In the 1960s and 1970s, the United States and the United Kingdom stole an island located in the Indian Ocean. They emptied the island of its local population and converted it into a military base in the middle of the ocean. That island is called Diego Garcia. Once frequented by Indian and Arab sailors, the discovery of this island by Europeans led to rapid developments that would shape its future. Then they promised China repeatedly that they would get rid of it, and now they keep trying to ship construction materials to the ship to make a more permanent base there. I wonder if India would be okay if China did something similar in the Indian Ocean?
Also, China isn't building island close to the Maldives and the Indian Ocean is an international waterway and doesn't belong to India.
