EDIT: Hope you all enjoyed the video! Also I just uploaded a video of me FINALLY Playing Morrowind and that was an experience...
Surprisingly I didn't find that many bugs in the game. Which is a first for me and Bethesda.
Also is the DLC worth getting?

The Shivering Isles expansion is one of the best in gaming, up there with Witcher 3's Blood and Wine, Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty, and Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree.
      Absolutely recommend you get it.

Despite numerous helpful mods, I always keep a notebook with open tasks, a page for what I need to level up next/train, and another page where are the trainers. MW holds your hand less, and you will have to learn a lot there but it is very rewarding. Recommend you always carry at least one strength restore potion especially when you visit underground lairs (not fortify potion). Looking forward to your playthrough there.

My biggest recommendation if you are going to play Morrowind, is to use cheat command line and set your Speed to 100 right at the beginning. This is literally required to play the game at normal modern speed, it's not even a cheat, otherwise you will literally spend 50% of the game time walking around very slowly.
Daggerfall had fast travel, Morrowind was actually the odd one of the bunch that removed the feature. There are in-game "fast travel" such as boat and magic transport. Morrowind do not have quest markers so half of the quests are finding the location, there are online detailed Morrowind game map, I recommend just using it. But I actually enjoy this walking aspect of the game which forces you to explore and it make the game world feel bigger.
You should play Morrowind with the OpenMW frontend, it is better than the original launcher and also fixes bugs.
Another tip is that you need to play this game with a certain mindset. This game is very open for players choice, you are meant to take advantage and exploit the game mechanic. If you play with modern games mindset where devs lock players into a narrow playstyle it won't feel as fun. That means you can stack attribute potions, such as using Intelligence potion to massively raise your magic points, and create custom spells that does massive area effect or damages, or jump across the game map in one jump (fast travel). If you feel too strong though I would use the difficulty slider.

I am going to second the "look for an actual map" comment. Morrowind is from an era where games came with physical manuals (and paper maps) and it is assumed you have access to these to understand how to play the game.
Even with a map, some directions are really obscure, so be prepared. Nothing that a quick google search can't fix though.

    • @greenscheme2040
      @greenscheme2040 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

There is a single belt mod or something that increases your speed to about the starting speed in Oblivion. Also one that regenerates your magic like Oblivion because in Morrowind you either have to drink potions or sleep to get your magic points back to cast again. (Kill something, run far away, take a nap, then run back to the next group in the cave gets to be a drag fast).
Goggle "Lauranas" for these plus one that gives the Scamp more money so you don't have to stand there for 2 weeks "making change" over and over again when selling upscale armor etc.

It's just so damn charming, even when it's being a bit buggy. And funny enough, I think the main questline is kind of the worst part of the game. So if you do keep playing (you should) you're in for a wild ride.

Happened in Morrowind as well. I've no idea if it was done on purpose, but it seems clear that a metric ton of the NPCs were meant(?) to annoy the sheet out of you. 😂 My favorite thing was when they'd interrupt your action, force conversation, but you were in the midst of clicking rapidly, they'd barely speak, dialog box would cancel, and you immediately slash them. 💪😎✌️ Nice.
And then... there was the "forbidden chicken" in Skyrim. You know the one; it was GLOBALLY flagged that if you killed it, absolutely *everyone* on the face of the planet wanted your dumb arse in a sling for poultricide. Actually game-breaking without using the console ("~"). 🤣😂🤣

The base graphics of Skyrim are lower res. They're over a decade old, and the age shows. But they're a massive jump from Oblivion, and for me, Oblivion falls short of the line and Skyrim teeters close enough at the border to be palatable, and is more than good enough with modding.

It is everything else in the game and the DLCs (Shimmering Isles especially) that make Oblivion the greatest game ever. Play it again but follow this pattern ...
Give the Amulet to Jauffre, close first gate in Kvatch, storm the castle. During this do not, NOT, N-O-T ever open a dialog with Martin!!!!! If you stop after this you are the Hero of Kvatch and NPCs worry about the threat but nothing ever happens regards the main quest ever again.
No Oblivion Gates open in the land. Nada. The main quest only re-starts when YOU want it to ... if ever. To do that go to the Kvatch refugee tent site. Martin is there happily living his life peacefully. Talk to him then and the quest starts like it was just hours after you closed the first gate as far as the main quest is concerned.
But the real joy of Oblivion is doing all the other quests in the game. "Whodunit" (Dark Brotherhood) and "The Ultimate Heist" (Thieves Guild) are worth a replay just for those two quests alone.

The lockpicking in this game is weird but I can simplify it a great deal for you. I actually love this games version the most if you dont count morrowinds chance to get caught mid pick.
If you just LISTEN instead of only looking when you pick the lock, they make 2 noises when you lift them. A single CLICK sound, and a double CliCLICK sound. The double click sound means the tumbler will stay at the top if you click the mouse. All the skill and perks really do is effect how fast the tumblers "move" (the window of time to click before you are too slow) and keep tumblers up if you fail on the next step.
With just very little practice you can pick any lock in this game based on your own skill alone, or abuse auto attempt and let your characters stats determine it. One of the first things I always do as a new player is hit up the arena at night to steal the 500 gold from the chest out front.

Yeah Oblivion is the best. And I put a couple of thousand hours into Morrowind too. (My computer was too old to support Oblivion when it first came out and I couldn't afford a new one then). Morrowind is a great game but Oblivion was greater.

The unintentional comedy of oblivion never gets old! Turning around just in time to see that wolf go flying back down the path sent me! 🤣🤣🤣

This was definitely my favorite gaming experience of all time. So fun to play, entertaining stories & quests, and the clunky NPCs just make it even more fun & hilarious

Yeah, the NPCs in Oblivion all seemed unique individuals and are so memorable as a result. And humor is an important part of all our lives; so should it be in Oblivion too. These two factors alone raise it above any other game I have ever played.

What a magical time playing this game. I remember it was super nice out and I had all the windows open blasting the gorgeous soundtrack with a cool breeze all around. It was probably nothing like that but man was it fun as shit

Came across this video and couldnt help but watch as the nostalgia kicked in... By far the best elder scrolls in my opinion but maybe i'm not being fair, i was young and it might have been my first open world rpg. I remember creating a lot of new characters to do the dark brotherhood quests over and over (much better than skyrim i think its fair to say), and also being terrified to go to kvatch as you did early in the game. So many amazing quests, great features such as the arena, graphics are old yes but you can't tell me it looks absolutely beautiful and immersive, and the DLCs are worth it. Oblivion will forever have a place in my heart.

It was an amazing experience back in 2006. It hasn't aged well, but still has its charms. Also the soundtrack is among my favorites of all time!

the best thing about this game is the pop in, you look outside and see all the nature and hills, walk 20 feet to see a giant building just appear Infront of your eyes

I just recently started playing again after 10 years. This is an underrated game that anyone can still play. Anyone thinking about playing should do it, no hesitation.

The shivering isles is like being able to travel to the storie lands of tolkien that you only hear the main characters whisper about

No forcing. Oblivion is beautiful, very relaxing. Old and clunky so what. Very relaxing game go play it. If you have to force yourself to play it you have issues. A non neurotic person enjoys Oblivion and I do more than Skyrim

I first played Oblivion when I was a little kid. I had no idea how to open the map and fast travel. Since English is my second language I also had no idea what I was supposed to do or what the quests were about. I spent dozens of hours in Oblivion just walking around the world and exploring while pretending to play different roles. That game is forever stuck in my mind.

Oblivion was my first real Bethesda game that I fell in love with. Was also the first open world game I played. Not sandbox. Open world. There's a difference. Holds a special place in my heart.
