for the last two methods, only min and max can be used, rather than using vlookup with min or max, there are other ways to use min and max for look up value to be found in array, which you have not mentioned here.

For smallest and largest values, we can simply use =Min(K4:K8), or =MAX(K4:K8). Why incorporate vlookup? Makes it complex.
Beacuse of that you didn't use lookup

Thanks a lot for the great lesson. I have a question. What's the difference between using Vlookup to find the MIN/MAX and using MIN/MAX function directly?
MIN and MAX are numerical functions: that is, they won't work with text. So if you needed to identify the lowest or highest *score*, you'd use them by themselves. However, if you wanted to return not the score but the *student's name*, you'd need a VLOOKP.

Despite the confusion with min/max in the end, using columns function was pretty clever.
now you can use xlookup instead, it's way more dynamic

What if I want to refer to a table that is regularly getting information added in so that the limits of the tables are regularly changing? Do I just select the entire column rather than limit it to the last cell of that column? Sorry if my wording is confusing

Why do u need a vlookup if you just need to find min or max from a range of numbers ?
I have a question, are the tables should be in same format from other sheets or other files? if so what is the format it should be or in which format we have to convert the data and start applying VLOOKUP?

Thank you for a nice video ! However, for finding the min marks on math, simply MIN(RANGE) looks enough rather than using vlookups. Am I right? However if we have to identify the student with the min. marks in math, that would be a cool task. Could you please explain that?

I use Excel 2019 and manage a RV park. So names, space#, Electric bills and CC charges are common practice and live on a monthly spreadsheet. I have tried over and over to follow your content and keep getting errors....I have reduce the range to a minimum and changed columns numbers ...still errors. What I am I missing? I could create drop downs but vlookup is not accepting the formula...baffled
