    I like the TC, especially the rack mount option. Always thought the best cleans were done by Mesa too; call me crazy but the Electra Dyne nailed the warm ear pleasing low end with sweet sounding highs with no sharp edges or brittleness.

    I really like this tone, and i love he doesnt have a pedal in the chain. I dont like when an amp (being broad here, not just THIS amp) that is supposed high gain and people demo it with a drive pedal. I wanna hear the AMP, not the amp with an OD pushing it further.

    • @josephcastro3058
      @josephcastro3058 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When people use an OD pedal on a high gain amp, especially a high gain amp, they use it for the sense and purpose to enhance the natural EQ. It sound counter intuitive but the reality is the OD pedal is being used as a “clean boost”. When being used as such, the gain is normally turned entirely off. The only settings on are the volume and tone knobs which enhances the overall volume of the amp and the tone knob tightens down the looser low ends of the EQs on the amp. It’s an amazing trick that not only cleans up the “flubbines” of the amp but i feel like it brings out the amps true potential.

    • @lawngnome412
      @lawngnome412 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah i get that. i am just saying i wanna hear an amp for itself, not enhanced. just a pet peeve of mine, and i know i'm in the minority usually with it

    • @francismcfadden3305
      @francismcfadden3305 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like when demos show both personally. It's nice hearing what it's gonna sound like with an OD in the front because it's such a common thing to do to tighten up the sound. What I do hate is when I can tell someone post eqed it and/or put a Impulse response on the amp instead of micing it (especially if it doesn't have a line out and just has a send and return because that bypasses the poweramp)

  • @weareanimals5189

    Had mine for around 6 years and never looked back... I swap speakers cabs once in a while, and played with different tubes, that's it. I simply LOVE this amp and consider to get a second one, to daisy chain them (there is a way to do that). I have tried and owned a few Mesa before, Marshalls and Orange. Nothing beats the TC for me. Versatility and SOUND are definitely 2 great qualities it has. Thanks for the vid and great riffs, as usual.

    How would you try and compare the Triple Crown to the Revv 120, especially in terms of covering a wide sonic palette? Or are they just two totally different beasts?

    Dude! I'm here in Seattle too.This is a spot on review. I just picked one of these up to replace one of my two Marshall JVM's, and I'm about to kick the other one out the door to buy another as backup. This amp is what Marshall was trying for in the JVM, no doubt. I'm more old school, I have a 4x12 cab that runs a pair of g12c greenbacks and a pair of old circa 1980's Gt-75's, and with this cab, I can do anything with this amp. With this speaker configuration, I use the Drive/Tight switches as a means to turn this head into a Plexi-ish amp on steroids when engaged to a Mark I on steroids and way fucking beyond when switched out. The MIDI switching is one of the reasons I've used JVM's, in addition to loving Marshall tone. I need the quick switching ability for live work. The switching in this amp is just as good if not better than the JVM's. I literally think this is one of the best amps ever made. Those 50 years of amp designing experience really show up in this one.

    I am going to buy one of these. I think, just me-These are the most versatile amps in the universe. Just the fact that you can access different tubes, speaker sim, on feature I love and do not see very much, (It can not be that expensive) an FX loop access on the footswitch) and many more to mention. I wish you had more time as I think you would have shown more versatility, like the official mesa demo. I am glad you like these. It gives you and you great channel more validation!!

    thanks for posting a review so quick after the tc's release. To be honest the thing that I find most enticing about this amp is the drop-and-play switching between el34's, 6v6's, and 6l6's (if you go with Mesa's tubes). songwriting is also pretty sick on this demo too

    Hey Fluff. I'm looking for an amp close to the dual rec sound? The reason I don't want the rec is because it is too big and too loud for what I need. I'm looking at the Mesa recto verb 25 head and the Mesa mini rectifier. Thoughts or suggestions?

  • @unmike19

    Hey Fluff, What do you think of the DI out? Is it as good as the new hughes & kettner grandmeister 40? Is it simply a good out that doesn't change the tone?

  • @jamesjin8839
    @jamesjin8839 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey fluff, I'm about to pull a trigger for either a recto or EVH 5153. Just one question that is how is the new reborn(multi watt) rectifiers compare to previous version in voicing? I've read that they are more focus, tighter,less fizzy and has more upper mids now, which is everything I DO NOT want at all. I'm going for the old "horrible" rectifier thing, typically that explosive low end(cannible corpse) and that razor edge fizz(soilwork stabbing the drama). Can I still get that with the new multi watt dual rectos? Thanks.

    Fluff, would you say that this amp is serviceable for bedroom with the master volume as is? Trying to find a good tube amp but I don't gig (yet). Most 50W tube amps just get loud way too quickly.

  • @wanteddoa7929
    @wanteddoa7929 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’ve owned this model since 2020, played through a Bogner 212c cab. Put a lot of hours on it. Tubes finally started to die on me last month after 3.5 years (to the point that string changes had little effect on a guitar) so I replaced them today, and holy crap I’m in love again. There’s a color to the dirty tones on the Lo and Hi channels that is beautiful. Each gain stage is usable. And the cleans are a marvel; I think you’d need to go vintage Fender to find a better clean tone. Well done, Mesa.

  • @GGillett77
    @GGillett77 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    First off, great video. I recently bought the TC50, just some personal opinion here. I have owned almost every amp on the market, Marshall JMP - 800-900-DSL, Friedman, Splawn, Dr Z, Mesa MKIIC - MK IV - Single Rect - Dual Rect - Nomad, - heartbreaker - Maverick, Rivera, Randall, 5150, Bogner Shiva, and Ecstasy. I always found the only amps that had that upper mid cut needed, and the ability to be chime. especially with a rolled down volume knob were Marshalls. Everyone is hung up on low end these days. Those low frequencies are not inherent to the guitar, they actually are getting into the bassist's territory. When you put a mic on an amp you can have as much low end as you want VIA the PA. Marshall, and Splawn were the best at cutting the mix hands down. On to the TC 50. I played this amp for less than 3 minutes before I bought it, that's all it took. The TC 50 is absolutely the most versatile amp I have ever owned, and all 3 channels are great. I personally use PRS McCarty guitars, and run the presence, and Treble around 12:30, mids at noon. This amp cuts the mix better than any mesa I have played to date. To me this amp sounds like a Bogner Ecstasy, Marshall JCM 800, Mesa Rectifier, and a Fender Vibro king had a 4sum, and a baby came out of it. I chose the Mesa vertical 2x12 cab so i'm not throwing my tone at my ankles on stage, and i can keep a small footprint for the tighter stages.. Dont let the 50 watts freak you out. the difference between 50, and 100 watts is only 3db. If you need a louder amp, the sound guy will probably pull your guitar out of the mix and you will sound like crap. In short: this amp is just a bad ass, don't be afraid to try it, and turn those knobs, they really do have a purpose on this amp. as Fluff mentioned in the Demo, it's really nice to be able to dial in your volume with the nice gradual sweep of the volume knob. Hats off to Mesa on this one, great build.

    Great video! Is this loud enough to play live shows and be heard over a drum kit though?

    If I wanted to write and record some vocals to the song that you wrote for this video, would that be alright and could I get the song to do so? I love it and I wanna do some Palms style stuff to it. Thanks either way, love that song!

    Sweet I didnt know you were local! I got my 2x12 mesa cab from them. I think this amp would look nice on that. I also have a red RK2. :) Would you say this has more of a Marshall tone? You mentioned the british voicing a few times so I am curious about how it fits. The midi is a really nice add to switch from an ES-8 etc.
