what happens to the consciousness of a person, when and if he loses complete lack of control of his body...He loses Physical requirements like hunger or thirst, etc and is not able to express it as he has lost his speech, He has lost his memory, etc.etc...
But He is ABLE to see, but he is totally expression-less, and he is not able recollect his relationships as well??
PN: These have happened to him over a period of time due to his ageing..he is 82 years old.

  • @bennguyen1313
    @bennguyen1313 ปีที่แล้ว

Regarding how experience is consciousness + objects of consciousness (physical, mind, etc).. what role is experiencing the world as-is and being fully present in your surroundings versus intensely focused on something at the expense everything around?
Would also liked to have heard specifics on things like ghosts, aliens, time, karma, free-will, premonitions etc. For example, in terms of reincarnation, there's some great identical twin studies that were separated at birth, and then later reunited, that show incredible similarities in occupation, personality, mannerisms, etc.. Similarly, the personalities of the parents, are very often seen in the children... All this seems to suggest that body/genetics you are born in seems to be (mostly?) responsible for your intelligence/temperament and perhaps ultimately karma. Ed Yong has a great Ted Talk on how parasites, bugs in the gut, and hormonal /brain chemistry imbalances can all be reflected in the personality.. so if much of who you are is made up by the physical, who is the real you in the after-life when the physical body is no longer?
What is the real you that survives survives between births and/or lives in the astral plane (subtle vs causal body)?
And how does the paranormal fit into the picture? For example, on the Jim Harold Campfire podcast (ex. 559) there's often stories of people seeing themselves, and later experiencing it from the other point of view. In other cases, people interact with someone only later to find out that the person could not physically have been there. Is that a time-glitch? Or often they act like tricksters playing pranks, but other times they seem malevolent.
Also, I've often heard that when you die you can linger in the realm that is very similar to earth... however there is a giant light that one can go towards at any time. If the physical realm is the only place to learn the lessons, how do astral-bodies advance to higher dimensions? What happens once you get to the light? do you reincarnate? Who/What determines your de/evolution path and what you reincarnate to.. animal, alien, plant?
Is there a point that you stop having a unique dis-associative personal experience? For example, in Sadhguru's Death book, he suggests that if you die of old age, you don't have to come back?! What age will you appear as in the astral-world? There's a few people that describe the after-life in exquisite detail.. Tom Campbell, Luis Minero, Matías De Stefano, Emanuel Swedenborg , Jurgen Ziewe, Pulkit Mathur/Spiritual-Bee.. and even a Brazilian movie (Astral-City) that seem to suggest the realm is full of beings that have work and have jobs, etc!

All these explanations are still based in logic. But the true nature of the reality is likely something else. I've had a very unique experience. In 2017 I woke up in the operation theater and saw my own body laying on the bed being operated by the surgeons. I remember everything they've said and done while I was asleep. If consciousness is can only "work" with a functioning brain, how could that have happened to me? My brain was shut down by the anesthetics.

I have long studied Advaita Vedanta and would like to challenge the venerable swamiji on his statements concerning an "epistemology of the Subject." How does he hope to make the subject of all experience, the Self/atman, into an object so as to enable an epistemology. The Upanisads are clear on this matter, for instance,
"Now therefore the description (of Brahman): 'Not this, not this (neti neti).' Because there is no other and more appropriate description than this 'Not this.' (Brhadaranyaka Upanisad 2.3.6)
"This self is That which has been described as 'Not this, not this.' It is imperceptible. for It is never perceived; undecaying, for It never decays; unattached, for It is never attached; unfettered-It never·feels pain, and never suffers injury ... (Brhadaranyaka Upanishad 3.9.26)
    "
"Through what should one know That owing to which all this is known - through what, O Maitreyi, shoul one know the Knower? (Brhadaranyaka Upanishad. II.4.14).”

It feels like something to be me, most certainly it doesn't feel like anything to be a toy or a leaf of grass.
But does it feel like something to be my nails, my teeth, my hair... or even my hands, my legs, my eyes?
The feeling of me is for sure there, but if it should be attributed to my body or not I dont know.
My body feels similar to a toy or grass, with the difference of the presence of sensation.
While the feeling of "me" feels the sensation, I dont know if it is the sensation really!

According to temporary physics the outside reality can be divided in both objective and subjective aspects. For two observers which are not stationary towards each other the same quantum of energy can take on different forms. What is particle momentum to one could be photons to the other. What is a photon to one could be particles to the other.
So if I hand you, say, a cat, the fact that you also recieve something which is a cat is not to be taken for granted, but only established by the special case that our relative velocity is near zero. The fact that it is a cat to me depends on me and the fact that it is a cat to you depends on you. It could be dead, that is, a bunch of X-Rays for me and alive for you. Or whatbis dead light to one could be a living being to another. You see

Objects are not content in the mind. It is the mind itself that assumes or becomes rose 🌹 or any other object.
All this seemingly external objects are our mind itself assuming the form of objects.
That is, the information we take in through the senses stimulate the the mind and the mind transforms itself as these objects.
In brief, we see our mind as objects and not the objects themselves.

Hi Andres. Thanks for this discussion. I have been listening to Swamiji for past few years.
    My only problem is,,
    1. He and his Advaita Philosophy FAIL when we ask them on how the first shoots of Consciousness happened on earth, after the Big Bang. Did consciousness not emanate out of matter just after the Big Bang ... ?? How Advaita Vedanta explains this .... ?? Sometimes Swamiji says, Consciousness always existed and Only after the Bio systems on earth became capable enough, they started reflecting Consciousness. This actually contradicts the very Premise of Advaita ( Non - Dual existence ). Because, they start talking of 2 things - Consciousness & matter. Consciousness reflecting on matter once the matter became Powerful ! This means, there are 2 systems running :) The matter evolving on its own and the Consciousness !! What is firing this evolution of matter to reflect consciousness ?? Why such an evolution of matter is happening ? Why Consciousness is so inert and NOT participating in this evolution of matter ??
    2. Thus I think Awareness is a product of something ingrained in matter and NOT something that exists disjoint from matter.
    3. I would be very glad if you can question Swamiji on these lines in your next episodes.
    4. There is another Swami of the same RamaKrishna order by name Swami Satyamayanada, associated with the Vedanta society of seattle. In my understanding, he seem to explain this " Big Bang - evolution and Consciousness " in a Non- Advaitic way . It's quite more agreeable !

All of this is spoken by not the consciousness, but by the being, the person “Swami”. How does the Swami know that there is a consciousness? Assuming that there is a consciousness, we can then say that that which knows is consciousness. But, to assume it is not a good way to establish something. What I know for sure is that the brain captures and processes information. “Mind”, like wetness of water or colors of a soap film, is how we experience the brain. It is emergent. Just like the hole in, say, a flute is no different, than the unbounded openness of the sky, and the properties of the flute are the result of what defines that hole, similarly the “mind” is fully emergent from the brain.

Buddha rebelled against vedanta in his entire life, people like Sarvapriyananda and his teacher Vevekananda and Shankharacarya were always against Buddha's teaching. He talks about Tibetian Buddhist which is far from Buddha's early teaching. Theravada Buddhist has the record of Authentic Early Buddhist Text. People like you (sarvapriyananda) have destroyed the Gem of Buddha's teaching from its birthplace India.
