Mate, not everybody uses TomTom, in fact, I would say most don't. That is no reason to put down a device and say its not fit for touring. About the size of it, there is a 5" version as well, you deliberately got a 7" model, so it is 7", it is not reasonable to then complain about it's size. Could this be you had a bad day, and you strongly disliked that your favorite app did not work as you expected? I would reason a little extra, and probably, had I posted a video like this, would put it down, or at least rename that title, as it is not constructive and does not benefit anyone, other than perhaps TomTom fan users, I'll grant that.
One of your complaints is the size (which you chose the 7" instead of the 5") and the mounting location (which you choose). Also, use maps. I've never had good luck with tomtom.
Yes, there are two options: five-inch W502 and seven-inch W702. You can choose the most suitable one according to the installation location and preferences. In addition, tomtom map does not zoom, Apple and Google maps have no problem zooming. Thanks!
I believe that the Capuride W702 is an excellent alternative to BMW's new navigator, especially considering the price difference. Not everyone goes on a world trip, most will enjoy trips for a few days or taking a ride in the area. Liked the video.
Echoing others comments about the poor quality of the review. You're entitled to your opinion, but this is highly subjective, don't take issue with the size when you intentionally bought the large model, and the fact there's a problem with the TomTom app doesn't mean the product is junk. Several people in my IAM motorcycle group have these units & are very pleased.
@@lifeisarideuk To make sure its not a tom-tom app issue, test Google Maps app and Apple Maps app. Use good old fashioned process of elimination. If pinch for zoom doesn't work for other apps, its a limitation of the screen. If zoom in or out, works with other apps using -/+ buttons, then there is an issue with tom-tom app. Another issue might be, is that all of the apps are not designed for ALL the screen ratios and or resolutions. Even though the apps work on all vehicles that have Airplay for Apple and Android devices. Test various apps, not just map apps as a process of elimination. Cheers.
@@Jayda08 Your review is very professional! Yes, the tomtom map cannot be zoomed in or out while in use. This problem is related to the tomtom application, not the screen. Apple and Google Maps are commonly used navigation software, and there is no problem with zooming. Thank you for your attention!
The Apple CarPlay specifically says buttons to zoom. It is designed to work with physical buttons in a car. So don't blame TomTom or CarpuRide or anyone else
I have this unit and it works well if you learn to work with the software you are using for navigation on your phone. His review is completely useless.
Another distraction , just bought the 5 inch , you really need to stop and adjust the wheel is convenient when stopped but a big distraction when riding . The 7 is same size as Tft screen but for money I think is bette4 than your mobile stuck up there 🤷🏼♂️
Bought one hate it connected but no car play even though I’ve selected it as an option sent several emails to support got nothing from them waste of money I’ll be sending it back
Aio5 is brilliant, and works with the BMW wheel. Cameras are excellent and it's mounted with security fittings. Build quality excellent. Yes you could steal it, but you've got to dismantle the bike to take it. OEM screen has the same issue. I purchased an AIO 5 and thinks it's brilliant
Did you not like the T665 either? It's a bigger screen than the Chigee so I find it easier to see than my old Tomtom. I avoided the Chigee when I saw it was 5inch. Just curious as to your comparison thoughts.
"it's got flaws" ... mate, have you seen the thing called "Garmin XT(2)" ? or the crap of plastic called "Tomtom Rider 550" ? the Garmin can't route (more than 30km at a time and even then is sucks compared to gmpas or osmand). the Tomtom also has routing issue (supuer long and useless detours), along with very old maps (it was just 3 years old in the balkan area).
I hate my Tom Tom for the bike, too many presses to do anything, but, one thing sat nav’s have is that they never lose internet. I’ll stick with my bleeding awful Tom Tom for the time being. Lol
Most idiotic reasons. Aside from the zoom issue, it’s not the devices fault. You bought the 7 inch that had measurements on the website then you complain it doesn’t fit? Just having a whinge..
The W502 is smaller and you're not paying the massive amount more bmw will charge. If it was google maps then perhaps it still needs the two fingers on screen for resizing😊
The truth is that your video is a bad review of the product. Everyone has their opinions but yours are negative and mediocre. I don't have that product, but listening to you I think it is a good product. I'm sorry for you. cheers

100% agree with your comments
What is tomtom?
This is the dumbest review I've ever seen of any product. Tiny screws and light....it must be garbage...lol
@neilparker All reviews should be of this quality!
I totally agree!

7 inch if you have to

So its an issue with one app not the unit.
Props to you to show us, that you are have no idea what you are talking about and how to miss a point :)
My understanding is that Carpuride has a software update that fixes the pinch to zoom function.

Liked the video.
It would be fine if the gloves 🧤 friendly screen worked along with the zoom on maps
If you add a WunderLINQ you have almost full control of a DMD2 using the Wonderwheel. Fabulous combination!
Take a look now 🎉
Have you tried zooming using a two-fingered pinch or spread on the screen itself?
Yes
@EuropeanMotorcycleTours , no, you didn't. The whole video you were just clicking and ticking the right low corner of the screen

Is the unit the 702 or 702b the later being BMW specific!.
What about the Carpe iter, you can use it to control pretty much any sat nav on your phone.
Does pinch to zoom or zoom out works?? But it seems to be an app issue with tom-tom and not the screen.
No, it does not work it could be an issue I agree

If only it had arrived with a BMW logo on it.
You change the logo to what ever image you want

Is you phone 5g?
Maybe also check the Chigoe AIO-5 Lite. Pretty good reviews floating around. It also has an optional CANBUS module to enable use of the wunderwheel.
we have them in stock
The cameras are bad, the price is high , and the big problem is , the device is not removable from the bike.

Why would you use TomTom and not Google maps? How well does it work with Google maps?
Tom tomorrow on a bike is far clearer in it instructions
Hello, yes, using both Apple and Google Maps is fine, no problem, thank you!
Just get the BMW Navigator , WunderLinq or BMW Nav Cradle.
Wunderlinq on order
I hate my Tom Tom for the bike, too many presses to do anything, but, one thing sat nav’s have is that they never lose internet. I’ll stick with my bleeding awful Tom Tom for the time being. Lol
ill buy it off you if you don't like it that much
You just sound annoyed and moany.
You are complaining all the things that you chose. Must be a dumb to do that
Yep must be

You can buy an omega and a brand new GS 1300 and you buy a 200$ chinese screen? cant afford a DMT-865? Do your honework, then YT.
Don't beleive the hype not suitable if you ride in the rain, lets water in and it dies
What a BS!
