Best demo. Demonstrates exactly the effect of each knob and switch. I just swapped mine from EL34 to 6L6. I’ve already got Marshall’s that do the EL34 thing just great. This amp seems to have really well balanced harmonic mids and really shines with 6L6’s.

All I can say is holy shit. I'm totally into that tone. I guess 6L6 is the way I'd have to go in that amp.
I have this amp and have run both... the 6L6 setup up is better for big chunky chords and riffs where I found the EL34 did better with leads and more percussive palm mutes and riffs. Cheers
Have 6v6s in mine now. Will no doubt run 6L6s in this when those babies burn out!

The TC-100 with 6L6 is where this amp roars particularly with the norm setting Just opens the amp and gives it oomph!

Great tone! I've been thinking about swapping out the EL34s in my TC-50 for 6L6s. Which Mesa 6L6s did you use? Did you notice any drop in volume with the 6L6s?
I have a Fractal Axe-FX III and the TC-100 is my favorite preset for high gain territory. What I've done is put a 5 bands graphic EQ (with the mandatory V-Shape ala Mark series) in the loop and it sounds glorious! Might actually grab the head eventually if I ever found it at a good price.

Does the Friedman BE-50 have as much gain as the TC-50?
No. Less gain, but it sounds/feels pretty different. Friedman is more hot rodded Marshall and brighter, the Mesa is darker sounding. IMO The Mesa is the better amp and is a little cheaper but built as good or better.
stock preamp tubes? it sounds gainier than mine ,but could be the p90s i usually have.

Congrats...you turned an EL-34 Triple Crown into a 6L6GC Dual Rectifier by buying more tubes! Why not just buy that first!? You aren't even driving the power amp enough to make much of a difference.
It sounds like a TC-50 with 6L6’s, not a dual rectifier. You’re not going to get these types of cleans, tweakability, or tightness out of a typical dual rectifier.
