This is probably one of the most useful videos I have watched on TH-cam. It allowed me to stop my Carpuride device from fighting with my iPhone over audio control. Why this is not the default setting I hav no idea.
I'm just getting back into motorcycling after an 18 year hiatus and I can't believe how tech on bikes and this stuff has evolved! I'm just about to pick up a used Multistrada and I ordered the Carpuride 702 as recommended by a friend and I'll be using my AA phone to connect using this method. Thanks for the great tip!
That's what I wrote in my last comment under your last video about the Carpuride 😎 Direct connection between the Cardo and the phone is better.
Hope this video helps out a lot of people :D
❤ spero di riuscire a farlo un giorno 😂
Hi . Would you be able to hear the google map audio directions on your cardo?
@@adyxonn yes
@@adyxonn Hi, yes, you can hear the audio directions on your Cardo.
Thank you!! I was ready to rip my Capuride off my bike dues to poor sound quality and phone calls sucked!. I tested it out today and your solution worked!! Thanks again!
Jeg slet med samme problemet og uten denne videosnutten hadde jeg nok slitt ennå. Tusen takk for meget nyttig hjelp!!!!!
Thanks Alex, I have been having problems with my phone reception since I got the unit. Carpuride do not explain the set up very well. You have made this so simple. I'm one happy biker from the UK. Thanks again. Pete.
It is now a pleasure to listen to music with my helmet and phone calls much clearer, so nice one.
I had exactly the same issue. Thanks for resolving this.
Can't thank you enough for this video. I paired to my harley audio and was only able to control the volume through the carpuride. Not it has gone back to how it was before and still have android auto... thank you again
Glad it helped! 😁
Worked for me......thx a lot!!!!!! switching from BT trans to Iplay/auto did it for me..........
Not all heroes wear capes, thanks mate!
You’re the one of the best when it comes to selling a product! Great information I’ll most probably never use or need, but it sure is fun watching you explain “things”. Rola (Oregon / USA)
Yes, he's really good! Most other reviewers talk to long, not to the point etc. But this good man knows how to do it right!🙂👍
Wow, I had a massive problem with the microphone not working and I already thought about this solution and it actually works!!! You're a genius
Glad it helped you out! 😁
Thanks for this. I'll be changing my audio settings this afternoon!
Thank you for this game changer 👏🏻 I have been struggling so bad with the sond before this fix 👍🏻
Well, with a bit of faffing about, and your great video - I now have control of Cardo/music/phone again! Thanks!
Very informative video, just received my carpuride and will be using this method thank you for sharing
Thanks for the corrected version. Enjoyed your video presentation anyway , definitely considered as package!
Had to do it especially since I saw other platforms people complaining about the audio quality, this fix really does fix everything 😁
Thansk Alex, with this new configuration, by pushing on the mic icon on the screen of the W702 unit, the microphone is not able to capture my voice commands. Have you tested this? I am using a cardio unit with the same configuration that you explained in this video. Thanks
It's a limitation of android auto. If you push the mic on the screen your phone awaits voice comands from the screen, but your cardo is no longer conected to your screen so it doesn't work.
@@RideWithAlex Thanks!
Most probably they have an IPS display with both Capacitive and Resistive sensitivity (Capacitive responds to touching, Resistive responds to pressing), therefore you can use the touch screen with your gloves. It is nice anyway. Good luck!
Its also great for a viewfinder monitor if you record videos using rear camera on your phone using the iosmirror feature which doesn’t require wifi. Good repurpose if you upgrade to a car that has carplay already.
Hey Alex, I have a similar unit with what looks to be the same software. Are you also still able to get navigation alerts through the Cardo? I'm assuming the music still plays through the Cardo.
All the audio goes from the phone to the card directly, this setting turns the carpuride into just a screen.
Hey Alex, you are a STAR!!!! I have same set=up and most of the time the voice calls and navigation prompts are rubbish - your advice sorted it. Thak you so much!!!
Glad to help out 😁
You are the best!!!! So much better now....
Hi Alex. Do you run your Carpuride from a usb, or wired from ignition, or battery? Thanks.
Wired from ignition power.
This video just helped me fix my audio issues!! Thanks!!
My pleasure 😁
Sir, thanks for this very very clear and to the point video!
*Question please* : can you listen to music AND use Google Assistant by the microphone AND make phone calls in this Bluetooth setup? (while riding the vehicle)
Thanks!🙂👍
Google assistant doesn't work in this setup, it's a limitation of android auto.
Hi Alex, I’m getting one of these Carpurides soon, would it be possible to just not pair the Cardo to the Carpuride to begin with? That way it’s just the phone to the Cardo, and the phone to the Carpuride like you mentioned. 🤷♂️ Thanks for any information👍
It's android auto that messes it up, you have to set the unit to this setting so android will stop sending audio to it. Android auto was designed for cars where your head unit also has speakers.
@@RideWithAlex Thanks bud👍
Gret solution thanks. I've got another problem, how do you volume up and down when you're driving?
From the wheel on the cardo.
I had to link them by bt trans, cause I need to manage calls and volume by scooter controls. In this way, I tryed yesterday eveving, I can't manage the volume neighter by the scooter conterols nor by the headphone...
Had the same problem with poor phone call quality when the phone and the headset are connected the carpuride but everything else work great including voice commands. So I've done as you suggest and the headset is connected to the phone and the phone is connected to the carpuride but now voice commands don't work. Google assistant is just hanging there and makes the system not very useful...
I never used voice comands the touch screen works good with gloves, but this is a limitation of the android auto ecosistem, carpuride can't do anything about Google assistant in this mode.
Oh sh!'t.. so then Carpuride is the same rubbish as all others...?
Can you use your Cardo microphone with Google assistant on the carpuride?
Unfortunately not in this mode, it's an android auto limitation.
@@RideWithAlex would be nice if they fixed it
Hi Alex, very clear information that i was hoping would fix my current issue. However my 702 does not have the icon for audio output only BT Trans as an icon. Is there a firmwear needed for me to get this icon that you are aware of.
Probably you need a software update. Contact carpuride and they should have a procedure to update the firmware.
Hi Tony. I have the same problem I thought maybe it was because I have an I phone and not android. What phone were you trying. I can only see BT Trans not Audio Output
Sorted it out. You’re a champion!!
Using this method can you still operate the music & telephone functions directly on the Carpuride or do you have to then operate them on your Cardo & your phone instead?
Yes you can, you can operate it on the touch screen.
Hi.
Thanks for your video but it doesn't work for me but maybe I do something wrong...
With your method:
Must my Cardo be connected first with my phone or just my phone on BT without my Cardo connection ?
Must the Cardo apply be opened or not?
Thanks in advance for your next answer.
The cardo stays connected to the phone only. If you have any other issues contact Carpuride directly
@@RideWithAlex ok. I've tried again today with the Cardo connected and finally it works perfectly now! Great solution you gave us, BIG THANKS!!!
👍👍👍👏👏👏
What phone are you using.
I have samsung 24 ultra not sure if ok and compatible
Samsung S23 Ultra
It says not compatible with samsung s23 etc
@JohnGill51 it works fine with my phone as you can see in the video.
How good is the carpuride volume if it's not used with a helmet speaker?
It doesn't have a speaker.
@@RideWithAlex ok, thanks. So I would have to buy something like a Cardo for my helmet?
Hi, my W502 does not have the audio output button but only a BT Trans button & when I open it there is no iPlay/Auto option within it? Any ideas. I am using an android phone if that makes a difference.
Contact carpuride maybe they can guide you how to update the software
Same here. Don't have that function on any of my screens. Reaching out to Carpuride
@@timmangini5745 Carpuride we're very good when I contacted them, they emailed me the most recent software & once installed I now have the option to select.
@@timmangini5745did you manage to get from bt trans button to audio output. I only have bt trans so I can’t sort it
Maybe you need to by the PRO version because it has 2 Bluetooth channels.
Thanks very much for the video it saved my mucking around for hours!
Glad it helped 😁
Thank you for his.
One question for this, is voice navigation turn by turn working with this new audio fix? I didnt try...
Yes it does. Navigation is handled by the phone, the screen just displays the info and map
@@RideWithAlex Tnx
Thanks, I set it up as suggested and it works. The only problem is that when I say Hey Google, the phone recognizes it and sends it somewhere because if I use the Cardo it doesn't seem to go to the unit (with AA enabled). Any suggestions?
As far as I know it's a limitation of android auto but you can email carpuride for extra help.
thank you very much!! one question, because i cannot find anywhere on internet… what about if i want to connect a second helmet? how intercom would work? i’m planning a trip with my wife but i really would like to have intercom as well with her… thank you!!
Intercom works no problem, I've had intercom with pasanger and these settings and everything works fine.
@@RideWithAlexthank you very much!!
Bluetooth 5 can't do stereo phone calls it's always had a problem
I have a l200 and have it connected this way
Alex, do you know how to flash the start up screen so you can use your bike logo and model in start up?
No ideea.
To confirm, you had Bluetooth connected on your phone at the same time, right? I'll be trying this tomorrow!
Yes
Any suggestions on getting the date & time to stay set, I turn car off night before next morning date & time is wrong and needs to be reset. customer service was no help.
I just use android auto always so I don't care what date and time the unit has.
thanks for the video, I had the same problem with my cardo and the w502. I can't control the carpuride with SIRI (when I say ok siri nothing works) so I think the real solution is here! It was very annoying, for example to pick up the phone with the screen because the SIRI control does not work... so dangerous ! If it's a software problem, can you confirm the software version etc.? Thank you so much
Update to the latest version or ask carpuride for support. It should work on all units.
Hello,
I bought w702 in January.
I tried several settings, but when I share the music with my wife, the music often stops. I moved to Iplay and the same. I have version 1.7
Contact carpuride, unfortunately I don't use the sharing music function of the Cardo so I can't test it.
The fix is correct but it eliminates de option of listening music from the TF(SD) card
Oh sh!'t... why are there no device who can do all that we want? I want to be able to listen to music, get my navigator instructions , make phone calls AND use Google Assistent while talking into the microphone of my helmet bluetooth set.
The real fix would be a correct version of the softare and improve the communication of the unit with both: Cardo (or Sena in my especific case) and the Android phone (S22+)
Hi.... In this device, at the same time shall we connect two headset Bluetooth devices... So that the pillion rider can enjoy the audio.. Is it possible... Plz reply me..
Never tried it, my pasanger listens to her own music from her phone.
I'm about to try this right!
does google assistant work in iplay/auto mode? it responds to the ok google command for me but then when it gives a command it seems like it doesn't hear me... how is it for you,
No, Google assisnt doesn't work for me in this mode.
Thanks for this hint - now it's working fine!! But Voice search won't work for me. Is it working for you?
Google assistant no longer works, it's a limitation of android auto, I don't know Carpuride can do anything about it.
@@RideWithAlex Here is the answer from Carpuride - they are really fix
Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
If the call quality is not good in BT trans mode, the MIC volume can be adjusted, and the MIC volume is generally set between 10-20. If you feel that the call quality is still not good in this mode, it is recommended that you use iplay/auto output.
Steps: Disconnect and delete the connection record of the Bluetooth headset in the 702 BT trans interface, switch the 702 output mode to iplay/auto, then turn on the mobile phone and pair the Bluetooth headset with the mobile phone Bluetooth. In iplay/auto output mode, audio directly from the phone Bluetooth, Bluetooth headset, the sound quality/ volume is more real.
Sincerely,
Support
Did you figure out how to get the mic to use Google assistant?
No, it's a limitation of android auto, until Google recognizes that we've started using Android auto on motorcycles they won't fix it. It's called android auto not android moto unfortunately.
Shame. I had an old android auto head unit. (Pre carpuride) And it had an option to take audio from mic on the unit or mic from cardo
This fixed me. Thanks!
Hello, after each stop do I have to redo all the settings? THANKS
Nope, it's set and forget
@@RideWithAlexDo you have any instructions or writing from Carpuride? THANKS
@@gerardcarrio6706 what they told me is in a video, it was just a discussion via email.
Thank you very much, this was and is a great help to the same problem I was having !!
I just figured this out, but problem now is,.I don't get navigation audio. Is there a way to fix that?
Hmm, that's weird. I get navigation audio with these settings :/
Hello I'm from Italy.
I understand? You have connected phone with carpuride and Cardo on our phone? Is correct and god??
Yes
@@RideWithAlex thanks...👍
Nice one Alex 🙂 What happened to the ending music ?, lol
Just a short video :)) a quick and dirty edit because I wanted to get the information out for everyone as quickly as possible.
Alex could you please check out the Piaggio Beverley 400cc
If I have the opportunity then yes.
great video with good instrucktions
My issue is I use earbuds (Samsung buds) paired with S22 on my moto. I would like to control audio/calls via the W702. I have not been able to configure this. I usually use a separate BT handlebar controller for audio control.
Earbuds were never meant to be worn on a motorcycle unfortunately, so your experience will be not be that great with them.
@@RideWithAlex The noise cancelling is excellent!
@RideWithAlex many thanks Alex. Finally got it working through the earbuds and your video was a big help.
Thank you, it helpt a lot. The sound is great now
I'm I missing something but when I do that it tells me to connect phone to helmet , but volume is very low ??
Check your phone's volume settings.
Thabk you for the clear explanation
Is it easy to steal? can they just yank it off ?
If you mount it properly then no.
You solved my problem 😊
Thanks
Voice control / Google Assistent does not work with Android Auto via the headset. What a shame...😢
That's a limitation of android auto unfortunately maybe in future updates Google will fix it and adapt it for motorcycle needs.
@@RideWithAlex I hope so because in the other mode (BT trans) , voice control via headset is working but only for a shirt time and then it just stops respondent to 'Hey Google'...😢
Sarebbe fantastico poterlo ascoltare anche in italiano, o comunque avere i sottotitoli in italiano. Io vorrei capire quale e il miglior modo per fare le connessioni. Grazie
Sorry but I don't speak Italian.
@@RideWithAlexgrazie Alex sono io che purtroppo non parlo inglese, tu hai fatto bene a spiegare il video in inglese, perché logicamente è la lingua più parlata.
Another wonderful video with fantastic information
thank you
much appreciated
the very best you, always
Wow Fixed. Thank you for sharing
My pleasure.
Ok, Alex...you just made a fighter jet from a scooter...Zontes engeniers will hunt your head down :D
It does look a bit spaceship with both screens 😂
At this point I'm honestally wondering if there even a point to this compared to just installing a phone on the central stand and using it as the media device instead! I mean 7inch is already the same size as most phones nowadays.
1 - The touch screen works better with gloves than any phone I've tried
2 - You don't need an expensive antivibration mount for your phone to not destroy your cameras
3 - You can keep your phone away from direct sunlight or rain and protect it
4 - Less drain on the battery during navigation means a longer bettery life
5 - Android auto interface is made to be used on the go so the buttons are big and it's easy to use while on the go (maps for example doesn't have pinch to zoom it has + and - buttons and that is much better when you are on the move)
@@RideWithAlex fair enough, tho this screen is plugged in, a plugged in phone would keep it's battery full anyway. everything else I did not consider, they sound like decent reasons
@@Abd121 yes but a phone constantly on the charge will degrade it's battery, and after 1-2 years you will need to replace the battery. I can do 8-10 hours of navigation on my S23 Ultra without having to plug it in and still have 25-30% battery left for the evening.
@@RideWithAlex that actually depends on the phone, some phones like mine actually have battery bypass like what laptops do, so it ends up not really being an issue.
@@RideWithAlex 100% agree, After using Android Auto you will NEVER want to go back to just using your phone. Google are making the interface better and better all the time
Neat fix!
What you LOSE with this configuration, unfortunately, is the ability to use your headset microphone with AA, for maps and messages, etc. There appears to be no perfect solution
Might be right, haven't tried it but with how well the screen works with gloves I didn't feel the need for android assistant.
Very disappointing... are there no systems on the market that fixed this? (I believe iPhone uses a double BT connection?)
It all works except the Google assistant.
That's a limitation of the android auto eco system
😢
I Just saw you getting on your scooter leaving Lidl today :P 10May2024 at around 13:30 :P Hello

@@RideWithAlex wish you a good lunch
@@mmihai87 thank you! 😁
Grazie mille per questo splendido fix. Una domanda: Ho degli interfoni v6.Con questo metodo di connessione sarò in grado di ascoltare le indicazioni stradali di google maps e parlare contemporaneamente con l'altro passeggero con l'interfono?
