@@easyworkacresyeah, I bet it is. Those plastic waterers last for like a season haha. I use 100% rubber animal drinking bowls and they have lasted indefinitely
@@mayshomesteadchronicles we had a rubber bowl as well it just didn’t ride well with the moveable set up. It’s worked great in our brooder feeder though!
I haven’t had problem with it being too hot anytime I’ve messed with it or cleaned it but it’s not in direct sun for too long throughout the day being mounted to the coop. Thanks for watching!
We just moved the coop today with it on there and it was great. Didn’t have to worry about a bucket dragging the ground or taking anything apart. It was nice.
I got one a couple of months ago, I bought a older version at the agricultural store, the one i bought had little bolts for the water valve cover, it couldn't be attached to the wall because then there was no way to install the bolts , the hinged swing door is a upgrade, I ordered 2 new ones for a new chicken run im building. Best animal waterer out there.
@easyworkacres it worked out, I welded a movable stand out of 1x1 square tubing, I can easily flip over the waterer for a fast cleanup, it works great, I ordered 2 more just because I like them so much, I'm also using off grid water.
@@MosaicHomestead thats a pretty awesome lever system! Ours has a drain plug in it so it swirls like a toilet bowl and flushes everything out when you pull the plug. But the tip lever idea is awesome and looks super efficient!
Take a sawzall and connect all the drill holes on one board, and you wouldnt have to take the bolt all the way out. You could just loosen it enough to rotate it around.
We have 160 birds and have it ran to a water collection tank. Stays filled up and all the birds have water! So it should be more than enough for 50. Thanks for watching!
No it’s at a height that’s off the ground enough that they don’t step I. The bowl and not high enough that they have to climb to drink. It still gets dirty over time with the dirt they have on their beaks but it’s super easy to clean. I haven’t seen any mosquito issues and we’ve had a water tank on the front of our coop for 3 years. Maybe the chickens help keep them at bay.🤷♂️
Been using this for decades so not a new idea you just stumbled upon it. You will have to clean the jet port out periodically from algae buildup in the water line..
I never assume I’m the first at anything.😂 never even touched a chicken before 2020. And yes I’ve had to clear the connection between hose to float valve twice in the last year from random blockages. Someone said throwing some copper pipe in my barrels will help combat algae build up in general though so I’m gonna give that a try and see if it works. Thanks for watching!
I’m sure it heats up some but not enough that the chickens have had trouble drinking from it. Only certain hours of the day get sun on it as well, different depending on the orientation of the coop in the field since it’s mobile.
We’ve tried nipples. No matter what brand they always seem to leak, break, or not work all together. Not sure why but maybe it’s because we have 150 hens they just don’t hold up to the amount of use.🤷♂️
Hi nice system. But can you give me you opinion on a system that is self maintained, you dont have to do nothing.Just plug it in and attach the water line. This is the name on you tube (automatic self maintained water system for chickens) Let me know what you think. Thanks
That’s a pretty sweet set up he’s got. That wouldn’t work on our moveable coop as it doesn’t have electric so we would need to figure out a whole solar panel set up to do that. Also it seems like a lot of moving parts that could get damaged on a moveable coop like ours. Otherwise it’s super cool and looks like it works great. As far as cleaning goes it takes about 30 seconds a week to pull the drain plug and hit it with a brush so it’s not too time consuming to us.
Finally! I video that had all the info i needed! Been looking in to it for ducks but wasn't sure if it will work with rain collecting system without a pump for pressure. Thank you!!!!
Actually doesn’t need to be cleaned all that often. It’s worked great for us for a long time now. We’ve tried poultry nipples but they don’t tend to hold up well with 150 hens messing with them all day everyday, and on a mobile coop that we pull all over the farm the small hardware gets shaken up and banged around a lot.

Definitely not a fan of leaving all that water in a plastic container. I would never use that.
It’s a food grade container that is drained by the chickens and refilled by the rain constantly. I’m not seeing an issue with it and my chickens are healthy.🤷♂️ Thanks for watching!
Could work as long as you make it where it will autofill the bowl as the chickens drink it down. If it functions only how a normal toilet functions the bowl would get frank dry and won’t refill until it’s flushed.
I like the waterer. Never seem one like it . I think this on3 is a win.
I actually stumbled accross it by accident. So happy I did because it is SO much better than the crappy plastic stuff.

Awesome water bowl. That should make life a little easier for sure.
It already has! Really glad I stumbled across it or I would've ended up just buying another float valve and bucket to break again.
That's some algae green water! We put a copper tube in our watering container and that kills the algae. Doesn't need to be huge.
Love it we will give it a try!
Great idea but I would have mounted it on the opposite side under the wagon! Some protection from things blowing into it and less algae from the sun!
Good thought! May flip it around and see if it slows down any algae build up!
I’ve gone through three other watering systems. Not happy with any of them. I think I’ll give this one a try. Thanks for the video.
We are still using ours and love it. Best method we’ve tried without having to constantly replace something.
Enjoyed your presentation! Thanks for the link to the "toilet bowl" waterer! ha
Thank you for watching!
I really enjoyed the video of you installing the chicken urinal
Thanks for watching we appreciate your time!
Might get too hot to touch in direct sun. Nice size. Pretty cool.

@@MosaicHomestead that’s a great idea for clean out!
@rexsmith5984 I built a easy clean attachment to clean in less than 30 seconds, I have a video.

I use the exact same water bowl for my chickens.
It’s pretty awesome and we are still using it. Made keeping the chickens watered so much easier for us.
maybe hang the brush round behind the drink bowl so its right there each time u need to clean ........;)
I dig the idea because they keep pooping on it anywhere else I leave it.😂
Slick as snot ;)

Not a bad idea at all! Thanks!
It looks like you have a lot of birds, do you think one of these would handle 50 birds so long as they never ran it dry?

Do the chickens jump up there and take a crap in the bowl? That’s my only concern with those bowls other then breeding mosquitoes

Does the bowl not cause the water heat up too quickly ?

Whatever works. Thanks for watching.
Use chicken water nipples they’re 100% maintenance free and doesn’t require cleaning… also the hens are enjoying fresh clean water every day..

has anyone ever tried to use an actual toilet... seems like it could be perfect... you just flush it once a day and it auto fills.
Could work as long as you make it where it will autofill the bowl as the chickens drink it down. If it functions only how a normal toilet functions the bowl would get frank dry and won’t refill until it’s flushed.
