I LOVE Louie's face after he says perfect lol Like...so innovations and simple, you fucks wish you thought of it or all us wish we did. He truly loves what he does.
Is max effort deadlifting a part of Crossfit? I personally love max effort deads and most of what I see in Crossfit is body weight or Olympic (I also love those) lifts.
Ive used this for the past two weeks now....when arching for partial rep I seem to be pulling the bar directly into my shins rather than up (i know this will happen to some degree) So my question is, should there be a certain height or shin angle? Im 6'3 and generally pull conventional. Thanks.
Charles Thorpe so in that since, it would be like you were rowing a boat, but the oars were knocking into your knees before you fully extended... So push against the floor with the feet.
Charles Thorpe use the same height where your hips would be when pulling without the chair. It's only there to stop your hips from dropping, so put the chair right below the final position your hips are at at the very beginning of the pull, when you're pulling the slack out the bar. That's what I do at least
When you are doing the partial deadlift, you don't go all the way to the knees, there shouldn't be a problem there. Sitting far enough back in the chair should help too for both full and partial deadlifts.
Abbie (in the video) was one of my instructors at my CrossFit certification, very cool and knowledgeable girl! This is great technique for your dead lift form to improve perfect mechanics.
He is the man, but I dare to venture that he might be getting old. Every exercise he finds a way to sit down half way into the exercise. Joking. Also, I'm not insulting Louis for what he is doing, but are Crossfiters actually going to use any of this stuff? If so great.
Billy Brothers It's a good movement, I use it. My concern was safety. Folding chairs are flimsy things. People imitate the moves they see on YT, sometimes beginners who don't particularly know what they are doing.
Severe risk of collapsing? I'm sure if the girl weighs say 60kg and the barbell is roughly the same then it's fine 😐😂 use a spare bench or something. If you're so worried then maybe you shouldn't lift at all
Fine for sumo but so many people start with their hips way too low on conventional already, so I cant agree with this. Also holy fuck all the people not knowing who he is is fuckimg embassasing lol
That's fine if they know how to pull with their hips, which this teaches in good form. The problem with raised hips in conventional is that many people do not employ proper form and higher hips often means they will break the bar off the floor using too much lower back.
@Maxxx Modelz They're not breaking the bar off the floor with their back, they're rounding their back to get their hips closer to the bar at the beginning of the lift. Correlation =/= causation. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
@@juliawilliams1355 Well clearly in this exercise off the chair, the back is maintained in a straight and slightly arched position, chest up, throughout the range of motion even in the conventional example. If it's coached correctly and rounding is addressed by the trainer, then it should not be a problem. Her form was excellent in both the sumo and conventional examples in the video.
@Maxxx Modelz most likely it is inefficient and wasting energy because your hips will be too low. This is great if you're in a suit and need to sit back into it to generate more force, not good for raw
Great olympic weigtlifters perform variations of the powerlifts and use their methods. And using the olympics for examples of great sports is dumb, look now there is no wrestling in the olympics...

Every time this man speaks i learn something new.
Read any of his books, every page contains golden nuggets of knowledge

strong chair
Louie is the man..!!
MIercoles estos videso llegaron tarde a mi vida...nunca es tarde. Gracias Louie Simmons.
Whats the difference of the bar under the legs vs outside?
Omg, this is brilliant. Wish I had stumbled upon this before that first time cluelessly dling with a friend that knew jack shit about form.
great tip i am going to use this with some of my clients
Very cool. Never seen this technique before.
This man is a genius!

1:19 PERFECT TECHNIQUE
I tried this and the bar kept going into my knees and it was very painful days after. Did I do this wrong?
What WRs??

+Gottfried Osterbach - Its all relative- constantly varied (disciplines)
R.I.P to the smartest power lifter ever
Damn right. RIP Louie. I'll miss his vids and motivation.
Is this a max effort lift or "special exercise?"
In case anyone cares, Louie's recently said in a podcast that it can be used for either.
Thanks for this. Was wondering the same thing.
although he also said that it is mainly for teaching proper technique, in that same podcast
Why?
Rest In Power Louie
This is great but I already weigh 300+ and don't really want to put another 400 plus pounds the chair.
Aaron Langley bench??
Isn't that your problem?
Precisely why nobody will ever remember your name.
Why a chair? Isn't a folding chair in severe risk of collapsing? Why not at least a bench?
Dude don't worry about if it's a chair or a bench or a girls face, just sit on something with a relative same height as presented in the video
Billy Brothers

Talk about noticing a meaningless detail.
Billy Brothers seriously

"...train your oblique's heavily!..." Any vid's focused on oblique exercises?
why u so stupid
Awesome! Gotta try this.
1:00 "Hip..Ab...ad..groin muscles" lol
weak hip and tight groin muscles
Crossfit women are sooooo awesome!
no - thank YOU Louie!!
Do weighted side bends, Simmons talks about those on youtube.
Mr.Simmons is a freakin boss.
@TheVorminator - its to perfect your technique mate, not everyone can walk in a gym with perfect form. This seated deadlift will help with that.
Thanks for the correction.
BEAST!
Louie is a wise man.
Well said Louie!
I love her
you do realize that stomach of his is pretty much all muscle, he probably lifts 3 times as heavy as you can.
No, he doesn't believe in insulin and gh. It's strong, but tubby too.
Wrong, oldest guy to Squat 900 ;)
Which one is Louie? The guy standing and talking or the guy sitting in the chair?
gold!

I think you need to re-read his comment mate...
06livefast. I hope you're kidding. Pretty sure he squatted over 900 at over 50 yrs old
Nice, she looks really strong!
The truth
Strong woman
ARCH ARCH ARCH ARCH ARRRRCCCCHHHHH
Sounds like a sea lion
DO YOU EVEN LIFT, BRO?!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Oldest guy to squat 600lbs I believe.
Mingo Rolince 920 lbs
are they dwarfs?...

Prove it
He comps over 700 in the squat hahahahaha
Obvious troll is obvious.
I strongly suggest people start light on the deadlift. I started at 500 lbs doing high volume, 12-20 reps, as an example.
WTF
That girl is on steroids.
.....cool.
Every man with a sub 1000 total looking at a girl who lifts “she’s on roids” lol even if she is who cares? Zero relevance to this video
If she trains at westside regularly...maybe
All of them are on roids, your point?
Seriously, w/t/f is the point of this exercise? Why don't you just DO DEADLIFTS?
If you're confused about it then you need to learn more about the programming they use
Also just realized this was from 4 years ago, so hardly matters anyways lol
There's always 1 moron in the crowd.........right.
correction: he does lift and his diet is steroids!
Clown
Now he has find box for deadlifts also
How stupid n useless
