The day my one daughter was killed in an auto accident, my other daughter found out she was pregnant. This song brings those tears . Music is good for the soul even if it hurts . Thank you for expanding your music experience.
I'm so sorry about your daughter. You are right, music is not just good for the soul but healing.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam (may her soul be at God's right hand).
Feel for you from afar
God bless. 😢
@donaldromesburg1902 My heart goes out to you. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. No parent should ever have to bury their child. I also hope that your other daughter has an uneventful pregnancy and delivers a healthy grandchild to your family.
You are very correct about music being good for the soul. I have a lot of trauma from my own youth, and music has always been a companion I could rely on whenever times would get rough. Music can convey things that words cannot. Music can touch someone in places that nothing else can (emotionally and spiritually). Music can help free you from demons that you weren't even aware were riding your shoulders.
Music has always been a major part of my life, and it shall continue to be until (and likely beyond) the day I become "One" with the universe.
oh man! that is harsh!
The band was formed in York Pennsylvania.
They wrote the song to honor a friend of theirs who died as a result of a car accident.
Her organs were donated saving several lives, hence the circle of life.
"Shit Town"
This album "Throwing Copper" is perfect. Not a bad song on it. It is one of the best albums of the last few decades imo.
Live’s album “Throwing Copper” is tremendous. Top 3 in the 90’s IMO.
Their previous album, Mental Jewelry, isn't too shabby either.
Secret Samadhi was good too, but didn't get the air play Throwing Copper did.
Going to see them tomorrow night celebrating the 30th anniversary of this MASTERPIECE of an album, along with STP celebrating 30 years of purple ‼️‼️
I freaking love this song. So powerful. I alone is a great song too. Peace out guys ✌️ ☮️
One of my favorite all time bands that is criminally underrated commercially imo. They don't have a single song that doesn't pull emotion out of the listener.
You are correct, this song is about the circle of life.
Most people get confused by thinking it is about one mother dying during childbirth.
It is actually about two different mothers, one is giving birth in one room, while in the next room another is dying at that same exact moment.
The confusion of life is transferred from the dying mother to the baby at that exact moment.
Hence the dying mother's "intentions fall to the floor" and the baby's confusion about life starts "before the doctor can even close the door."
Some people believe in the well of the souls where one has to die in order for new life to come from the well. I tease my sister about it. She was born, the same day my favorite baseball player died tragically. Not a believer, but I tease her that she is his soul.
The video was originally intended to be shot in a hospital. The video would have been easier to understand if it was.
The band dedicated the song to a high-school friend, Barbara Lewis, who was killed by a drunk driver in 1993.
A criminally underrated 90s band.
Saw them with Bush and Our Lady Peace a bit ago.. I feel both Live and Our Lady Peace are super underrated.
@@curtiswilson3569Love, love, love, Our Lady Peace.
The entire Live Throwing Copper album is fantastic. Your next reaction to Live should be I Alone.
"Thumbs-upping" before I even watch. There is no way you aren't going to love this.
Afterwards - love it.
Remember when you heard this song 1,000,000 times? I certainly do lol
MTV had that shit down like the titty formula in Friday the 13th: no more than 10 minutes without playing this song
May I suggest Live song I alone!
Yes. I was just saying “I Alone”. So good!
This album was one of my favorites from the 90s. Wore it out. This was their biggest hit, but they have some other harder ones to try like I Alone, All Over You, Iris.
And "Selling the Drama"
These guys are the perfect example of the sound of the 90s. Their song "Overcome" was released a week after 9/11, and it touched right to the heart of what a many were feeling during that time. Other great ones are "I Alone" and "Run To The Water". Fantastic band.
As will no doubt be suggested throughout the comments their track 'I Alone' is an absolute banger. I have seen Live! live (ho-ho!) three times up till now - fantastically tight musicians. Their back catalogue is a 'must put on the to-do list' thing.
Love & Kisses from the UK.
This song is on the album "Throwing Copper". The album is a masterpiece. Every song on it is good. It's got about 5 songs that are pure fire. Every song on the album was played on the radio with the exception of "Shit Town". Don't let the title fool you. It's actually a good song as well. In my opinion, it's the best album made in the post grunge era. You should check out Fuel. They were another great post grunge band.
I love their song “When dolphins cry”
Also, in Egyptian mythology, cats were associated with the spirit world. It's long been said that cats can see spirits of the dead. So I felt like in this video, the cats were there with the newly dead turned spirit of the woman.
You're talking their connections to Egyptian lore, and I'm in here talking about their song that was used in The Mummy Returns soundtrack. Heh heh
Wonderful Song
Underrated Band
Saw them in Concert Touring on the Album this is on. Very Emotional Song ad the Crowd basically Sang the second half of the Song. The Band stopped playing and only the lead singer & the Crowd finished out the Song. Emotional Moment
Goose Bumps Galore
Lost my mother awhile back, this song hits hard.
This song is so powerful and hauntingly beautiful... you'll never hear this song without seeing the video in your head
My sister Karen was murdered by her husband recently...😢😢😢 Please react to Bright Eyes by Art Garfunkel.... My sister loved that song!!❤❤ RIP Karen...❤❤❤
I'm so sorry.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam (may her soul be at God's right hand).
I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. Anyone who likes art Garfunkel must have a gentle soul. ❤️💔❤️💔🙏
All I can think about is when this song was played on the Rick and Brad KATT 100.5 show as we were riding in a bus to the Murrah bombing site in downtown OKC. I once worked in that building. I’ll never forget the day my Soldiers were asked to comb through the debris of the daycare. Nothing but silent tears and complete reverence. Nearly 20 years later and the pain is still there.
Thirty years since I first I heard this song and it hits just as hard as the first time. Honestly one of the greatest storytellers in rock/pop history
I love this entire album (throwing copper), but I really like "the dam at Otter Creek" and "I alone".
The lead singer wrote this song as a teenager. Incredible.
one of those songs that once you've heard it you are never the same.
They're a good band, and the vocals are terrific. This song is a little unique for them in that it has a real life topic. Many of their song have a spiritual or religious bent, but they seemed to be into all kinds of new-age spirituality.
LIVE- “Selling The Drama”, would be a great next reaction.
This band was discovered by Michael Stipe of REM fame , both bands were local to each other in or around Athens Georgia
Live is from York, PA.
The album that this song is on is a masterpiece and yet you rarely hear discussion about it anywhere. 30 years the album and song holds up.
Other songs on this album to checkout: I Alone, Selling the Drama. (Really the whole album)
Other songs: Dolphins Cry, Turn My Head, Pain Lives on the Riverside, Beauty of Gray, Overcome, Forever May Not Be Long Enough, Heaven
A lot of bands sounded similar to this in that era. But the lyrics are unique. Once the placenta falls to the floor, you're in uncharted territory, as far a rock music goes.
Gotta do their song “Lakini’s Juice”. It’s really good too.
Or “I Alone”
I 2nd Lakini's Juice. It's an underrated banger that most people don't cover.
Great song; heck the whole album is realy good.
This song came out when my babies were little. Still gives me chills when I hear it.
Extremely powerful vocals. So much emotion. Please do more from this often overlooked band. So many other great songs, Ghost, Turn My Head, Lakini's Juice, Dolphin's Cry, I Alone, All Over You.
BEAUTIFUL SONG! ♥️
Live were massive here in New Zealand had many good times partying to their .music,Top Teir🇳🇿🤘🍻
So many great songs like this one Rub to the Water , The Dolphins Cry , Face and Ghost and They Stood Up For Love
Life, brings Life….Despite how uncomfortable it might be.
You guys are good and never fail to impress me with your first time attempts at interpreting.
i will put this song on repeat and listen to it for hours and if i’m in the car when it comes the radio i will blast the volume
Great album. My 1st 3 CDs I bought when I got my first player were Live's Thowing Copper, Crash Test Dummies' God Shuffled His Feet and Stan Kenton's Channel One Suite (I liked old jazz even in HS). All were good purchases.
the time signature on these drums are delicious
One of my favorite songs
Great band.Dolphins Cry was another great song. All over MTV and tv in general.
A great song top to bottom, never gets old!
Seeing them for the first time this summer.
One of my favourite songs of all time. It’s so powerful.
This song kills me. "The angel closes her eyes" makes me cry every time. I held my mother's hand as she passed and I still remember the last time she looked at me. I have a love/hate relationship with this song.
I love this song. I had my youngest in a very hard, rushed labor. Thank god my daughter was perfect, but I was bleeding to death. Blood just running out. Sorry for being so graphic! But this song always meant something to me, I could've been that mother.
Great Band especially LIVE check out "The Dam at Otter Creek" sometime
One of favorites along with Pillar of Davidson. Not that there is a bad song on that album.
Thanks for reacting to LIVE. Wish more would. Some have suggested I Alone which I agree with but I would also recommend Pain Lies on the Riverside
ABSOLUTE BANGER! 🔥
Foo Fighters - Come Alive. 🤘🏾
"Forever May Not Be Long Enough" by them, was used as the closing song on The Mummy Returns movie soundtrack. Gorgeous, badass song.
This song is incredible, however when I hear it , I get filled with survivors guilt. Back on April 12th through April 13th I went through a 32 hour long craniotomy for dissection and resection of meningioma. It was a tumor mass that was 8cm in diameter. On April 13th roughly around 4:30 pm I was announced as unresponsive while they were reversing anesthesia. The part of this moment I remember the most is when I was speaking with several friends of mine who had passed away. It seemed like myself as a whole had left earth. I end up speaking with 3 close friends of mine who had passed away several years before. I remember saying to my friend Andrew who passed away in Afghanistan, “ well guys it looks like I’ll be going you shortly “! I stood there and spoke with them for what felt like hours. The next thing I remember is when my eyes opened up in the operating room. I heard several of the staff members yelling out my name , oh my god we got him. Thank you god , I can’t believe we got Chris back. I can’t believe we got him back ! This is a moment I should have almost no memory of but I remember every last detail.
Proud to say I know these guys personally. STRAIGHT OUTTA YORK!!!
Live songs: "I Alone"
"Run To The Water"
"Dolphins Cry"
"Heaven"
"The River"
"Turn My Head"
"Mystery"
I adore their song "Ghost".
You nailed it. As others have said, it's not about a woman dying in childbirth, which many people think.
This was a CD I bought and played endlessly on a job site one summer and a buddy of mine that only listed to either rap or r&b, got so mad at me cause it stuck in his head and his wife got annoyed with him walking around their house singing it all the time. LOL!! Great song!
This song hits me different every time I hear it. Brilliant songwriting and performance.
I remember their album before this, which wasn't famous, having some quite spiritual themes in the lyrics.
I Alone by Live! 😎🔥🤘🎸
Selling The Drama by Live! 😎🔥🤘🎸
I was wondering when someone would finally do a Live reaction ,they also do
an awesome acoustic session!
Great review & reaction you two!..👍👍
This is a great song. My favorite one by Live is The Beauty of Gray.
Oh man great throwback, album called throwing copper? Something like this. I need to relisten after this reaction. Their best album maybe? 👍
One of the best songs ever. Really deep. Love it.
Great song, beautiful video.
Dolphin's Cry by Live! 😎🔥🤘🎸
In the 90s with Alternative Rock and Grunge.. Animals and Cockroaches were inserted in videos a lot upping the Grunge Factor exponentially! You'll see it in a lot of those videos..
I also love Live - I Alone
Pain lies on the river side is a great song of theirs.
As others have mentioned, the whole album Throwing Copper is great. I personally love Shit Town and Waitress.
I alone is a good one! Great band! Saw them live at Woodstock
Me too
The only song I've ever heard with the word placenta in it. 🤔🤔🤔
Yeah they've got several really great songs. Some of the best Alt-Rock out there.
this song was a big hit there early raw stuff was fire!
I have always love this song. It invokes some deep and strong emotions. Question: can anyone identify the female backing vocalist, her voice sounds familiar but I can't quite place her name.
Great song! Love Live, great band!
Listen to White Discussion by them, absolute banger, wow!
"Overcome" is one of the most powerful videos! Footage of 911 and the music make me tear up every time
Throwing Copper is a banger album. Not a bad song on it.
This song is so damn beautiful.
Fantastic song. If you like this style of music another fantastic band from this timeframe was Sponge. Their songs Wax Ecstatic, Have You Seen Mary and Plowed were all fantastic songs that got lots of airplay on MTV and radio back in the day.
Song: starts
Me: 😢
I remember them early on they had an opening band called In Concert. They were billed Live and In Concert. Clever.
I don't know why, but Live's song Dam at Otter Creek is a favorite of mine. I also like their cover of Johnny Cash's Walk the Line. I'm sure a bunch of their other songs that I like are mentioned in other comments XD
My buddy’s I grew up with 😊
I, Also be and Dolphins Cry are two of their other big songs. Great band.
More Live please
You would like the live video of this at Woodstock!
Should have started with I alone to get a taste and then you can appreciate the voice and the writing in this song. Very talented and this album was amazing to
I have to agree with the other comments, Live is really an underrated band. If you react to them further, I would highly recommend something their Unplugged session. Which was one of the best on MTV, back in the day.
Great band! Check out some of these songs. Selling the Drama, Lakini's Juice, All Over You and I Alone.
One of THE best albums of the era. Next song... 'IRIS' or go full welly with 'STAGE'.
Great song and reaction. I’d recommend listening to selling the drama from them
