I get sentimental about t-shirts that have meaning to me. I had a difficult time throwing away that one from the Eagles or Myrtle Beach although they might be worn out. By the way I’ve been on this journey for about five years.

Thank you - it kills me when “true minimalists” (if there is such a thing)- try and say you aren’t one. Come on, you don’t have the claim for something like that. True, I can’t claim I have won war medals or an Olympic medal (because I don’t), but for something that is not a measurable thing…lol minimalism is different for everyone. It is about being intentional about what you have and clearing th background noise that affects you and help you be calm and less stressed.
I do understand when you said doing a clean before you sort. I have to have a clean spot to sort, a “landing zone” to sort my piles. It is my “but first cleaning”.

Ita so weird, I seem to declutter alot but everything ends up everywhere anyway. I have kids but I love looking at my house when it's the messiest so I know how many things we own. Then I start there... Maybe we're done, we seem to use everything but I still get overwhelmed

Hi there!!
I have two thoughts on this:
1.) are you being intentional about what you’re allowing into your home? While decluttering is not a one and done thing, and it is an on-going journey, being very mindful about what’s coming into your home can help a lot!
2.) have you implemented systems? Things like cleaning, home resets, and organizational systems will help to keep the clutter at bay!

Does anyone else have to sort all the like together before they get rid of things? I know that I have bought multiples of items because of all. The crap I can’t find it - so I purchase another. I have so many multiple- oh holy bat wings it is crazy!
