In this video I explain everything you need to know to get started with VLOOKUP for Excel. Download the Excel file: www.excelcampus.com/wp-conten...
This tutorial is a follow-along lesson where you will learn to write Vlookup formulas as you watch the video.
It's great for beginners. However, the video is packed with additional tips and tricks for writing formulas that will help save anyone time when writing formulas.
Here are the major topics covered:
00:00 1. What does Vlookup function do and how does it work?
03:26 2. How to write a simple Vlookup formula?
07:54 3. The two main causes of errors with Vlookup.
12:53 4. Vlookup stops at the first match & the sorting myth.
15:07 5. How to create relationships between tables & ranges.
15:55 6. Vlookup to other sheets.
One thing I forgot to mention in the video is the F4 equivalent keyboard shortcut on the Mac version of Excel is Cmd+T. This is for toggling the absolute and relative references when writing the formula.
At the end of the video I mention a bonus challenge (excelcampus.com/vlookup-chall...) that will help you practice and learn additional techniques with Vlookup. This includes:
    - The IFERROR function for handling errors.
    - Dynamic Vlookup formulas for adding and deleting columns.
    - Adding drop-down lists to create interactive spreadsheets.
    - Conditional formatting to highlight rows based on a matching value.
    - Vlookup with Excel Tables and Structured Reference Formulas.
Please click the link below to download the challenge file and get access to the solution videos. It's free!

I can't say enough about this video. It was the first of these tutorials that I have watched and feel ready and encouraged enough to continue with the other ones, too. This video was extremely CLEAR and the pace was right on time. Love, love, love the practice worksheet that was included; it made all the difference to get hands on! Thank you! He explained extremely well. I am very impressed. Generally, after having entered Vlook up we get complex set of function in the bracket which confuses all of us. He explained it fantastically well, putting aside any doubt. I have to perform the formulae frequently in the office; hence, I was tensed since no one teaches it in the office. Fortunately, I chanced upon the most relevant video on Vlook up. May God bless you Jon!You are a great trainer!! Undoubtedly!!!

Recently my boss made the comment when trying to teach me vlookups "I'm not going to teach you everything about this" which left me paralyzed. He went through it so fast and not giving me any opportunity to try it myself. However, it is part of what he "expects" me to know to. At this point I was desperate for a tutor that knows how to teach.
I looked up other on line tutorials, but this one in fact nailed it.

I just passed the Salesforce Admin exam! I got hired to help start up a company and I do not know Excel .. the boss asked me to do some vlookup homework :( This is the best video I have found thus far that hasn't made me want to pull my hair out. :) i used to be a teacher and I can really appreciate a great educator. Gold Star! and Thank you for your effort.

Thanks for the tutorial. I was asked by someone if I could do a vlookup or pivot table. Having to say no was not the right answer. I found your tutorial, followed along, and then went to the 3-part pivot table tutorial. That tutorial inspired me to email my boss with a pivot table I created with beneficial data from our department report. I asked him if he used pivot tables. He sent me two reports and said how quarterly he spends hours pulling data from one and inserting in the other report. It took me three minutes to create a tab where he wanted it, write the vlookup formula, and pull the data into the report he wanted. ( he had already copied the table array data as a sheet so that saved a little time). Two days ago I only knew how to use the sum function. Thanks and I’ll be back for more.
