    I have a Vitamix and I’ve been thinking about making chia seed pudding in the Vitamix.

    Yes this all makes sense any hard shelled seeds should always be ground for better absorption otherwise they just pass through your body and are wasted I use a vitamix and grind enough for a week keeping them for longer they can go rancid super seeds thanks for promoting good health video

      No problem, and thanks for watching! Yes, I think just like it’s common to grind flax seeds, it’s the same reason to grind chia seeds, or any hard seed, as well.
      Didn’t know you could use a Vitamix for this. Thanks for sharing!

    I soak prunes and chia in hot water then use stick blender into a jam consistency for my rice cake or overnight oats.

      I haven’t tried one, however I’ve heard that some won’t work, if they don’t grind the seeds fine enough. Thanks for the tip 👍

    Doesn’t that oxidise the ALA?

    • @YouEatPlants

      Not sure. What I do is try to make not too much at a time so there isn’t a lot of time after it’s ground before it’s eaten. (Which is why I personally wouldn’t buy ground chia seeds). Then I also store in the fridge and in an airtight container. Maybe all that helps? I’ve seen studies where ground chia seeds led to the highest amount of ALA in the blood stream, so I have no idea, but it’s possible? 🤷‍♂️

      Based on studies, it doesn't as it still provide nearly identical benefits as Soaked Chia.

    Do you need to drink water after this?

    • @YouEatPlants

      So, some do recommend drinking water with the chia seeds, because they absorb water, so it’s thought that maybe they absorb water from your intestines. Depending on how much you eat, I assume it wouldn’t be a LOT of water absorbed by the chia seeds in reality. So it’s recommended, to help stay hydrated, but, I wouldn’t say it’s 100% necessary (I don’t think you are going to become intensely dehydrated or anything from them). Plus the body is pretty good at signaling when it needs water (thirst), so I think you would be fine to not stress too much about it, if that makes sense! It’s good to stay hydrated but I don’t think anything seriously adverse would happen if you didn’t. (Just don’t eat a ton of chia seeds all at once)

    Do you think your baby bullet will be able to grind cardamom seeds without the skin? Thanks

    • @YouEatPlants
      @YouEatPlants  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not sure exactly, but I would think so if they are able to grind chia seeds, and I’ve also used it to grind flax seeds pretty well. A spice grinder might work good also

    Will this work for hemp seeds also?

    • @YouEatPlants
      @YouEatPlants  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure, I’ve never tried it. But it does work for flax seeds as well. These both have hard shells. From what I’ve heard, you shouldn’t need to grind hemp seeds though since they don’t have the hard outer shell

    I have a magic bullet
    and a coffee grinder. Will these work as well as the baby bullet? Thank you for the video.

    • @YouEatPlants
      @YouEatPlants  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re welcome! ❤️ Im not sure exactly about those, but I have a Ninja, which I assume is close to the Magic Bullet (but maybe not) and that did not work. The problem was it didn’t grind it up fine enough, the seeds were too small.
      A coffee grinder might work better, and I’d be curious to know the outcome if you try it. It’s designed for coffee beans which are small but, bigger than chia seeds. It may depend on the model.
      I have heard that slice grinders work well, since they are designed for smaller foods and for grinding them up into a powder. Thanks for watching! Hope this helps!
