MESA/Boogie TC-100™ Ch. 1 - Andy Timmons & Doug West - Clean Tones & Attenuator

- Andy Timmons joins Mesa’s Director of R&D, Doug West, for an in-depth exploration of the Clean and Clipped tones of Channel 1 in the Triple Crown™ TC-100™. They also explore the attenuator of the TC-100 to highlight the added drive potential it offers for sweet clipping and vintage gain sounds as well as finding the tube sweet spot on the attenuator for quieter home playing and practicing.
Recorded with Andy’s signature Ibanez AT-100 with DiMarzio Cruiser neck and middle pickups and a Dimarzio AT-1 bridge pickup, through his pedalboard and into the Triple Crown TC-100 head and a 2x12 Rectifier Compact cab. Mic’d with a Shure KSM 313 and a Shure SM57 and blended 50% each.

I purchased this exact rig (TC-100 & 2x12 Rectifier Compact Cabinet) in-person at the Mesa/Boogie Hollywood Store 5 days before this video was published. I am pleased that I chose well. This amp is a BLESSING and sounds incredible! Used in conjunction with George L instrument & Quantum speaker cables (Recommended by Mesa Boogie - Hollywood Store), I have a rig that can easily cover all grounds! This is the best amp that I have ever owned!!!
How can people not like this. There ears must be broken.
I hope you guys get Andy to do this with the other channels as well - it sounded incredible!

I have this amp. Clean channel is passable, but it's def not the level of a Fillmore or California Tweed. I have to roll off all the mids or it's far too warm to get glassy cleans.
I never use the built in overdrive of the clean channel, but it does take pedals well.
The gain channels are where it's at with this amp imo.

For now, I will go with Filmore 50 Combo (still waiting in Europe)!

Any chance you could strongarm the suppliers in the UK to reduce the prices Mesa? I need both kidneys.
Delay or reverb is essential for these amps to bloom.

Why is there a little light on the input jack of the guitar cable going into the amp ????
Hi MrWolf - the green light nearest the input jack is the channel LED that lights up when the Ch. 1/Clean channel is selected. There is also a Blue LED that lights up when Ch. 2 is slected, and a Red LED that lighhts when Ch. 3 is selected. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

What’s up with the swelling of the reverb decay?
They are bringing the gain back up on the room mic so you can hear the talking too soon - it’s while the reverb is still trailing off. It’s not the amp itself but ya, really sounds distracting.
Sono possessore di un amply rectoverb 25/10 non lo cambio con nessun altro amply al mondo.
the reverb in this amp is realy bad i use a boss rv 6 in the loop insted

I agree this amp just does not sound good...Andy is a great player, but ugh the tone is not happening for me
