    I don't know if people would think it's bad to like the frozen ones, but the galette des rois from Picard is literally the best thing I have ever tasted!!

    Au Mexique nous mangeons aussi un gateau de Rois Mages, mais ici il à une trous (?) (hole) au centre, comme une grande donnut. Elle s'appelle "Rosca de Reyes" à l'intérieur on cache des petits enfants en plastique. La personne qui trouve un enfant doit acheter ou préparer des "tamales" pour "el día de la candelaria" le 2 février.

      @thierryf67 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ce gateau ressemble au gateau des rois que nous mangeons dans le sud de la France. c'est de la Brioche, décorée avec des fruits confits. les "petits enfants" en plastique sont une représentation du "petit Jésus"... qui remplace parfois la fève.

    in Louisiana, during Mardi Gras, we have King Cake with a baby hidden in it. If you'd find the baby in your slice this used to mean you were king for the day now it means you are lucky and will have a good year. It also means you have to buy the King Cake next year :)

    I grew up in south Louisiana, and we keep the tradition of King Cakes there. It looks different from the French version, of course. Instead of a bean or collector's toy, it has a little baby Jesus, usually made of plastic.

    Scottish custom to celebrate burns day, a poet from the 1700's at the end of january. We celebrate with a burns supper of haggis, neeps and tatties(haggis, swede and potatoes) and whisky. A poem "address to a haggis" is read at the start of the meal. it's not something everyone does, and the formality varies, personally I haven't heard the poem recited for a while but I enjoy making a burns supper and a ceilidh(of which there are plenty around the time)

      Mais c'est déjà très bien !

    the Three King's Cake (or bread) which allied with the traditions around the Epiphany (January 6th) in other parts of the world & in Southern California. The Rosca de Reyes show up in Costco & my local Mexican supermarket the first week of Jan promptly. It's never been sold the week of
    Mardi Gras, so I am surprised to see it for Fat Tuesday in New Orleans. My first taste of the 3 King's bread was in Paris, during my breakfast, I found a baby Jesus in my colorful bread, so I asked the hostel manager & other guests, they told me that the person who find the baby Jesus get to be the king for that day. I think the cake is celebrated around Catholic countries.
