It wasn't there first concert since Jessica left but it was close. It was their first performance in Tokyo dome and they all dreamed of performing in Tokyo dome as 9 members. But they performed as 8

This song is so damn emotional and powerful for the Korean public and SNSD, but this performance in particular was extremely emotional because it was their first time singing this song (their debut song) since their 9th member Jessica left the group.
*you’ll notice they left a gap for Jessica in the middle of their line, while performing*
Idk if it’s still argued what went down that day but suffice it to say Jessica had no intentions of leaving the group. So the entire thing and entire concert was rather emotionally charged.
This is such a bs take people have been running with for years when in reality they cried because it's their debut song symbolising their journey. It's not about Jessica, get over it.

They were crying because they showed their debut pics highlighting the journey they made to get there. And they've cried pretty much every time they've performed ITNW ballad since then. Girl in purple is Taeyeon, the main vocalist and leader of the group (and a big soloist in her own right, she's the one who sang the "Fine" acapella you've reacted to earlier)
It's such an emotional performance because it's their debut song, without their ninth member Jessica, at their dream concert location The Tokyo Dome (performing here means that you've REALLY made it career wise). It's such a kicker in the feels

The concert was suppose to be a farewell tour for their then member jessica jung. The climax of the tour was suppose to end in tokyo dome where all of them dreamt to perform for so long. Sadly, jessica was let go by their management before the tour starts. The song was their debut song and their first time performing it without jessica, that makes it more emotional for them. And for some who doesn't know, the song into the new world is being played sometimes in the dmz in the border of south and north korea as a motivational song that can reach north koreans for them to have faith in the new world.
It also became a theme for the protesters during the 2016 protests against President Park. Btw - this wasn't the end of the concert - they actually had to come back and do a very long encore set
U know what jessica really anticipated this concert when she bragging on fancafe she cant wait for tokyo doke concert and this is just sad she cant even fulfill her dream

The VCR was actually their audition clips and they look like babies because they literally are. One fact about Girls Gen being a National Girl Group is because they were trained for so long.... They were all around 12 when they started training except for Sunny who trained with them a little later. This is also why first and second gen idols of this company are families to each other since they were young and grew together. Love your reactions always.

SNSD was my life for alot of my later teen years. I got into them in 2007 and was a fan ever since. It was really sad when Jessica was booted from the group. This is their first concert performance after Jessica left. Into the new world is their debut song.
Alot of girlgroups today looked up to them. They paved the way for girl groups today. (ofc SES, FinkL, Chakra, Baby VOX did as well). In a time where boy groups were dominating they were able to contend with them on the charts and sales.

Girls’Generation originally got 9members. This performance is the tour performance without one member (Jessica who left the group at 2014). This is their debut song and they chose to sing it in ballad version that’s why they all got emotional. Anyway, do you see that they kept one spot at the beginning where they stand cause they always did this whenever a member got busy on other schedules or cannot make a performance with a group but imagine when they already knew that they gonna lost one member to perform with them on stage forever how would they felt since they never want that to happen to them. 🥲🥺
