So many of your videos are like the best of days anyone could wish for on the water. .Your all smiles from ear to ear. Then watching you clean, cook and then feast out with all your friends and family is so rewarding. You have an amazing life.
I keep watching your viseos about your trifectia trip with Brian Norris so enjoyable. I will be there with my two sons May 24th and25th may with Capt norris on Fin fetish. This has been on my bucket list for some time and now it will happen.
Love showing your videos to my kids. My daughter loves when "Brookie" is with you guys and my son loves watching the guys have fun. Thanks for making videos that I am able to show my kids and not full of cursing and such. Appreciate you guys. Kyle
Oh man I need a spawn bite up like this in NorCal BAD this summer! Last year they barely showed up but I was able to pull a 35# and 32# halibut off a tiny patch of squid. Need a repeat of 2015!
Vic could have a world class restaurant if he wanted. His dishes are always classy and not your average meals. Always look amazing though. He does way more with fish than your average fisherman.
For many years I thought all flatfish were hatched with 2 eyes on one side but they are born like any other fish and one eye migrates to join the other on one side. Proper jealous of you guys because getting a halibut is one on my bucket list 😉. Great show always enjoy learning new techniques.
Absolutely no doubt in my mind that fish, if weighted when caught, would have been close to 45 lbs! It's very surprising how much fluid comes out of a fish when put on ice! Only a couple hours can make them lose a lot of weight, let alone overnight! Fantastic catch!
@8:50 the crazy thing about halibuts is they have the two eyes on the top side of the body, but when they are young the eyes are on each side of the body and as they grow the eyes move to one side. The crazy things we learn without being a marine biologist 🧬 .... Im going to miss fishing the California coast when me and my family get to move out of socal and head north to Montana .....
Got a 32# (made whopper of the week in the green liar) some 15 years ago off of SBI but that last one was a beaut! And my but was the only one that day great trip!
loved this. i grew up going to the channel islands as a kid and teen. havent been back in years so this was so good to see. then watching you guys enjoying cooking and eating together. amazing. loved to see adam rocking the Haggard Pirate shirt and got a little kick out of the other guy's fitness 19 one haha
I tend to fish a lot of the coast since I live within the LA county, but man boat fishing seems so fun, def gonna check out fluent fishing, chill fisherman crew.
Great all around video. Have you ever tried laying that Cali-halibut fillet on a block of ice? A similar fish was caught in the 90's, on my boat near Dana, we saw rather long completely clear \white in color, worms work there way up out of the meat! My buddy wouldn't eat any after that. I then found out, worms are in plenty of what you eat! I enjoy your videos, maybe underwater shots with drone.🐾 carry on.
Once caught a 45 over off the backside of carpenteria cliffs back in the 80s on 15 lb test. Still got the pictures. Best eating California fish besides calico bass. Always loved channel islands fishing and big sur coast. Glad to see it on the phone today. Rare to get big ones like this because of All the pressure today. Alaska is the spot for big halibut. Caught Afew barn doors up in Washington before back when.
He named his daughter Halibut? I've caught a few over 100# but naming your child Halbiut wow.. She definitely won't get made fun of in school. Nice one dad
I couldn’t tell if her name was Halie. I know he said after halibut. But Hali wouldn’t be terrible. No one would know in that case unless they watched the video. Halibut is aggressive
Socal native here. Love seeing you fish california waters! Maybe sometime head up to the bay area (norcal) and fish for some big lingcod! Would love to see a collab with Fishermans Life up there!
Do not eat bottom fish sushi, it has worms! I know people who have parasites in their liver, and there’s no way to get rid of them. Cook the stuff and be safe.

I caught a flounder that was over half brown on what should’ve been the white side. Looked exactly like the top.
That was a 40! Good work Adam!! @fluentfishing

Pretty sure he is a halibut surgeon
Do not eat bottom fish sushi, it has worms! I know people who have parasites in their liver, and there’s no way to get rid of them. Cook the stuff and be safe.
Nice one. I need to due an Alaskan fish cruise/trip soon. Can't beat the Cali weather though at least that time of year.
Best weather in the county
I’ve been away for a month or so and wow, Vik, you’re skinny-minnie! Dang boy….wish I could do that. Great video as always.

What kind of jig did you use on the big big halibut
Why they only getting this sice in california? I dont knew that. In norway or canada they grow much over 200 pounds or am i wrong?
Different species of halibut we have here in California!
