I had seen this video a couple of times in the past. I just recently stumbled upon your ArtStation profile. What an Amazing work!! 👏 I'm currently working as a seasoned Arch Viz artist. This video motivated me to work hard on my portfolio to switch careers and pursue a 3D Matte Painting path for VFX! Thanks mate. 🙌
wow, amazing work! Cant believe how good your result is right out the render without compositing. will defenitly follow you and hope to see more of your videos.
You must be the best Gaea user I know. I thought I was good haha, nope! I like how you layed out the work starting with and advanced soil then added the higher places, very clever.
@@arpeegee_studio Thank you, but I don't think so. This is actually a really simple setup. To get a tiling terrain I copied the foreground tile and mirrored it in max. You can not see the repetition because the camera angle is so low.
Do you know any more in depth tutorial on the techniques you used in this video? I'm familiar with Gaea and have a basic understanding of MAX I'd really like to push my understanding with some more complex projects like this
Thanks for sharing first of all! But how do you add the river map into the main terrain with the texture map of the grass and soil? Can't seem to figure it out, thanks in advance
Thanks for comment! The river map is just a mask for a water material that is part of a layered material. Base is the terrain grass material and on top is the masked water material . I hope this helps!
Thank you, I only used one texture, but I duplicated it to have a copy that is rotated by 45 degree in uv space. Then I used a noise to blend the two instances of the same texture. This should remove repetition very well. Thanks
Love this bruv... Did you use the free version of GAEA for this? Can't seem to export the mesh I created...it's still a little buggy it seems but no less tasty. :)
just insane ! really amazing. is your terrain texture color from gaea ? your entire process is so simple and efficient, how much time did you spend on this amazing piece ?
inspiring! I would love to see a full tutorial on this! Question: the grass, is it just a material with a noise in the displacement or bump, or is it scattered?
@@Jaredvic Yes I am still planning to post a more detailed tutorial on terrains. I recorded something a few month ago I hope to put it online when I find some time. Thanks for your interest!
This was so much fun to watch Falk! Thanks a lot for uploading. I hope you will upload more timelapse videos in future.
Thank you so much!
@@falkboje yes please keep making more of them!
Amazing job, appreciate how you shared this timelapse, love those, subscribed hoping to see more

also, how did you tile the foreground terrains? With the gaea zero borders node?

Thank you :) !
Amazing, thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
really cool work !

Amazing work!

Wow..thanks for sharing
These hardsurface models that were placed in the box are assets that you bought or modeled, they look very interesting!
really inspiring !
Thanks!

@@falkboje many thanks for replying, much more clear now!

Hello great video!, I wanted to ask you how you avoid UV repetition, how many ground textures do you have?
Thank you, I only used one texture, but I duplicated it to have a copy that is rotated by 45 degree in uv space. Then I used a noise to blend the two instances of the same texture. This should remove repetition very well. Thanks
This is Houdini??
Great work
Thank you! No was done is 3dsmax 2021.
Can you upload full video without speedup in next time ? Please
Really nice! Arg! You cut off that awesome little platform in the foreground I thought this might ba a clarisse video... Did you make that kitbash?
Thanks, I felt that some details were not as important as the overall composition. No this is using the Megastructure Set from Vitaly Bulgarov.
What kit was used to make the gate?
Hello, I used a kit called Megastructure by Vitaly Bulgarov. Thanks
Whag software is this?
I used Gaea for terrain generation and 3dmax for scene assembly. Thanks
Love this bruv...
Did you use the free version of GAEA for this?
Can't seem to export the mesh I created...it's still a little buggy it seems but no less tasty. :)
Thank you so much! No I used the Indie version for this video. Which is in my experience a lot faster than the free version.
@@falkboje Just purchased it. Totally agree!
just insane ! really amazing. is your terrain texture color from gaea ? your entire process is so simple and efficient, how much time did you spend on this amazing piece ?
Thank you! Yes the diffuse texture is from Gaea. I think I spent roughly 4 days on this image.
@@falkboje great, Thx a lot for your answer! Hope to see more detailed breakdowns like that :D
What plugin did you used for clouds?
Clouds are generated in houdini and exported as a vdb file. Just load the vdb file in vray volumegrid to get them rendering. Cheers!
@@falkboje Thanks bro!, have you tried blender?
@@bbrother92 I have yes, I am using it for certain tasks.
@@falkboje Where do you think 3ds max is better?
@@bbrother92 It is more robust for bigger tasks, supports deep rendering for instance.
This is awesome! How did you get the Gaea tiles to match up about 2mins into the video?
Thank you! I copied and mirrored the same tile on the left and right side.
@@falkboje So simple and elegant!
What have you used to create the clouds? Nice scene!
I used Houdini to create them with a very simple setup.
你将来会出教程吗 很想拜你为师
Thank you, I will try to make some more tutorials in the future./ 谢谢,我以后会努力做更多的教程
inspiring! I would love to see a full tutorial on this! Question: the grass, is it just a material with a noise in the displacement or bump, or is it scattered?
Thank you! Doing a full tutorial is something I might try again in the future. You are right the grass is just a shader with a noise in the bump.
@@falkboje just bumping this since I’d love to see how you made it look so effortless.
