Piano version of the Carousel Waltz from the Richard Rodgers / Oscar Hammerstein II musical "Carousel." I have wanted to play this piece for many years, and absolutely adore the music of Richard Rodgers.
I have never heard this played on a piano exclusively! The arrangement is brilliant! I think it so closely mimics the orchestral sound of the original. I was a professional pianist and I would have loved to play this piece in my younger days when I had a piano.
Brava!! This is the first time I heard “The Carousal Waltz” as a piano solo and it was a thrill to listen and watch you enthusiastically play. This is one of my favorite Richard Rodgers piece. Did Rodgers create the music on piano first and compose this piece with orchestra in mind? Every time I see a live or film version of this fabulous musical, I am always bewitched with the overture of the “The Carousal Waltz”, as it indeed thrills my heart! Thank you for this beautiful piano performance!
Staccato? NO!! It's a waltz and I just loved your interpretation of it as a waltz as it is supposed to be. All the others are a little too fluid and hear them all the time. I liked your attack on the piano and would also be great for a ballet studio for timing etc. It's a beautiful piece and you came across nicely. Do it again!!!
Excellent job at playing this difficult piece! Do you know whether this is the original piano score as Dick composed it (i.e., as he gave it to to Don Walker to orchestrate); or a transcribed arrangement made from the orchestral score by an anonymous arranger?
Purchase the full vocal score from Hal Leonard - I modified the reduction a bit to make it sound the way I wanted and to match orchestral recordings a little better.
Terrific job on this! It's a magnificent piece. I bought what I thought was a pretty good transcription but I don't think I like it. Are you willing to either part with or sell the arrangement that you used?
Amazing arrangement and great attempt but seemed a little pedestrian at times. I’m sure it’s difficult to play faster in this arrangement, but then that’s what piano repertoire is all about. Good job though,
Hi , very nice , but I agree with Kurt, pleeease, play and film it again with the camera over your shoulder so we only see your hands and the piano , slow it down just a tad, more fluidity, your almost there.
+easy writer Yah! Vat is dis upper wid dis? Dis iz nein un POLka, danka....dis iz der schmaltzy Americen Valtzy-schmaltzy. Volks iz tryink to danze in long dressen to dis, gib dem un break...danka.
Am I LOSING IT. OR DOES THAT PIANO SOUND HARSH ,DISCORDANT, & OUT OF TUNE, THE PLAYING IS ABSOLUTELY FIRST CLASS& DESERVES A FIRST CLASS PIANO.
And yet, there's an added thematic authenticity to its being played on a vintage sounding piano.
Splendid ... feels like we're on a circa 1900 carousel ! We are THERE.
Fantastic playing. I love this waltz and as one of my favorites. It takes a lot time and determination to master it and you have. Hats off to you.
I used to play this on the piano when I was in HS in 1963

The intro of Tunnel of Love , from Dire Straits' Wembley show uses part of this beautiful song on saxophones. Such a wonderful music to hear !
I lost count on how many times I watched this wonderful performance. True inspiration
It's a VERY tough piece. I'm learning it now. But an absolute THRILL to play!! SO MUCH can be done with it. Thank you for showing it!!
Loved it to bits! And I liked seeing you playing, not just your hands. Beautifully played.
Bravo!
delicious! well done.
Just beautiful!
the level of cadence and character in this is incredible. you take such care with it and the result is spectacular.
Fantastic, I have heard you playing this about forty times now and will never get fed up of hearing it, love it.

Yes, I have the same question. Where is the original score as Dick wrote it?
cool!
Bravo

I'd love to perform this!

a little too staccato for me--not enough fluidity

Sounds more like a pub pianist and harsh heavy playing
Piano is terribly out of tune.
