I would definitely get the Armytrix exhaust! I bought one for my 2013 Audi RS5 and absolutely love it! Mine has the valvetronic system so I can open and close the valves whenever I want. Makes a world of difference. Goes from stock sounding exhaust pure racecar. It is so great.
Super interested on this subject. I pick up my 718 Cayman in 3 months . Have looked at most of the available 718 youtube exhaust mod vids - cant wait to see/hear what you think!

Have a look into manifolds. That’s where a lot of the characteristics of the sound are made. The way in which a manifold directs the gasses from each cylinder and how those gasses interact/interfere with each other drastically change the sound.
I have both...the Abarth tugs at the heart strings since my dad had an original 595

I really loved this video, it made me realise that I REALLY want an old school car, with a real exhaust that produces real music from a real engine.
Best 2 car purchases made, your friends all do the same routine, so props for that.

Running a full turbo back borla touring exhaust on my focus st. Brilliant tone, deep and burbly. Borla had a lot of experience with four bangers. Give them a look.
The green is sooo much better, like it more and more every time I see it. Might be worth listening to Subaru exhausts, and seeing if they do anything good for WRX/STIs (or if you want to try avoiding that sound, etc).
Sam if a new exhaust goes on this you could turn up to a JDM meet disguised as a Subaru

For a bespoke custom exhaust you should check out IWS Developments. Specifically tuned to you exact requirements!!
Leave the Porsche Sport Exhaust and swap the stock cats for 100/200 cell sport HJS ones. You'll have plenty enough volume while conserving driveability plus the power bump. A catback system only makes noise and its expensive.

Hi, I have the factory Sports exhaust on mine and it starts to Sound better (tone wise) the more i drive it. It now has 6000km on it. I know you are going to change it anyway but it will get better 🤘🏼
I know you had Larini on your F-Type but I’ve got a full Cobra exhaust system on my GT86. If they don’t have one made they will make one and I’d recommend it!
The best solution to your exhaust problem is to buy an F-type SVR

Well I suggested you get the 981 GTS, with the N/A 3.4 liter... That one sounds amazing!
Fi or IPE should definitely be the way go!! It'll be interesting to see what IPE come up with but Fi is a brilliant option!!!
REMUS or Soul both make incredible sounding exhausts and are fairly affordable!!! I would highly recommend checking those out
Fucking loved the F-type's exhaust, one of the best sounding cars.. when i feel alone at night i sometimes go back and watch your exhaust crackles vid on the f-type and i cry tears of joy..
Don't think that its wrong having that car in exactly same setting like now!! And yes, it is perfect!! Anyhow, whatever you think that it will make you happy, you should do it!

Try running un equal length headers. Newer Subaru's have the same problem with lack of tone (and overall noise) since they made the switch to equal length headers.

look into sharkwerks exhaust systems. They specialise in porches, so they might be a good option.
I’d like to see the cayman with an exhaust that makes the turbo noises much louder! I’ve seen exhausts that just make the whole 4 cylinder louder. Some serious turbo whistle and spool would make for a great sound

i respect your choice but I dont see the point of such a car not being a drop top. I guess I'm biased because I'm 6'4" and cant fit comfortably in such small cars haha
I feel you, I am 6ft and some of these cars are tight even for me haha. I just love the look of the hard top slope on the back of the Cayman. I don't love the way the top on the Boxster sort of just ends. The Boxster looks great with the top down but I can't see that being more than 30% of the time I drive.
I understand that completely. I drive with the top down year round 7 days a week, so I dont usually consider how the car looks with the top up. I agree that the Cayman looks better than a Boxter with the top up, too.

Great car, but can't beat the sound of my Boxster S with a proper Flat 6 Porsche sound. I've modded the air intake and had a custom stainless exhaust fabricated. Sounds the dogs! unfortunately, the 718 just has a nice sound like a Subaru Impreze or something.
Defo IPE. I've heard a GT3 RS with one and it sounds mental! Was following it in the Peak distrcit. Could send you the video somehow
I think that already sounds pretty damn good for a 4-Cyl. I know people say its soulless compared tot he 6-Cyl...but I quite like it.
Can do more POV driving with the Porsche and Ferrari even if it is just nice and quietly in the city!

In the states awe tuning makes a great sounding exhaust for the Cayman.
I would check if Techart has something.
If they don't it probably won't be long until something comes.

You're driving a turbo 4 what do you expect? You can put a quad straight pipe de-catted titanium exhaust on from kreissegg. It still won't sound like anything like the old carrera boxer 6, let alone a 8500rpm shrieking V12

I totally get the whole Porsche pronunciation thing, my dad bought a 2007 911 Carrera 4S cabriolet last winter and we’ve been going back and forth on how to say the name...i like the German way since i’m a huge Porschephile and love all things Porsche but it’s sometimes easier to go the other way being American and not German like you said. Love the daily vlogs!

Could do something different and get PCW exhaust to modify your existing system? They create a partial silencer bypass, and on Porsche's it makes them sound mega. Its a budget alternative to a full system, but would make a really interesting video.
Take a look at CargraphicTS, it sounds pretty good in 911 with turbo engines.

I like the "sche". As a matter of fact, I'd just say "sche" in the future and leave out the "Por" part. As to the exhaust options, I think it's a bit like putting lipstick on a pig (audibly). Especially compared to the earlier Boxster/Cayman models. I thought Tim had a great sounding IPE system on his GT4, but who know what it will sound like on a 4-banger. I am interested in where you go with this Sam, cause I'll probably update/upgrade from my 987 Boxster to a 718 at some point.

Good video and ‘kick about’ re exhausts - I think SOL probably highlighted the essence of the challenge - how much can really be done with a 4 cylinder engine sound wise??
A counter thought - I’ve been a huge F1 fan for pretty much all my life - when the V6 ‘power units’ first appeared I was aghast at the loss of an essential visceral component and rued the day. As time has moved on I learnt to love the new sound of F1 and that’s because it’s the sound of technical innovation and progression - it’s the sound of man creating engineering solutions to a huge challenge ie the loss of fossil fuel plus the huge environmental impact/damage that has been caused to date. I now love the whistles and the muted V6 tone plus the whirr of brake energy being harvested and then deployed etc etc
I’m just saying maybe it’s just a matter of perception and you can grow yo love what it represents instead of what it replaces which are huge gas guzzling naturally aspirated engines of yesteryear....???

Will probably sound even more like a Subaru with an exhaust than it already does. Should’ve saved yourself a few quid & got a 981 cayman with a proper flat 6. Never get bored of the sound mine makes.
I have the new S5 coupe and a little underwhelmed with the stock exhaust. Cant find anyone who does one yet for the 17/18 S5 Coupe
You could get 1" bigger wheels with a smaller offset (all silver, like car Gods intended wheels to be), lower it 20 or 25mm and get probably one of the best looking Cayman 718s in the world.
