    ABOUT VEDANTA
    Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions. ABOUT US Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

      But samadhi state (cosmic experience ) does not mean you are not already that in the wake state (limited experience). TAT TVAM ASI. Consciousness is not just limited to "mind". What is consciousness? Consciousness is an attribute of immanent (Athma), omnipresent and transcendent (Brahman) just like heat is an attribute of fire and the sun. Conscious field pervades both animate and inanimate like a silk thread which passes through different pearls in a necklace. Conscious field is the reason why duality cycles of nature happen and it is also the reason why there is consciousness within the psycho/physical body. But in Abrahamic religions there is no connection between consciousness and soul.

      I agree. I see everything and its function, an awareness of awareness in everything, this saguna Brahman and at the Pinnacle of sight I come to the nirguna Brahman which is cause only.

    Swami ji As mentioned in Bhagvatam by Brahma about father and daughter revati who when reached other planets from earth had spend many million years the case of time travel.
    Does it happens in consciousness when sushumna nerve opens up and reach sehastrar chakra.
    Is it happening in real or on mental psychological plane.

    • @indianmilitary
      @indianmilitary 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is an allegorical story in Mahabharatha which explains space time dilation (copied later by Einstein) . eg King Kakudmi visiting Brahmalokha with his daughter Revathi and staying their for just 20 min. When he returned he could not find any of his family and relatives, the sons and grandsons-and there was NO record of the family tree. An example of Maya of time.
      Point is Consciousness is not just limited to "mind".
      Unfortunately some Advaitha followers wrongly interpret Maya as the "illusion" through which Brahman falsely appears as the universe. Maya is just another name for Shakhti which is the 'creative" shakhti of Brahman. It is absolutely real, so is our material realm.
      In the same way Mithya also does not mean false. Mithya means temporary existence. eg TASKS in your office may be temporary but you have to fnish them. The subject/object split perception in the wake state may be temporary but it does not mean false.

    Pranam Swamiji,
    Will you please elaborate on the concept of ‘Choiceless awareness’ as often spoken about by Shri JK Krishnamurti in his talks.
    Is there a way to be in ’Choiceless awareness’ in our daily lives? 🙏🏽

    • @indianmilitary
      @indianmilitary 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure. Keep your manas calm 24/7. The more you keep it, the more you can experience the cosmos in the form of "PASHYANTHI - thought-image" and MADHYAMA - thought sound in so called "choiceless awareness" state. But having said that it is not the only pathway to remove karma (the primary reason for having both self knowledge and experience or oneness with the cosmos). There is Karma yoga (inaction in action) which is perfectly in sync with impassive and non doer state of the conscious self. For beginners and those who are leading a wordly life both knowledge of the self and karma yoga are very important.

    • @sanjeevathalye8676
      @sanjeevathalye8676 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What ji Krishnamurti calls "choiceless awareness" is the exact definition of Sakshi (साक्षि ) in Advaita Vedant. There the Sakshi is defined as "udaasinatve sati Boddhaa". ( उदासिनत्वे सति बोध्दा )This means that the Sakshi is the knower or only awareness but is neutral just like a witness dissociated from the surroundings.This is choicelessness of the awareness.Sakshi doesn't choose what it perceives as favourable अनुकूल or unfavourable प्रतिकूल and remains unperturbed उदासिन by the events around it.

  • @rognex

    We need to get the esoteric meaning behind exoteric stories. Read Vedanta then you will be able to understand all scriptures of all religions. TRUTH is never shared directly they are hidden in metaphorical stories.

  • @hariniswaminathan6494
    @hariniswaminathan6494 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Swamiji - then the corollary is also correct? The chidabhasa will be there as long as Body/mind is there and so it is impossible to be in that state of Real consciousness continually while in the body? Even for realized - the body is there as long as it does not drop off and hence even they will have that chidabhasa - of course they will move into the Real state also much more easily as they have experienced? Some more than others perhaps?

    • @indianmilitary
      @indianmilitary 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One is not affected by "Chidabhasa" in Turiya when he or she transcends both 5 senses and individual Ahamkara (which limits sense of "I" to just individual manas and body). Avatars are in this state 24/7. it is the reason why they are called Jivan Mukth. Adi-Shankara was also a Jiven Mukth. They can read past/present/futture of everything in the cosmos in the form of Pashyanthi (thought image) and MADHYAMA (thought sound)
      But this is only for advanced practitioners. For beginners and those who are leading a worldly life, knowledge of self is very important to practice Karma yoga. The only primary purpose of reaching Samadhi is for the removal of past karma or Chitta Shuddhi. But one should also make sure that they don't create new karma by following Karma yoga (inaction in action) which is pefectly in sync with impassive and non doer state of the conscious and omnipresent self.

    But then if the reflected consciousness is impermanent and conditioned then we must posit a consciousness that shares the quality of Primordial Consciousness but without its essential qualities of being both Timeless and Unconditioned, this in turn implies that it must be fundamentally separate otherwise the Timeless and Unconditioned would not be timeless and unconditioned. So we are back to dualism of man as compound and conditioned creature, distinct from the Divine although not truly separate. This of course is the Western Theistic model, but is also found in some Hindu schools as well.

Imagine in a classroom of 50 students a thief comes and steals a book. Do you think all the students will interpret the phenomenon in the same way? Or there will be multiple versions of the same truth? There you have it : The evidence depends on subjective interpretation.
