cant edit my comment: that means a mesa 4x12" Traditional is 1099 $ @ sweetwater in the us and here in europe its 2100 $ at thomann (the cheapest store in europe for most stuff)
isn't it only a few hundred more than some chinese buzzy amps that people buy all over the US? It's only 2700 or so not on sale!! The EVH Stealth is over 2k man!
Fluff.....i was at chicago open air this summer. I seen a t-shirt, it said "Fluff you, you fluffing fluff". I took a picture of it to send you but lost the sd card it was on. I thought it was hilarious
thanks Fluff soooo much. You made me buy the TC-50 after watching your vid, and now I will figure out how to get the JP2c before Christmas !!! my pocket is crying !!!!!!
I never tried this I tried the mark V 1x12 combo and I don't know if I just suck at setting up the EQ on the mesa but I could not get it to sound good and it hurts my rock n roll soul😢
So my question is, Im tossed between buying the JP-2C or the Mark V. I play metal such as Dio, Queensryche etc but orignal band. We are are a hard rock/Metal band with some modern metal, which one would you recommend?
Fluff - could you comment on the JP-2C vs the TC-50, specifically for high gain applications at bedroom volumes? How about in general, if you had to choose just one? Thanks!!
hi, friend!! I hope you are well, I have a question with this amplifier regarding how to use the equipment with headphones without the speaker playing, I do not want to have accidents with the amplifier, that is why I am asking you how to use it only with headphones to practice at night. To use with headphones should I leave the SPKR switch OFF? Is it correct to do it like this? or is it done another way??? I hope you can help me, I will be attentive, greetings from Chile!! 👍👍
Having the angled mic pointed at the dust cap just doesn’t make sense to me. It makes more sense to have the angle pointed at the cone so that it’s parallel to the cone and chunkier while the straight ahead mic at the edge of the cone and cap gets the brighter sound.
louderthangod The purpose of the clip is to keep the mics time aligned so you don't get any phase cancelation. You can still do an off axis technique if that is the sound you're looking for. You only have to move "one mic" until you like what you hear, instead of having to relocate two individually. It saves a lot of time when running a dual mic configuration.
musicmason I know, I have the same clip after Fricker mentioned it, I just noticed a lot of people (like Fluff) pointing the angled mic at the dust cap but when you see people do this 45° setup the old fashioned way they have that mic pointed parallel with the angle of the cone so the off axis mic is a bit darker and more scooped and the on axis mic is bright and crisp. Pointing at the dust cap gives you two flavors of bright which might be fine but I doubt is what most are going for. I did this myself till I thought about it and now I like it much better...I also use a vintage Unidyne III which also sounds better than the stock 57 but that’s another story.
David Fernandez The Mark V has 9 more modes of operation. Clean, Fat and Tweed for channel 1, where the JP-2C is only the Fat mode. Channel 2 has Edge, Crunch & Mark 1 modes while the JP has only a IIC+ mode. Channel 3 has a IIC+, a Mark IV and an extreme mode, while the JP only has a single IIC+ mode like channel 2 but with a little more gain. On the V, there are also character switches for each channel The V has a single graphic EQ, but it has a Contour control for each channel. The JP has 2GEQs and MIDI, which the V doesn’t have.
What he is saying feature wise is true. But the JP2C is a direct copy of the original Mark IIC+ circuit. Not just a mode like on the V. The idea was to create a modern IIC+ not a Mark VI. The Mark V is a different beast, consider them brothers.
The Petrucci has massive transformers in it and I’ve found that big transformers PUSH the sound way harder out of your cab, so even if they were the exact same otherwise (which they aren’t) you’d feel the difference
Ive had two Boogies, a Roadster right now, and played several more. They all lack something i cant put my finger on. Every tone you get out out of it sounds so crisp and refined, theres no rough edges which i don't really like for rock, metal or heavy blues.
have you done a video for it yet? I wonder what the neck feels like. I always wanted to have a bad ass tele model but none of the fender stuff appeals to me and the friedman models are just ridiculously pricey, this Balaguer is reasonably priced.
They really are called "Bench Cookies". What the writing on them says is "Bench Dog Tools". They are made for holding wood when cutting to keep from slipping but in this case to hold the head to the cabinet and to isolate it some from vibration from the cabinet. Mesa Boogie started using a isolating mount on heads starting with the Mesa Boogie MKIIb amp. I believe they called it SUS Mounting. My MKIIa doesn't have it, but my MKIIb does.
Hi Ryan I'm wondering do you know what I should do to get rid of the harshness and tighten up the bottom end of my Meza 35 Mark 5 35 watt combo? Thanks don
Hey Fluff I see you have the Mesa boogie jp2c on top of your Mesa boogie TC-50 would you say it's a more superior amp than the TC-50 being it's so much more expensive
Real talk Ryan... I never bonded with my mark V. I thought it was a bit on the dark side and kinda woolly and when I tried to get it to cut a little harder in the top end, it got really abrasive. I tried it through several cabs with various celestions, scumbacks, EVM12L classic, etc. and just... nothing really grabbed me. I loved my mesa studio preamp and miss the hell out of it and would love to return to that classic IIC tone but want a full amp and not have to go back to a rack setup. does the 2C share a lot of the voicing of the MK V or does it actually dish up authentic IIC tones? FWIW, I had a MK IV side by side with my V and I thought that despite lacking a lot of the features of the V, the IV demolished the V in terms of just pure quality of tone. ESPECIALLY in the mid-gain stuff. Channel 2 was like "A night with Petrucci and Jordan Rudess" in a box and I think that the Studio Preamp I had was pretty much Images and Words in a box. I guess the thing with the V that I can reflect back on is that it didn't really have an identity. It tried to do too much but I never could find a tone that it did exceptionally well. I had the same problem with my Bogner Ecstacy Classic. Amazing tones but I just couldn't stop fiddling with it trying to dial in IT'S tone. Hard to describe...
Cool. Yeah I want the old boogie tone and feel like the old Dream Theater and Metallica stuff but I want the reliability (warranty) and extra features of the new boogies. I may give the 2C a shot if I can find a deal on one used.
NOTICE ME, FLUFF! Since you've done a Century 200II demo before, would you consider demoing an another legendary high gain solid state amp - the Ampeg VH-140C (or VH-150, same thing)? That head is 5150 of solid states, yet there are no decent quality demos anywhere.
better late than ever.. but i guess where the water gets some sweat dropped the price... fantastic piece of gear - should have Noise Gate built in just like JVM410hJS
Guys I've heard this amp played by him live. I've played it myself. It is the greatest amp in existence
What grade did John Petrucci get in amp designing class?
a C+ :D
When he says “you WONT be disappointed” He’s not kidding. No BS
"John Petrushi" - Fluff 2017
John Belushi
Josh Bellucci
Jock Gadouchi
John buscemi
Juan Petchulli
Best tone I've heard on this channel.
Relive the yester years of all the Mark's and Studio Pre amps I owned. Hands down Mesa's best amp...from Clean to Mean...any style of guitar music!
One of your best riffs ever from all of your videos.
GREAT playing, GREAT song, GREAT video! Thank you!
This amp is next on my GAS list. I got a TC50 rack and love it. I think I'll get this in a rack as well...once you go rack, you never go back.
Mesa Boogie doesn't like Europe
(the continent not the band)
I think they just have a really shitty distributor, like Ernie Ball. :/
indeed we have. the 4x12s of mesa were raised by about 700 $ in the last 2 years alone. :(
cant edit my comment: that means a mesa 4x12" Traditional is 1099 $ @ sweetwater in the us and here in europe its 2100 $ at thomann (the cheapest store in europe for most stuff)
$2,499 / € 3.899 for the amp in the video
yeah, that's just so sad. :(
I mean...it better sound nice for that god damn price
And it should provide a hand job mid set for that cost.
isn't it only a few hundred more than some chinese buzzy amps that people buy all over the US? It's only 2700 or so not on sale!! The EVH Stealth is over 2k man!
@@mickeymice2004 exactly!!!!! Worth every dime!
@@mickeymice2004+$1000, I see it listed as 34-3600 new
It's a really full sounding machine, this thing is just brutal! Mark series is a whole open sounding path. It's amazing
Dude The Man himself John Petrucci shared this video on his facebook today. You are doing good work bub.
That song was pretty bangin. Also nice job showin off my dream amp.
Fluff! We need a Mark v video!!!!!!!
Fluff.....i was at chicago open air this summer. I seen a t-shirt, it said "Fluff you, you fluffing fluff". I took a picture of it to send you but lost the sd card it was on. I thought it was hilarious
Could have used a smidge more gain but good rock tone
My favorite amp
The amp sounds amazing!
What's the orange thing it's sitting on and why is it there
Ryan Bruce ahh good thinking!
Ryan Bruce do they protect the tolex at all? so it doesn’t leave the feet marks?
Fluff how would you compare the JP 2c+ to the triple crown which I was always curios.
crate718 I would love to see a TC-100 vs. JP2C comparison
I like this amp's distortion-character more than all other metal amps every time i hear it!! Never heard it in person though.
thanks Fluff soooo much. You made me buy the TC-50 after watching your vid, and now I will figure out how to get the JP2c before Christmas !!! my pocket is crying !!!!!!
Amazing amp tone. This one and jvm410hjs are to be had. Pity Mesa is so expensive down under
Maria Wicks so expensive in the US too. But top notch quality no doubt
About 3000 euros in continental Europe.
That sounds really good. Love the tone. My favorite thing was how clean the attack is.
How does this compare with the multi-watt Dual Rec it's sitting on?
Tian Lee that’s the TC-50 it’s sitting on.
Ah I yeah I wasn't paying attention. Question still stands though.
Legend says the question is still standing tilll this day
I never tried this I tried the mark V 1x12 combo and I don't know if I just suck at setting up the EQ on the mesa but I could not get it to sound good and it hurts my rock n roll soul😢

Personally I think either would be a good fit. The jp2c is next level.
@@lockedowngThere both awesome, I have the mark 5 35 and it kicks ass.
Gg man, Petrucci thanked you on twitter for saying nice things about this amp!
How does this compare to the triple crown in heavy chuggy stuff/versatility and overall musicality? Thanks man!
Fluff - could you comment on the JP-2C vs the TC-50, specifically for high gain applications at bedroom volumes? How about in general, if you had to choose just one? Thanks!!
Sounding great fluff

It's just so crunchy. The mark series is honestly why Mesa boogie are a top brand
Agreed 100%
First time ever I hear fuzzy 2C sound. I thought it cant never sound that brittle on high gain. Congrats.
Sounds great! You got some pretty cool riffs going on in this demo tune.
An original mark iic+ is my fav. Just something about it catches my ear and sounds tighter and angrier
Active settings were my preference for the pickups
Sweet video! Other than the second eq, what other difference from the Mark V?
David Fernandez The Mark V has 9 more modes of operation. Clean, Fat and Tweed for channel 1, where the JP-2C is only the Fat mode. Seconded!
me too
Shaved head makes this look like a video from the early days of the channel.
Sounds much better that the Rectifier series imo!

I think they call that mids bruh ;)
Where’s the hair dude?
Ryan Bruce Lookin’ fresh now
Ryan Bruce I really liked your haircut, but the new cut is fresh too
What's the song in 1:35?
It's also pretty small for a 100W head.
Good demo. John Petrushi's demo is all right too.
That amp sounds F'n great!!!!! Thanks!!
Sounds massive! cool video
Since you bought both this and the Triple Crown 50, how would you compare them? Any chance of a comparison video?
Yeah, the video is about the amp but DAT RIFF IS INSANE!! 1:40
i loooove that guitar, is it a Thicket BB?
have you done a video for it yet? I wonder what the neck feels like. I always wanted to have a bad ass tele model but none of the fender stuff appeals to me and the friedman models are just ridiculously pricey, this Balaguer is reasonably priced.
The Cantrell Project Have you seen fenders Jim root tele?
i have seen it on videos, but to be honest my problem are the necks. cant stand the fender tele necks. But maybe this jim root is different?
Honestly, what has better distortion/lead..the JP2C or the KSR Gemini? What is your favorite?
What are the orange things the amp is sitting on ?

What a great amp
Hey Ryan, could you do a shootout A/B of the different Fishman pickups? I'd really like to get a set but no idea where to start. What's your fav?
with all those guitars, what's your string change schedule like? I've only got about 5 guitars and I'm not changing strings as much as I used to.
Awesome sound
Hi Ryan I'm wondering do you know what I should do to get rid of the harshness and tighten up the bottom end of my Meza 35 Mark 5 35 watt combo?

Can you comment on the difference in quality for metal tone from this amp compare to the Mark V 25/35 on the 2C channel?
Hey Fluff, What do you like better for heavy rock, the Mark V or the JP-2c? Thanx, Jason
That thing is a MONSTER
Jesus tap dancing Christ, FINALLY!
Hey Fluff I see you have the Mesa boogie jp2c on top of your Mesa boogie TC-50 would you say it's a more superior amp than the TC-50 being it's so much more expensive
Sounds amazing! Did you use that amp on the Rr Record?
What are the tools under you amp ? Look awesome
Dude! Thanks so much for showing the words on those orange "bench cookies" been looking for something like that. Cheers! Love your shit.
Is there a 2c+ petal ?
You still dig this amp, or are there better alternatives now/.
What is that guitar? Looks cool.

Can u do a video on just your settings on that beast? Maybe toss a few pics up on instagram where you landed on both EQ and the amp?
how much the mesa boogie JP-2C? please?
Current Price $2,749.00 USD.

JP-2C costs,
Wait for it ...
$3999
it gone up $1250 in 3 years ...
Thanks Gibson 🤣

What are those puck you use under amp?
This or Randall Satan? What should I get?
Mesa vii or this ?)
That Rigs of Doom shirt isn't going to last. Cheap quality shirt and graphic. Wash it once and it's gone.
How is your guitar tuned in the first configuration?
Mesa Boogie JP-2C is totally kicking ass. Would love to see you covering some of Lamb of god musics. Can you pls?
Dayem.......John Petrucci just gave you a shout out on Twitter, Fluff!
How is your guitar tuned in this?
What are your thoughts on the engl invader II?
What song is playing in the intro?
most amps sound similar through fluffs mixes but holy fuck is this one a step above everything ive ever heard
John Petrooshi?
The amp is bad ass of course! I want a set of those pickups though
I need one!
Love this amp. Also the Mark V. But they way too expensive.
It's a life time investment. You won't need anything else, after owning one. If you think about it, it's not an impossible purchase.
Hey Fluff make other test with those amp, with other guitars and pickups bro !
better late than ever.. but i guess where the water gets some sweat dropped the price... fantastic piece of gear - should have Noise Gate built in just like JVM410hJS
Help me out this or the generator 120? This is killing me lol
