WOOHOO NEW YEAR NEW CLOSET!!!? Not actually gonna have a new closet but at least I have a little less stuff I don't really want/need. Comment a 😤 emoji if u spot me doing a sniff test on a t-shirt hahahaah I totally meant to cut that out but now it's a fun little easter egg
Every time I watch a video of you I think “omg, whatever she likes to try, she tries, she is never afraid of starting new things like TH-cam, Art Shop, Patreon, Twitch” and you Sau you need to learn it. I think you are able to do way more than you think you can!
Omg this is exactly what I was thinking watching this.😮 Whenever she said she wants to try something she did it. And I admire that so much because I wish I was more like that. Gabi you got this! You already achieved so much. You have it in you already. Going to the post office can be scary. I was scared too but after a while you realize it's not so bad. Maybe try going with a friend the first time you go so it won't feel so scary.
If it helps, you really made me want to declutter my closet. I have so many things I don't wear or can't wear anymore that I've been hoarding. So I will be doing my closet declutter this week and weekend. Thank you! I always enjoy watching you process through things it helps me feel so not alone. Happy New Year!
was listening to this in the background while cleaning and i literally whipped my head around in shock when u said "playing stardew valley won't get you out of a rut" because i've spent like 30 hrs this past week playing 😭😭
i think what worked for me (in case of never being happy about the amount of things you did) was setting a week ahead goals in the times when i was overworking myself i tried to do everything in one day, which didnt work for me so i set my tasks in terms of weeks, not days also i had to remind myself that i couldve done nothing and that i cant be doing everything without resting because it wont take me further sorry if something is bad worded, english isnt my first langusge
i just saw your decluttering videos today, and its not just the content, but i fell in love with the way you speak about what you're doing/how you're feeling. the honesty and practicality just shows in your actions, its inspiring me to be more free with myself
Here's my mantra anytime I get stock on perfectionism and sense that I'm spiraling and it helps: "done is better than perfect". Then I take a couple of deep breaths (box breathing is great) and "chuck it in my f*ck it bucket"
Thank you for this video! Not only was it satisfying (for some reason I love decluttering videos- especially closet decluttering) but it was also relevant and helpful. I have been in a depressive slump for pretty much all of 2023, and I’m over it, but I’m having a hard time coming out of it. This video gave me some actionable steps to try. So thanks! I hope we all get out of our slumps this coming year and live our best lives. I love your style, btw!
Get rid of the socks!! I’m proud of you! I’ve held onto socks with holes because I don’t like being wasteful, but treat yourself! And, Subset (formerly Knickey) has a takeback program so you can recycle socks, tights, bras, and underwear without feeling bad anymore. Also super helpful for all my old dance tights lol
I recently got house slippers and I wish I’d done it sooner. I bought some that look kinda like shoes, but also are super comfy so I don’t feel like I’m wearing pjs all day (but if that’s what you desire…why not?). Some nice house slippers could be your holey sock solution. 🧦 🕳️
Girl, I feel you on the having anxiety going to the post office... I am 32 and get anxious doing basic things like asking an employee a question at a shop because I am scared I am going to inconvenience them in some way.
I am three months late with this advice but something that helps me be satisfied in my current spot in life is looking at the progress I’ve made in different areas and just being grateful for them. Like I was living with my grandmother (which I’m so blessed to have been able to) and I moved in with a roommate recently which was a great move for me. It put me in a city I wanted to live in and gave me some freedom I needed. When I find myself wishing I was further along in school or making more money I remind myself “2 months ago you were living with your grandmother and now you live in a cute apartment with a good friend in a good city” and I just ruminate on that gratitude. It is also kind of a being present thing.
This! I kind of do this in a similar way, where I remember something like at how this time last year, I was so anxious about getting into the school I wanted, like constantly nauseous and having late night panic attacks over the fear of not getting in. And now, a year later, I just finished my first year there and only have one more to graduate. It really helps me to put into perspective how temporary my anxieties are, which gets me "unstuck" from my loop of making simple things a life or death scenario lol. And like you said, it helps to be grateful for the good that's already happened.
i moved in May and had my own rock bottom then, decluttering and making sure that my wardrobe felt genuine to who i wanted to be was a HUGE step towards getting out of it! love your content and wishing you the best on your journey
omg I love how your movements support your talking :') it is so satisfying to watch someone use their body to communicate and explain stuff (me, also a dancer) 💫
I'm also 25 and since the last couple of years I have some anxiety. And exactly like you say as well I punish myself for not doing enough during the day even if I have done some things or need rest. Great to see that I am not the only one and hopefully we can overcome it a bit in 2024!
for the “never enough” mindset , i struggle with it so so much as an artist and i think it’s the inner critique that never turns off but ive found it so helpful to reassure that part of my brain. remind myself that my journey is my own and my timeline is for me only so it’s okay if not everything is always perfect, but as long as i am showing up as my best self that is enough
You’re doing amazing! Think about what you did that day and not what you didn’t. What i personally do that helps me is I make my bed every morning and if I can’t think of what I did that day then at least I know I made my bed
I'm sorry you have had a tough year. It's been a rough year for me too. But just seeing you try to look forward to things and have those goals? It is inspiring honestly. So thank you for what you do. You make a difference more than you know
what makes an item special is that you can be yourself with it and not because of it. this video in particular made me smile for you. Im an artist too and we have very different lifes styles but I find some tips from you to be very helpful. thank you gabs & happy 2024!
I can honestly relate to being afraid to go to the post office!!!! Like how does shipping worrrkkk. I’m 26 and honestly hearing you say that makes me feel 100% much better knowing that I’m not the only one!!
I absolutely love your content! I've only watched a few videos but can see that you share similar passions to me with your art and I love your awareness of sustainability with thrifting and wanting to repurpose things so that nothing goes to waste. I am a 19 year old girl and I don't want to bash other young girls but it is so refreshing to see a TH-camr/influencer who is ACTUALLY a good influence and is conscious about the environment and consumerism. So much of what you talk about is very relatable and I feel like your have a lot of insight for someone who is only 25. Please don't stop making videos, love thissss♥
5:23 My coworker had said something to me that absolutely changed my mind about how I think of my day to day life. On days where you don’t feel like you’re allowed to be happy or do things that you actually want to do, think of it as how you would want to treat your best friend? For eg: “would I make my best friend clean all day?” Literally no ffs lmao I don’t know why it’s so hard to find a balance.
That "never enough" mentality always hits me hard. I could've been running around doing hundreds of things in a day and it would still feel like I could've done more.
omg i just finished your last decluttering video from a few months ago & subscribed to see what other videos you had and just saw this!! literally perfect timing i'm inspired now & you're amazing
Thank you so much for putting out this video, I have been struggling for awhile and not knowing how to help myself. This video helped me feel better and realizing a few things I should understand.
Advice for the "how to be satisfied" when you feel like you're not doing enough or not where you want to be: I struggled with this A LOT when I was working towards my dream dance job. I never felt like I was making enough progress each day to actually get closer to my goal. My husband told me (he doesn't even remember where he heard it) that each and every minute of effort is worth something. Like when I was practicing my pirouettes and I wasn't feeling more solid or confident, I reminded myself that it's ok because I still put in the time to work on them that day. And each of those days of many minor (and not clearly noticeable) progress eventually added up to something...when I eventually got the job! Slow progress is still progress! This is also a great reminder for myself because I'm going back to school after 10 years out of college 😳 PS I feel like we are so similar - I'm a dancer as well and I love making art. I'm going back to school for graphic design!
I totally suggest looking into schemas of thought and DBT therapy to process your feelings! This really helped me to unpack my academic guilt around 'not doing enough'
Love your videos Gabi! I think anytime you choose to take action in bettering your life instead of scrolling or watching tv is a win. I think life is hard and tiring a lot of the time but investing in yourself instead of just being a good little worker bee is really powerful and deserves celebrating. It’s super scary to try and pursue your own thing that’s why most people never do and remain “shadow artists” as Julia would say 😉 But every time you devote any amount of time to your dream, by drawing or learning about small business or productivity and mindset even if it turns out to be a dead end was you actively working to achieve an idea that you had in your head. I have personally found that being kinder to myself has helped me try a lot more things. To expect to be great at something your first time is kinda crazy when you think about it so I definitely think tiny steps forward are worth celebrating 🙂 I also loved the book Atomic Habits by James Clear which talks about how those tiny steps or changes can give you major results. Hope that helped in some way!
Aw thank youuuu so much!!!! It is so scary but you’re so right about being kind to myself. So so so important and it’s harder than I’d like to admit. Appreciate you so much ❤️
I just found your channel and this video because Im trying to motivate myself to declutter and get out of a slump, it hit so hard when you said, watching youtube and playing stardew because that is literally what Im doing.. So I really enjoyed your video and have subscribed to your channel! Thank you and hopefully we both get out of this slump in 2024!!
You're amazing, goob 💕 Your thoughts on how you need to see that it can be a good day.. 🤯 that is it, that was the piece to that puzzle for me. Thank you, thank you for sharing what you do here. You're an inspiration to so many of us. Much love, kid, & keep it up!!!! 🩷💕
As a fellow Etsy seller, it’s validating to hear I’m not the only one to get anxiety over going to the post office 💛 I’m better now, but it also helps that I moved to a small town and the post office workers are super friendly here.
I am I a really bad mood and I'm going to declutter some clothes. Thank you. I also want to make TH-cam videos but I'm struggling so much to start. Hopefully in the new year, love your videos x
Hi! New here. Needed to share my small biz knowledge. The way I avoid the post office time is buy my postage ahead of time. 100/10 worth it for my shop. All i have to do is drop it in the bin
I’ve been DYING to get a standing desk. Which one would you recommend? Now I wanna go thru my clothes again! Also I love watching you. I’m a young civil engineer and have a very similar feeling. I’ve also been living in the rut and wanting to rot in bed with a book. You inspire me and my artist mind. Continue being you 🫶🏼
Hi Gabi, I know this isn’t art related but could you make a video about how you got your NBA dance job?…how long you’ve been dancing, do you have any formal dance training etc?
I definitely can talk about it in the future!!! but quick summary I've been dancing since I was like 3 lol but took it serious in high school. Did college dance team and then did Steezy classes to train for NBA tryouts!!
for the problem with the holes in your socks, you might wanna get some slippers? O: they will protect your socks and yes you should definately have socks without holes. I really loved seeing your progress on this and all the talk and commentary
i just read the short lil fiction book "a psalm for the wild built" by becky chambers and that rlly helped me feel satisfied with what i do or don't do! i'd highly recommend it
I understand the never enough mentality but personally I am satisfied with all the imperfections of life, if they werent there the true beauty of things wouldn't shine as much. Every thing that you do is amazing, simply because you did it. Life needs to be lived and I think that instead on focusing on what to avoid its way better to point out things that you enjoy and work off them. For example lets say you made a video where you dont like the intro but like your outfit, you can always make another video with a nice outfit which is gonna make u more confident and then make everything better. The thing is to focus more on what makes you feel good and let go off things that bothers u because in the end you choose what gets to you mentally
The feeling you’re describing is capitalism. Under capitalism, your productivity is directly tied to your worth and value. It’s also heavily rooted in ableism, we could go into how women feel if harder than men because of misogynistic societal tendencies, but at its core it’s a byproduct of capital. The best thing for you and your community is to unlearn that ish.
literally wearing socks with holes rn saying out "i deserve socks without holes" .... did smth to me lol yeah i deserve socks without holes you know? Thank you for that!
I've been watching Sunny Kabucha's videos for a while now, and it seems like her star's really taking off. I think I remember the video where she first draws the design you have on your shirt from her. Do dancers go through socks faster than the rest of us? Great video, with lots of good advice.
Maybe this will help with the "never enough" mindset, i would start to question the thought with how much more time do i truly have when i can spend it with loved ones. With some of my family health turning for the worst i really am trying to give as much time with them as possible and everything else becomes minor setback.
My thing is what do you do if someone you care about gives you clothing that's not to your liking?👀🤣I only wear certain colors because not every color goes with my complexion. I like wearing things that my skin and eye color pop 🙃
This might not be the advice you want. I practice forcing myself to be in uncomfortable situations until I get comfortable. I call this tactic “being comfortable with uncomfortableness.” For your situation, you might be able to force yourself to accept that you are not satisfy with what you create. Over time, you would get used to the feeling and cope with it naturally. Hope 2024 will be a good year for you!
Not you saying “unfortunately staying at home and watching TH-cam videos and playing stardew valley is not going to get you out of your rut” while I’m playing stardew valley and watching this video 😭💀 9:46
i think to be more happy with what you do you can ask yourself if your 10 years old self and your 80 years old self would be proud of you, because these are the two person worse comparing to :)

“I think I like it it think I want to have one flannel and, sometimes when I’m sad I put it on” is my favourite part of this video so far
Thank you so much for being here and being ✨ YOU ✨

When I wake up feeling in a slump, I make myself put on a stylish outfit and get myself a little treat. Helps my day reset.
I needed that talk so much. ❤
watching this knowing i need to do it too is great 😭 let’s get out this slump for 2024 together!
I'm just about to do a closet cleanout, so this was timed perfectly!
Me too ☺

Your thoughts on how you need to see that it can be a good day.. 🤯 that is it, that was the piece to that puzzle for me. Thank you, thank you for sharing what you do here. You're an inspiration to so many of us. Much love, kid, & keep it up!!!! 🩷💕
Oh I’m so glad I helped that click happen for u! I love having those lightbulb moments of “woah that’s how my brain works??” Haha ❤️

As a fellow Etsy seller, it’s validating to hear I’m not the only one to get anxiety over going to the post office 💛 I’m better now, but it also helps that I moved to a small town and the post office workers are super friendly here.

Hi!

Actually, dye them with some rit
afraid of going to the post office too :)
GLAD IM NOT ALONE!!!
gorgeous video, I really need to do a clean out too 😊
When you hit your 30s, "being okay with the status of things" slowly starts to get easier.
That’s so cool!! What styles of dance classes did you take?
I saw TofuGoob and closet clean out and had to click 😂😂
Watching your video as im cleaning out my closet. Haha
I loved all your tips! Very helpful. Look into Abraham Hicks on ways to work on being satisfied. Or Matt Khan has helped me too.
i loved this, thank you!
Thank you🙏 you help me soo mutch❤ you are so lovely
for the problem with the holes in your socks, you might wanna get some slippers? O: they will protect your socks and yes you should definately have socks without holes. I really loved seeing your progress on this and all the talk and commentary
i just read the short lil fiction book "a psalm for the wild built" by becky chambers and that rlly helped me feel satisfied with what i do or don't do! i'd highly recommend it
Omg that title is intriguing 🧐 I will have to check it out thank u for the rec!
The thing is to focus more on what makes you feel good and let go off things that bothers u because in the end you choose what gets to you mentally
omg i have post office anxiety too
Where did you get your black and white couch pillow from?
7:18 I am 33 and I have a fear of the post office. Why? No reason. Just cuz.
Maybe this will help with the "never enough" mindset, i would start to question the thought with how much more time do i truly have when i can spend it with loved ones. With some of my family health turning for the worst i really am trying to give as much time with them as possible and everything else becomes minor setback.
it is too early (checks watch and sees that it is 9 PM) for me to be called out about my youtube video and stardew habits!!
HAHA
I can’t fault u it’s my fave thing to do too :,))))
I found you through decluttering recommendations . I’m sticking around and subscribed because your picture of a duck 😂.
My thing is what do you do if someone you care about gives you clothing that's not to your liking?👀🤣I only wear certain colors because not every color goes with my complexion. I like wearing things that my skin and eye color pop 🙃
What song was playing towards the end of the video?
i need to do this too... 90% of my clothes are unused and gotta go.
The Artists Way is a great book you should check out :)
She has it😂
I noticed it in her last declutter vid
Nah but when you really called me out when you said to do stuff besides play Stardew 😂
Gen Z has entered their "RAWR! I'm so random" phase.
Therapy??nah who needs that when Gabi gives us therapy but better
I think if I clean out my closet like this I'm left with nothing lol
Gabi, you remind me of a Clairo song
I feel you on that urge to dress like a quirky art teacher 😅
Look into the Japanese philosophy of Wu Wei ✨️
Gurl I’m 34 and I still can’t go to the Post Office

i think to be more happy with what you do you can ask yourself if your 10 years old self and your 80 years old self would be proud of you, because these are the two person worse comparing to :)
