7 yrs ago - and this GIFT just KEEPS ON GIVING!! Thank you SO MUCH! I am not sure why but after multiple videos and being coached so many times, the REASONING behind the formulae was not very clear in my head. I get it now! I get it. It makes logical sense. Thank you again!!
This was the third vlookup video I watched, and by far the BEST. I am "Liberal Artsy," and always said I hoped to live a long, happy life and die in my sleep peacefully having never worked with spreadsheets. However, my job is now demanding I analyze data. THIS GUY STARTED WITH WHY IT'S CALLED VLOOKUP IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!! Definitely subscribing!
I was cracking down my head how to use vlookup. Almost spent 3 hrs on it. Thanks to you for your simplified steps !! I got my work done in just 3 mins. !!
I learned how to use VLOOKUP to compare 2 workbooks several years ago - I used to do this work on a weekly basis! Fast forward 3 years later and I've forgotten how to do this! Your tutorial is excellent! It all came back to me as I was watching your video. I'll use your new link to access the practice files! Mahalo!
Maxwell, last week I looked about 20-25 different Vlookup TH-cams, but by far, this was the most excellent one! To the point, instructions was plan, I was able to follow along without so much other unnecessary details. Thank you so much - blessings!!!!!!
Thank you for this! I have been going in circles trying to figure out what I was doing incorrectly. This was so easy to understand! You’re a lifesaver!
Though this Video is 5 years old, it really helped me to get my data sheets compared using VLOOKUP. Also clearly understandable and simple way of communication. Thanks for the Video. Much Appreciable...
Maxwell, I always need to use this function and I just COULD NOT get the VLOOKUP concept. It's Friday after 5pm and I HAD to get one done. I am so happy I found your tutorial on TH-cam. You made it so easy! I can't thank you enough!
Thanks! I used to use it daily, but then tried to remember, and was confused. Watching your video, and downloading the 2 files to do myself made it a great learning tool! Thanks a bunch!
Hi Max, thanks for this one! Was great to learn, Vlookup can be used across correlating workbooks and that you can rearrange the view of two workbooks so that they align with one another and share even space on your display screen
This was extremely helpful, thank you for posting this! I made one observation in addition to your commentary; the column index number is relative to the first column of the array that is being selected. For example, if the array includes column A through C and the value you are looking for is in C, then the column index is 3 (just as in your example). However, if the array includes columns B through D, and the target value is somewhere in Column D, then the column index number would again be 3 in this example as well. Thanks again!
You just saved me with your awesome and understanding guide. I was using this formula and then somebody from work went and messed it all up. Lols, so thank you very much!
Hi - very well done video! I was able to do what I needed after a few tries. I wouldn't have been able without this very straight forward explanation. Thank you!
Excellent ! I am glad I found you as the greatest teacher. Thanks a lot Maxwell for your very well prepared tutorials, for your hard work, dedication. Looking forward for more lessons
Thank you! I'll be creating my next video later this week, with an easy method for "How to Compare Two Lists in Excel" Please let me know if there's anything specific you want to learn, and I'll try to make a video for it!
Thank you so much Maxwell for making our lives easier and definately happier. Your tutorials are always helpful. I have large database >250,000 records. All of them come with Primary key Client ID. I want to build a complete sheet that has all columns that I need which I must extract from different sheets to build the complete one. Problem is you must locate the matching PK Customer ID from all these sheets then copy those cells of the columns you need. Thanks@@MaxwellStringham
@@abraham2699 The XLOOKUP function searches a range or an array, and returns an item corresponding to the first match it finds. If a match doesn't exist, then XLOOKUP can return the closest (approximate) match.
Thanks so much for your video. It's really helped me understand the VLOOKUP function better. I don't know if you're an excel instructor. If not, I think you should be one. Your explanations are very easy to follow. Thank you once again.
Thank you SO MUCH for making this very coherent video! It saves me every time I am asked to do a VLOOKUP for work, which is only about 2-3 times year. So, this is my go to cheat sheet!

the V stands for Vertical lookup not value, as there is a Hlookup = horizontal....
I was just wondering if anyone noticed that. Funny..
Tony Quinn I was going to say that
