    Louie was one of a kind, and I enjoyed being able to capture that when I could. Thanks for the laughs, the knowledge, and the Bob Evan’s breakfasts! Rest in power! 🙏

    I picture Lou's brain is constantly, and randomly, choosing between different modes of talking. It happens without any internal rhythm, and any choice can be sprung at any time.
    - Anecdote about one of his athletes.
    - Quote from an athlete, or coach, or book, or random drunk he met.
    - Reprimanding and teasing with a wry smile, while coaching.
    - One sentence of stellar direction and coaching, followed by a minute of filler talk (The episodic structure of anime was inspired by this).
    - Filling the space with nonsense until the brain picks another option.
    Every once in a while a golden nugget that explains the nature of strength sports gets added to one of the aforementioned choices. But it's almost always surrounded by white noise.
    Love this video. It shows Lou's coaching style, and should inform everybody watching if they'd like it or not.

      Yep 100%, people posted it when it first came out and were bashing hard. It's mainly those who have been STUCK in the same sport and ONLY know the same port. They don't want to grow, just evolve and do the same shit lol......it just seems crazy at times, especially with Louie's list of accomplishments

    says weightlifters don't train max effort...immediately describes a weightlifter training max effort

    • @jeffsmith9860
      @jeffsmith9860 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      -Wes RichardsonYou weren't paying attention to Louie, stupid. Louie said weightlifters do "heavy efforts" at about 70 to 80% of what a particular person is capable of for a single rep. A "max effort" is going 90% or higher.Dipshit

    Louie trained people for free and made them who they are today. And those people wont ever be anything like louie . The samrtest things they say are louies qoutes.but they sure love to say ,"fuck louie simmons". This guy worked a crane all day and lifted weights all night. Lifting heavy shit was his life.

  • @mvagusta03
    @mvagusta03 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also I'm not gonna say it's not true or he is wrong, but I had the same theory about adding to my pull and squat. I added a bunch to my deadlift and squat and my snatch didn't go up any. It's such a dynamic movement, and the deadlift and squat are so almost "static" that it doesn't transfer that well. Again, I'm not saying anything, these are just my findings, who knows maybe I was doing it all wrong....

    • @irabaanmajumdar885
      @irabaanmajumdar885 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can increase your overall/relevant strength and still not be able to use 100% of that increase in strength due to a technical issue in your lift. Could be a limiting factor.

    • @mvagusta03
      @mvagusta03 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Irabaan Majumdar
      What I should be doing instead of deadlifts, is an explosive speed deadlift with a shrug at the top of the pull, that will transfer better than just a slow heavy deadlift.

    • @irabaanmajumdar885
      @irabaanmajumdar885 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr.
      I don't disagree. There comes a point with Louie's methods and conjugate in general where you just aren't achieving enough specificity, you would most likely be better off doing exactly what you said - just being overall more specific in regards to your programming. Just throwing it out there that it could be a technical issue that is the limiting factor in the scenario you mentioned.

    • @EliasSmeeus
      @EliasSmeeus 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The conjugate system is both Max Effort and Dynamic Effort days. There's a time for strength work and technique work. Deadlifts will help your clean more than your snatch. California Strength is a good example of using a style of conjugate training. They'll do heavy days of block pulls, OHP, deficits, then they'll do high volume days(speed work) of the same movements. These are all variants to get stronger at your weakest points.

    • @mvagusta03
      @mvagusta03 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Elias Armendariz
      I follow barbell WOD for my training, designed by Cal Strength :) I do all the same movements, just not nearly as good as some of those boys. So many talented lifters have walked through the doors of cal strength.

    Louie Simmons when you talk weightlifting numbers and explosive speed, I wish you could train my son who does boxing. You can make him faster with punching power. I know you can do that, I watch all your videos. We live in Poughkeepsie, New York. My son weight for boxing between 123-126.
