have always had regarding sequencing. This must be one of your best videos - so many great camera positions. :)
Thanks for the inside look at the prep work. Another great video.
Bes CDI video yet!!! I love the background information makes it much more meaningful. Also, excellent angles, and drone work.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That vault door was a work of art. I'd hope it found another life somewhere else.
Exchange Park held quite a bit of Dallas history in it, primarily that it was the world headquarters of the (now defunct) airline Braniff International, which occupied the space from the complex's opening until 1978, when they moved to a new building near DFW.
These were delightful examples of 1950s Modern architectural design.
Wow 😯😮 So cool!
The shot from inside the vault. Best Ever!!
Great work by all involved
Best CDI Video yet! Great editing!
Glad you liked it!
I don't think I've seen one of your videos with the behind the scenes work of placing explosives before. Very cool. You dropped all three with perfection into their spots. Fascinating how you have this down to an art now.
Thank you!

4:29 Triple fire in the hole! 💥💥💥
4:38 Building No. 1, TIIIIIIMMMBEEEEEEEEERRR!!!
4:44 Building No. 2, TIIIIIIMMMBEEEEEEEEERRR!!!
4:49 Building No. 3, TIIIIIIMMMBEEEEEEEEERRR!!!
5:05 Neat close-up inside the vault. Luckily the GoPro camera still intact when it collapse and lots dust coming into the vault.
7:01 Sounds like a angel moaning. 😱 This joint is haunted, it's Halloween yesterday. Trick or treat!
That is greatest footage I've ever seen on TH-cam Channel.
Yes!! Yes!! Yes!! Best video yet. Loved the behind the scenes prep work. You just need to get some FPV drones to get some close shots as the buildings are coming down.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video!
it never gets old seeing C.D.I. turn big buildings to dust. its better then watching them being put up. another great job for the books at C.D.I.. its almost like every day. you need a car ,you go to a car dealer and buy a car. you need a big building to go away you call C.D.I. and it is gone like clock work. (NEXT) .......... after seeing C.D.I. do the hudson buildings i don't know how to top that. that was a big big big big shot and C.D.I.dropped it in its tracks , just beautiful.
That vault door was impressive
What a great demolition video. I really enjoyed the facts about the complex and the sneak peek of the process of how the charges are set up.
Great! Glad you enjoyed it!
I just got home from work and saw the notification of the new CDI video. I sat down to eat my dinner and watching this was like having dessert before my dinner. But it did not ruin it. I saw the pressure waves making the black mirror glass shake just before it was turned into glitter. Keep it up! A fine way to end my work day.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the explanations of why and the up close details of how. And thanks for turning the comments on
One of ,if not the best video you have made to date , I love it
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful, just beautiful. I love how you got more in detail on how the process works. Also, what are you all going to do with the huge bank vault?
My question too! Definitely a pain for the site owners!
Just magnificent!
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
this is not only bäääämmmm thats performence from heart and feeling !
That bank vault was impressive! I enjoyed seeing the history of the place. Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great Again💪
When I was 15 or so, a teacher gave me a DuPont "Blasters' Handbook" from 1949. I've been reading it ever since.
Another great job well done!
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
Well done.
Awesome job!!
Thanks! Appreciate you taking the time to watch the video!
Simply the best professional crew/team in the world, fantastic, spectacular and awesome all at once!
Thank you so much!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
I love watching the videos,
Was always curious about how long does it take to clean all that up,
Does your company do that also
CDI is the subcontractor to another company. The cleanup is another company's job.
awesome video Phenominal job
Thank you!
Excellent ! Encore un travail sans accroc ! Le coup de la caméra dans le coffre , bien vu 👍
YES! More background on how it's done! Brilliant!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
The LoizeauxGroup - we're never late - we're always bang on time !.......see you later,detonator.....our performance is guaranteed to bring the house down - literally.....anyone blown away by the bad jokes ?
Oh! A new one this time! Wonderful stuff!
I got a big giggle out of the water sprinkler, quietly "chek-chek-chek-chek"ing before the first charges go off 😂
Great job #1😊
Thanks for watching!
I loved this little behind the scenes look at how a good implosion is set up. So the two sets of explosions are the shaped charge to cut the beam, then the displacement charge to push the segment down, then gravity does the rest and your building is packed into the basement
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
"Yes. Kaboom, Rico!"
Once CDI shows their expertise with a great demo job.
Thanks for watching!
I love watching and listening to the CDI videos.
My neighbors only get to listen. To all of them 😉
Incredible video!!
Thank you!
Stunning high-quality footage 🙂; thanks! If you are able (trade secrets notwithstanding), more detail of the mechanisms of deploying/placing your charges, and the types of charges would make a welcome addition. I know about V-shaped charges to cut through steel columns. Anyway: one of your best videos yet!
Rob
I actually really liked this! I’ve always loved watching videos of stuff like this but also I’ve wanted to know an in depth or at least a general overview of the history of the building if need be.
Keep doing these kind of videos!
Will do! Thanks for watching!
If you liked this, check out the "Blowdown" Documentary Series, they made like 6 episodes where they followed CDI and made in-depth Documentaries about some of their demolition projects with a lot of background information. It's an absolute blast watching this series (literally lmao)
Great video! I really enjoyed seeing the prep work.
Awesome! Thank you!
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing how the prep work is done. I learned something new today.
Thanks for watching!
Every year your videos get better and better.... Setting a new standard in excellence.
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching!
I'm going to miss those old buildings.... although I didn't know they existed until 5 minutes ago ..... but still ...the memories 😟
you guys should make more videos like this one explaining the history, preparations, implosion and aftermath.
Loizeaux Group making Maryland proud, blowin' stuff up!
Phenomenal precision. Very well done.
Damn, you guys are artists.....as John Candy and Eugene Levy would say..."They blowed up REAL good!"
SICK!!🤌🤌🤌🤌
Excellent Work. Without a doubt CDI is the best in the business.
Thank you!
True professionals at work
Thank you!
That was awesome -
Andrew Buscemi
Thank you!
Just stunning work your crew does! WOW
Thank you!
Very well done, guys!! Just curious...what is the largest tonnage you have dropped in a single shot?
5:50 seeing all of that glass shatter was quite satisfying... 😁
The production of the video was top notch 👌. Loved to see the 3 buildings go down in perfect coordination. Good job!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful
Thank you!
Saubere Arbeit !
Thank you!
I could watch that all day.
it was great to get a peek behind the scenes before the big event, would love a bit of an explainer on the technology (shaped charges etc) and how it's used in demolitions
Great camera work, nicely done !!! 😎
Loved the preparation segment - it takes a lot of skill to do a dangerous job safely - but the vault video really stole the show! I wouldn't be surprised if some video game licenses that footage from you :-)
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
I took dozens of photos of these buildings before their demolition. Kind of sad they are gone, but UT Southwestern hospital will undoubtedly put this land to better use.
Been a fan since the History Channel days! 😀 Let me know if you ever want a voice over done for these. It would be awesome. 😉
Three buildings reduced to dust Good Job CDI!
Thanks!
Yet another fine example of CDI poetry in motion.
Thank you!
Beautiful. The only thing missing was the Toyota Truck on the roof of one of the buildings, lol...
I've often wished there was some of the lead-up prep work to these videos...😊
3 buildings gone down with at least a 2 second time delay between each building collapse
Linear Shape Charges came through again! When they go off attached to steel beams, it's like a hot knife slicing thru butter!!
Will the video on the bl england smokestack demolition come soon?
Well, so much for those wall mounted commodes I always wanted. Lol
What is the function of the water sprinklers that sometimes come out? I always see that they have machines that spray water or throw water in an area but then you see the huge cloud of dust that comes up and it's not clear to me what their purpose is.
I think it's just there to meet a mandatory requirement by the city..... not as if it helps anything....but at least they can say they used it... 😀
I believe the objective is to help reduce the smoke and particulate matter and keep it somewhat localized.
👍👍👍😎😎😎
Any time a blast goes perfectly I think about CDI. When a blast goes wrong, I think - they should have used CDI.
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
Your kingdome implosion in seattle ,wa was one of your materpieces .
Is the timing due exclusively to det cord length? Would love to see a behind the scenes of how they actually plan for this structurally. Surgical precision!
CDI 1997 HIGHLIGHT please
Got to ask a question when the first explosions goes off does it start at the bottom and works it way up or does it start at top on of building and works it way down ? If someone could answer for me I would really appreciate it
😎😎👍👍💯💯
CDI do you have a way of knowing that every charge went off so nothing can be left live in the cleanup?
9:45 shows how strong bank vaults are. Mythbusters tested this as well (on a much smaller vault): anything you do to penetrate the vault will almost certainly destroy its contents.
Was a special flight scheduled to watch the demolition from above? )))
When will you have the video of the chimney being brought down in Beesley point, NJ at BL ENGLAND nuclear plant???
LOL…….They shut down Love Field 1/2 a mile away (actually more), but allow traffic to flow on Mockingbird just 900 feet away.😂😂😂
All that, and the bank vault is still there.
(Last few seconds of video!)
