Toyan has been doing this awhile and gets big $ for this stuff. Blows my mind but they r all build on nitro fuel r/c style theory. Id like to see(& have few times) and actual 1 off custom mini engine built to run on gasoline or diesel. That would be cool. Maybe i duno 5times size of this. Like soze of a briggs 1cyl 5hp engine but a v8/v10
They are nicely made but this particular engine has a major design flaw; only two crankshaft bearings. They are infamous for snapping crankshafts, some owners have gone through multiple cranks.
Knowing me, I’d forget a part near the beginning. Have to disassemble. Put the missing part in. Reassemble only to find I’ve lost something and now I just have a $1k paperweight.

I wish Toyan had more gasoline options. It seems almost every one of their kits runs on nitro, and I want one that runs on gas cause nitro is very expensive

This particular model is only for ornamental function, it's crank will break if used under load , and they are seemingly not interested in fixing the defect .
As a diesel glow plug type engine the power generated by the engine is usually less than impressive. Cool factor aside. Add one manual transmission with manual clutch to compensate for lack of power and added realism now we triple the cool factor.

Would you consider putting a quick note of the part names in the video as you put them on the engine for future builds? I know it’s quite a bit more work but it would be greatly appreciated for us non-mechanically Inclined individuals 👌🏾🙏🏾. Love the video!!!!

This super cool and something I know I would have a lot of fun building but $1000+ for a 14cc engine seems like an irresponsible purchase for me personally. I can see the manufacturers attention to detail, the beautiful packaging and quality which easily justifies that price. I just can’t see spending that much money on something like this. You can buy a cheap Chinese Honda Grom knockoff on Amazon for that price. The engine won’t be as good of quality but it does have enough power to pull a human. Great video!
It's probably a silly idea But would be awesome to see you to hook one of them up with a little alternator or what ever would be needed to use as a small generator?🙂 Be Interesting to see how much charge you could get of one!
2 concerns: The piston lube will wear out very shortly and I see no easy way to open it up and reapply. Same for the crank shaft bearing, that blob of lube cannot survive it long term and will eventually dry out
Your concerns are correct, but this engine was made as a fun project or display piece. It was never meant to drive anything like an RC car or boat so you won't actually run it a lot. The drive shaft has no output to a clutch or gearbox. You could perhaps modify it to run something but it wouldn't be a good idea since the parts are not continuously lubricated as it runs.
oh it seems i'm wrong. RC engines just doesn't seem to have oil lubrication like full sized engines. I guess you'll just have to take them apart once in a while to lube the parts
@@fab9207 even with oil in the fuel its still a 4 stroke that's only going to lube the upper engine, if it were a 2 stroke with fuel going through the crankcase it'd be different
It's the nitro fuel Proper nitro powered RC engines get a good 1000hp/l and top fuel dragsters running on 90% nitro can get 8-11k hp out of the 8.2l engines

I'm amazed how accurate this is to a real engine. I've seen some miniature engines that have to make big design changes due to them being such a small size.
I have an idea that I think would make this already awesome video just a little bit better…..label the pieces on the screen as you are putting them in/on. Not sure how much extra time that would take but I’d like to see the names of some of these pieces……at least some of the bigger/more main pieces. Love these videos though. Keep it up!

All the components seem to be very well engineered. A joy to watch this engine taking shape. Have you built one of these before? I would find the large number of parts quite a challenge to know where they all go.

Perhaps it's due to better lubricants today, but also so much specialist equipment has been introduced over the years that enables more precise engineering tolerances and machining techniques. It's a shame that we reach manufacturing perfection and then the electric car arrives! With a 200 mile range, gosh! I see them parked at the Tesco charging station with the driver sitting in the vehicle for half an hour in order to get home. And this is progress?
That looks and sounds amazing. I may have missed something there, but once it's assembled, how does it lubricate? I saw oil and grease being applied during the build, but nothing that indicates that it has a sump or oil pan. Am I being a tad thick? Otherwise, I know what I'm asking Santa (or my wife) for this Christmas!
I would wash every single component of that before starting. You always have aluminum dust on everything. Threaded holes, recessed areas with tight corners, ect. The grey grit at the bottom of the flushing cup, after flushing,, will open your eyes. You create/grate a bit more if o-rings are installed dry and it's a tight fit. Be very generous with the assembly lube,,no matter the instructions,, that just show drops of oil. CRC QD electrical cleaner and compressed air until dry and clean. The CRC wont attack rubber components,, but will soften certain open cell foams. Use a magnifying glass to be sure your clean. Very cool little 4 popper. Thanks!.

Likely because they knew who it was being sent to. Otherwise be prepared to have to file / sand / and be shorted a piston like myself.

I’m assuming it’s the same as any engine right? General maintenance. Or does nitro cause more carbon buildup?

It gets lubricated by the fuel/oil mixture.

I think this is a two stroke engine (2 valve per cylinder) , hence fuel oil mixture lubrication

I don't see how this can be a 4 stroke engine
I would wash every single component of that before starting. You always have aluminum dust on everything. Threaded holes, recessed areas with tight corners, ect. The grey grit at the bottom of the flushing cup, after flushing,, will open your eyes. You create/grate a bit more if o-rings are installed dry and it's a tight fit. Be very generous with the assembly lube,,no matter the instructions,, that just show drops of oil. CRC QD electrical cleaner and compressed air until dry and clean. The CRC wont attack rubber components,, but will soften certain open cell foams. Use a magnifying glass to be sure your clean. Very cool little 4 popper. Thanks!.

You didn’t have to do any timing when installing the timing belt? No Top dead center or nothing?
He did, the cam gear and the crankshaft have timing marks on them and he had them both pointing down that’s tdc

@@Jorgevasquez_12 yes he did on the one cam, but on the other cam there isn't a mark. And when he put the timing belt on the one cam without a mark moved.
@@blueeyeswhite132 it's an SOHC engine so the second cam gear without the timing mark is only cosmetic
You can see it's not connected to anything just an idler
