Awesome walkthrough. Milon's Secret Castle was one of my favorite childhood games. Despite its flaws, its trippy charm and fun-to-get-lost-in rooms kept me coming back for more. I still remember the joy of hearing that full bonus round arrangement for the first time.

yeah when he stared ranting on games that are just hard like this. this game doesnt suck as much as he made it sound. it takes mad patience and skills.

They are easy to get started on with little or no instructions, because they are arcade-style games. Compare Milon's Secret Castle to other Japan-developed video games released in 1986.
Not quite. Each music box you touch not only let's you play another bonus round, but it also adds another instrument to the orchestra/band. The player was purposely NOT getting any of the notes after the 1st music box because he didn't need them. He's that good :o
Castlevania, Contra, Ninja Gaiden and R-Type games were tough and occasionally cheap as hell, but they were also fair and fun to play. You had a clue what you were doing and what the hell you're supposed to do. If you didn't have the manual when you bought this game, chances are you got stuck five minutes into the game. Sorry if people don't find wandering around castles blowing bubbles very fun.
Which game is more unfair: Milon's Secret Castle or the Japan-only game by Taito titled "Takeshi no Chōsenjō" (lit. "Takeshi's Challenge")? After the strategy guide for Takeshi's Challenge was released, the author of it passed away. The publisher of it received 400 phone calls a day, most of them were one minute long. The game can't even be beat with the strategy guide. Takeshi is known as Vic Romano on MXC (known in Japan and Europe as "Takeshi's Castle").
A very nice game. Quite impossible for the "common gamer" without the unlimited continues, but was a nice exploration/adventure flick. The music box bonus stage was indeed the hilight of this game.
is it just me, or do the first 2 music box stages sound the same? The 2nd bonus stage adds a pair of symbols, but you can hear it in the 1st stage as well.
I like to think he used auto rapid-fire, but it's not inconceivable that he didn't. I knew some video gamers back in my day who had FREAKISHLY fast thumbs.
If the NES Contra, the original Castlevania, some Ninja Gaiden games and the R-TYPE series are difficult and gamers like them, then why dislike Milon's Secret Castle, even when you want something very challenging?
i did it once,............after a long time playing,........it was in japanese so i had some problems with the hints,............i'm gonna play it again soon,........in us or europe version:)

子供の頃一度もクリア出来たことがなく、楽器のフルオケも見ることができなかったので、感動してます。
迷宮組曲のプレイ動画はいくつか見てきましたが全楽器集めているのは初めて見ました。またメロディーの邪魔にならないように音符をとらない配慮もさすがだと思います。お見事でした
これをクラッシック(ミニ)にいれてくれてたら間違いなくかってたわ、、大好きだったんだよーこれねー

このカセット持ってました!クリアは出来なかったけどすごくはまりました!ボーナスステージは、最後になると結構いい演奏だよね!今、何回か聞き直しました!
昨日8分割されていた攻略プレイを見ましたが、こちらはさらに凄い。次元が違います。ハニカムも取らず楽器箱も音符は取得せず終わりかと思ったらまさかのクリアー。
ボーナスステージごとにアンサンブルが重なるこのお洒落感!
当時のクリエーターすごすぎ!!
しかも偽プリンセスの場所はピンポイントでやり込みすぎでビックリしました。ボス戦も最短時間。15分以内で全クリ凄いです。お疲れ様です。
楽器増えてるのを楽しめなかった自分が恥ずかしい。当時、鬼粘りでクリアした思いでが蘇りました。ありがとう!

恐らくゲームそのものより、BGMで印象に残っている人が多いんじゃないでしょうか。
とはいえ、ゲームの中身も結構作りこんでいるので、やりがいはあります。
この技術が21世紀にもあれば、ハドソンもねぇ・・・。

自分なんて、famtasiaやるまで何時間かけても最上階に行けなかったのに!すごすぎ。最初の音符取りで、ジャンプしないで50以上取るとこなんて脱帽です。

ボス、ここまで早く倒せなかった気がするが…
ムダの無さ、ハイジャンプのキレ具合…腕がヤバすぎます。音楽は聞くためにやるくらいですから、そっちが気になりました。その昔コロコロかなんかの付録マンガ(隠れキャラマンだっけな)で、「迷宮組曲を30分でクリアするヤツがいるらしい!」とかいう内容のがありました。それを越えようと25分クリアまではいったのですが。まさか15分とは…練習します。
はらぺーにょ その漫画読んだ事あります。その漫画のオリキャラと高橋名人がいましたよね。迷宮組曲の中に入ってクリアしていたような。楽しい漫画でしたね。
もうご存知かもしれませんが、これはいわゆるTAS動画なのでムダが無いのは当然なんです。
実際に人がリアルにプレイしてる訳じゃなく、エミュレーターのツールを使って再現された動画になります。

The makers of this game were obviously high when they put it together.

oh come on guys, the game only really fucks you over in the last few levels when you're about to fight the final boss.

This is a crazy trial and error game
so to get the best song at the end like this, you have to get all the music boxes and lets all the notes fall?
