I was thinking a functional tiny diesel engine which would be sic, but just a model, cool in its own right, but nothing more than a heavy expensive ornament!
theres lots of engines with the same size that actually works, toyan, cison and lots of business that create working engines powered with gasoline or nitro
All that time, and it doesn't run. All that money, and it doesn't run. That extremely fancy packaging, and it doesn't run. So close, but so far. Good for the classrooms I guess. Neat build. Thanks.
The day they make a little engine that actually runs on diesel would be a dream come true. I'd buy the hell out of them. I wonder if they can make one that runs on diesel since the compression would have to be high....and the parts would have to be pretty strong.
There are model-diesel engines, but they run on a petroleum-ether-oil mix. Some can apparently run on pure petroleum/oil when warmed up. They also do use a carburetor, and therefore are actually HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) engines, not true diesels. Since they are pretty reliable once you got the hang of tuning them correctly, especially if you run them WOT all the time, they were really popular for model airplanes in the 1950s-1960s.
@@VintageTechFan Model diesel engines run on Kerosene/ether/oil mix, not petrol. Keep in mind, too, that all those methanol powered glow plug engines are also a form of diesel.
@@tedsmith6137 Confused the terms here, german word "petroleum" is more or less kerosene. And nope. Glow plug engines aren't diesels. It's a common misconception, but they do not fire by compression but rather by catalytic process on the glow element, which contains platinum/rhodium and sometimes other noble metals for this reason.
@@goose-the-gamer if you put an electric motor in them. There are also miniature engines the size of the one in this video and smaller that run, but they are not called models. A model engine is not a real engine.
@@migueldenboer5186 Alright, I am going to try and be nice here. Your statement tells me you know little about piston engines. First, there are big oval holes at the bottom of the cylinders. So, we would need sleeves to fix that. Next, there are no piston rings. Gotta fix that. No working fuel system or ignition system. The list goes on and on. I have been working with miniature airplane engine for 65yrs, glow, diesel and spark ignition, so I have had a little experience with the subject. PS. The oval holes in the cylinder's would work if this were a model of a 2strok Detroit diesel engine. But then you must have a supercharger to bring fresh air in and exhaust gases out. I skipped though and the moment I saw the radiator (where I skipped too) I knew it was fake. The filter, pump and injectors were all blank casts not to mention you can't run a common rail diesel without an ecu to control the injectors or run high pressure fuel through flimsy rubber tube. Might have been more believable if they used the old style injector pump and fake hard lines.
Gawd damn.... a pushrod common rail diesel without anything to control the injectors... truly an untapped masterpiece. I hate when these companies make this so wrong. Must have a glow plug delete too. Truly ahead of its time whilst also being behind
this is really a replica diesel engine that is exactly the original, this is great for practicing getting to know diesel-type car engines, it's amazing'👍
A miniature true diesel would be extremely hard to manufacture and exspensive! The biggest obstacle would be the injectors. Maybe the precision machines used to make Rolex parts could possibly do it.
I actually thought he was gonna start it up, too bad it's just a metal model. I saw the real miniature v8, that was awesome, except for the price. $1600
What you need is skill not a watchmakers lathe. A watchmakers lathe will be ill suited to it (I've got 22 lathes at the moment so can comment on the relative merits lol) Any small lathe will do, i.e. myford or maximat.

I seen the gas ones that actually run, they should build the small diesel to run also, I seen another great item is a dish that shines sun directly on a tank, the steam off the heat runs a generator and produces all the free electricity they need. They gotta come up with safe units so everyone can generate their own electricity
this kind of assembling engine videos is far more best asmr than anything

Gotta love it when someone puts a engine together with no gaskets or torque wrench....
Or piston rings
Gotta love it when people can't tell the difference between an actual engine and a toy model........
No crankshaft bearings either. Why bother?
Who needs a torque wrench? First comes fixed then comes broke! LOL
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing your video.
Watching the assembly was quite calming. The finished product is bitchin'!

That was a waste of 20min. A classic example of click bait. That thing couldn't run on its own if the owner's life depended on it.
Did you need 20 min to understand that?
