How? A bland and empty world, repetitive side missions, boring characters and a bland story. How was this game a head of its time? It's the worst entry in the infamous franchise.
inFamous 2 will always be my favorite game of all time, but Second Son is an excellent addition to the series, and was absolutely worth the $20 I spent.
I've just finished Infamous. This game has left such an amazing impression on me. First of all, the graphics are out of this world. The fps may have taken a fall due to that, but I wasn't going to let that stop me from enjoying this masterpiece of a game. The most important feature of this game, in my opinion, is that you can choose your path. You can opt to be a heartless, power-hungry renegade or a benevolent and gracious paragon. For my first playthrough, I chose to be a renegade. Story-wise, this game has exceeded my expectations. It left me with that gut-wrenching feeling of not being able to relive the game as I did in my first playthrough. One thing I do feel is a little off though, is the fact that the main story only lasts for about 10 hours, which is actually not that short considering you're probably going to replay it again to see what powers and different outcomes you missed. Now, to express my opinion on the powers. Overall, I like all of them. Mostly smoke, albeit I did feel a little restricted as I was not able to freely move around like I did with neon or video, but it's the coolest looking power without a doubt. The worst power, if you ask me, is video. I just found it a bit frivolous. I mean flying swords that annihilate everything in their path? Sheesh, my 10 year old nephew would have been able to make up something more creative than that. Ultimately, this is a game full of exciting yet frustrating moments. It contains a lot of emotional segments, which I absolutely adored. It gives you the feeling of power, as if everything was in your control ( if you choose renegade) or it can give you the feeling of being a good samaritan and it feels like you're actually working for a good cause. All in all, it's a 9.5/10 from me. Thanks Infamous, I had a really good time playing you.
Gears of War was the reason for buying a Xbox 360 And now Infamous Second Son was the reason for buying the PS4 I loved this game it completes any comic book superhero fan boy fantasy
Khal Johnson It is no longer my favorite game on PS4, but I got so much enjoyment out of my good and evil playthroughs. The gameplay is second to none.
Yeah I just finished the game with the hero karma... I wish it was longer... It felt kind of rushed... I was going along doing missions, side missions and then boom I am fighting the final boss lol... Now I want to play evil, but I def agree with you about the short length...
Diesel It took me about 15 hours to complete the game, but that is probably because im a huge infamous fan and I did every side mission and explored the city for hours.
I wish the ending of Infamous 2 was like that. It didn't feel like a black and white choice at the end, considering the consequences that would result from either choice.
Call of Duty does what it sets out to better than this game does. Infamous is about choice, length, story, graphics, charters and gameplay, and only two or three of the thing this game does right (To be fare it does it really well). Also different reviewers.
cod AW story was pretty interesting though, not a story that would blow you away or something like that but its good and the multiplayer is pretty fun. I wouldn't give it a 9.1 but a 8.5 its pretty fun.
Ryrygamers It should be The Infamous Collection:Definitive Edition. (Infamous 1 and 2, festival of blood, Second Son, and First Light) And Infamous:With Great Power(A sequel with Delsin, Cole, and Abigail. So yeah Cole comes back somehow)
Sandeep I swear they said its gonna be top 4000 Ps4 games will be on Ps5 for backwards compatibility. I was so sire they said that days after they said it was gonna be 100
Really guys? 8.7 Is an amazing score and after playing and completeing the game after 2 days I must say I'm far than impressed. I fell in love with the game, with Delsin's attitude, with the unbalanced story and the funny combat system. The game is perfect. It's something I needed, something that steered away from the thick stories from some of the games I've recently been playing. The graphics made this game so beautiful I'd just sit there and smile sometimes. The side missions are a way of me just taking a break from the story and hunting some achievements. Stop talking smack about this game, give it a chance. Because after reading reviews on launch day all my hopes dropped, but as soon as I played it I enjoyed it so much. Funny thing is I hated the 1st 2 infamous games. So they did something right.
I just completed it a little while ago. The graphics, story and the new choice of powers made the whole game amazing. Best Infamous game to date for me.
no spoilers... i beat this today. i was pleased to see that i have only gone through 63% of the game after doing so. the game feels like youre still on a mission after beating it which makes me want that 100% completion. i finished the good path and started the evil right after. i would recommend doing this as well. you get attached to the charm of the character on the good path. when you play the evil path you look at him very differently. sure, the story is pretty much the exact same but when i was playing through the good path i felt like i was some marvel comic book good guy that everyone adored. when playing through the evil path i almost wanna smack our main character for the way he treats people around him and that feeling started from the BEGINNING of the path. it actually made me kinda say, "aw, i feel bad for the people who care about him" when you play through the first stage and pick evil. you see his attitude in a different way and it even FEELS a bit rotten being him... but that is all made up for by having slightly different powers that do just a bit more damage. i usually agree with ign on most of their reviews... even the ones that people tend to disagree with in majority. i feel that most of them know what theyre talking about over there. but the morality of this game is actually not even close to a downfall. you guys gave this an 8.7 and gave infamous2 a 9.0... this game DESTROYS infamous 2 in every way, shape and form. from the story to the gameplay and even the replay value. also, i believe delsin being less sticky on his parkour was a damn good thing. cole in a building corner or an ally was like trying to get out of a rug store wearing a velcro suit at times. this felt more polished and delsin doesnt feel light as air when he climbs buildings. cole felt like paper in the wind compared to the way this feels. i dno, i wouldve given this at least a 9.0 but seeing as how you felt infamous2 was worth the same rating i would easily say it could graze a 10. my personal would be 9.5. best in the series and the best game ive played in a long time.
i always go the good guy route. i can't even enjoy being the bad guy. in mass effect and skyrim, my 2 favorite games with that theme, i only played as a good guy
yeah, im looking forward to expert mode for my first platinum. going evil though... so much easier to just kill everything. they made getting a plat easy on this game... not complaining seeing as how it may be the only one i ever get haha
I was able to get platinum along with ones for BF4 and Resogun. This one I went with good and yet it still felt easy for me, especially when you get something like neon and video which were a major help, whether it's neon for combat or video for transportation
After my first run through of the game, I was little underwhelmed. However, when I eventually went in for a second run going evil on the highest difficulty, I started to appreciate just how well the game plays. I'd give it a solid 8.
This game is great, it's very underrated by the fans of infamous 1 and 2 though. However, it's a fun game which is definitely worth getting. The biggest complaint I would have would probably be that the music is not great, apart from that it's a really good game!
Benjamin Affliction The Story is around 10 hours, and although i haven't played infamous 1 or 2 I'm almost certain that the story is separated from the first 2
Can't wait to pop this into my PS4 but doesn't anyone else feel like 8.7 doesn't seem right? a solid 9.0 would feel more perfect, i don't know... i just feel weird about the overall score but i'm happy.
I'm with you on that too, It was the reveiwers gripe with morality that kept it a couple points too low. But honestly i think the clear black and white choices is what makes the game, i either want to be truly evil or truly good. I dont want grey choices that keep me constantly switching back from to good too bad actions. Story wise- I havent played it so I cant say anything about his conclusion on that
This game looked and ran better than it had any right to. Sucker Punch is such an underrated developer when it comes to presentation. Seriously. These guys rival the likes of Naughty Dog, Rockstar and Dice.
I actually really like Delsin, I just feel like the execution of the morality left him feeling a bit more plain than he really is. I'm sure there were some time constraints on pushing out a AAA title for PS4 but as a near complete reboot from the ground up for inFamous, it's a solid outing imho. Not amazing or incredible, but it's a solid buy and a blast to play.
Infanous Second Son is freakin awesome. I love Delsin, he's badass and funny as hell. You get 4 different powers all unique which is awesome. the graphics are great, the gameplay is amazingly fun, and the map is outstanding, the city looks dence and alive, unlike empire city and new marais. My only complaints about this game: Small map, could've had at least another island on the left or right. Short story, I finished it on the second day I had the game, but maybe that's just because I played A LOT. But it was definitely a lot shorter than the previous two. No side missions. Yes, there are those small things to do to clear districts, but there are no side missions where a civilian asks you to help them. In Infamous 1 or 2 there were at least SIXTY side missions, and you were forced to finish ALL of them to max out your upgrades. In Second Son, those don't exist. And there were VERY little blast shards. I collected them all so quickly. And maxed out everything so quickly. Melee moves didn't have awesome slow-mo finishing moves like in infamous 2. My biggest complaint, is the concrete power not having karma options, or a devastator move. I found the Concrete power to be very similar to the ice powers from infamous two. 1. They should've had "Concrete Jump" like "Ice Jump" from infamous 2. 2. The devastator move should've been covering all the enemies in concrete, like the Ice devastator from Infamous 2. 3. Karma options like subdue or execute should've been covering enemies with concrete or cuffing there arms and legs to the ground. Other than those few minor setbacks, i agree with IGN on the score. This is a great game. Infamous 2 remains the best!!!
I've had this game for Afew hours and I'm loving it soo much already. I love the music, the light reflections the combat and free flow open world movement. So far I've only made it up to the part where you first fight the girl with neon light powers, and the fight they have in the building where you have to drain all the neon lighting to darken the room and all you can see is the light that come from your powers.. That was beautiful
As an Xbox fan I would like to say this game looks awesome, I haven't watched much videos about (Since I bought the xb1) but I'm glad both consoles have 2 great exclusives.
That's what I never understood about Microsoft fans, they never get any exclusives, yet are still tricked into thinking they are. Every Xbox game that comes out is released immediately (or eventually) for PC. Everyone has a PC, therefore there are no exclusives. Not to mention the Xbone is only 720p native resolution, Ps4 is 1080p. My 6 year old laptop from Walmart can run 1080p Titanfall better than Xbone. But to each their own, I guess.
***** it's in the internet laws of physics. *throat clear* Thou shan't be nice to a fellow TH-camr if he shall be on the receiving end of more likes than you
***** My favourites are Titanfall, PvZ garden warfare (you wouldnt believe it but its a great game), Forza (if you are a motorhead this game is amazing), and deadrising 3
DO NOT WATCH THIS REVIEW IF YOU HAVEN'T BEATEN THE GAME. remember the time when internet wasn't around and you were playing a game and it surprises and make you curious along the way? It's much better if you gonna play second son without any idea of what delsin's other powers are. This video review spoils it all for you :)
***** Radical Entertainment, the developers of the Prototype franchise, were shut down by Activision (their parent company) so the franchise died with them.
***** I played the first Prototype game and it was really fun, but I deleted the game, because there was one story mission, which was completlly impossible to beat! And of course the mission that I'm talking about is the part, where you have to protect the infected nest from the military without any superpower ablilities like claws, shields and other stuff and the reason why the mission was hard was because freaking soldiers couldn't stop shooting rockets at me, throw in 5 tanks and 2 or 3 choppers! I mean jesus christ! I had to reply that mission like 10 times, but still couldn't beat it, but the game was awesome anyways! :) I should try out Prototype 2 and see if the game wouldn't be hard as the 1st prototype game! I played the PC version and playing games like these on PC does take time to get use to, because I usually have played games like these on a console, but sadlly I don't own neitther a PS3 or PS4! Not a big fan of XBOX, but I do like Halo, because Halo has a great story! :)
Honestly I agree with this review for the most part but I'd give it more like a 7.5 or 8 due to 2 more issues in comparison to the last 2 infamous games. The enemies get boring af real quick in this game. I liked that they tried to make improve the enemies abilities over the course of the game but when they all basically have the same abilities except with minor altercations its pretty lame. As per a story perspective it makes more sense but my favorite thing about the prior games were the different enemy types and boss fights when progressing through the story and I don't feel I got that seem scale of epic battles in this one. The 2nd part is that some of the side quests didn't feel like they added up to much. I can't say that the other infamous games were better in this regard. it's always seem to be an issue and I with the side quests could have more weight to the main story.
What's up with these bs decimal ratings? Why can't IGN jut rate this game as either 8.5 or 9? Or even just stick to integers 1-10? The 8.7 rating just seems unnecessary.
Damn... that is one pretty fucking game, and it actually has gameplay! (Looking at you Ryse Son of Rome) It's about damn time the real new generation games start coming out. I'm already so fed up with cross-gen shit holding down current gen. Move on already!
Have a PC from the last four years and can only get one console? Go with what exclusives you think will be released in the future, but deciding between Second Son or Titanfall is not the way to decide between consoles. Best of both worlds with PS4 and Second Son along with PC and Titanfall. ;)
I do love the infamous series. And SS is great. Like really great. But here are the flaws I see: the story isnt as strong as it seems, and apart from the side missions, its kinda short. There could have been more interaction with fetch and eugene. U only did the missions after u first meet them, and then they help in the final battle (which was amazing imo. That tower fight was cool), but thats it. Also, the doops were only there for two weeks. I thought it was years. Also again, (SPOILERS) augustine tried to save the conduits altogether. The hell kind of saving is that? Could have at least given some decent living conditions. If a direct sequel was made, it should be something like fighting against the government. Shoulda made augustine some crazy powerful totalitarian president or something. And maybe in the middle of the game, u break the other conduits out and a war breaks out between them and the government forces. Yes I am aware of the 'one piece' in this but it could have worked.
This game is the shortest I've played yet, I completed it in the afternoon... Damn. I know games are getting shorted because of the costs, but this takes the piss. I hope they bring out DLC that is really worthy and huge in content like a story or something because I really like the game and can't stop playing, but the problem is I'm just jumping around wanting more.
I fell the exact same way. When I was done I was thinking, "That was it?" But it is such a fun game that it didn't really matter. There is still plenty of things to do when the story is over anyway.
malteeaser101 It's short if you rush through it, Doing both good and evil, with a fair amount of free-roaming and side missions? 40 hour long at least.
Are you people suggesting that by replaying the same story and by purposely taking longer the story somehow magically gets longer? Wtf no way am I some sort of sheep compromising and trying to justify a £58 purchase with that nonsense.
I'm a major infamous fan. I beat Second Son once good and once bad just like I did for Infamous 2. After I 100% my Good Story save, I'll play it again on good. The boss battles were easy though. The visuals and gameplay are better than 2 but the story of Infamous 2 was amazing.
I think the game was great. There were some elements like the choice system that could have been fleshed out a bit more in the storyline, but it was still a very good game. I also agree with another commenter that a few times (once or twice) the A.I of one of the NPC's would spazz out. But other than that, this game was a lot of fun to play.
8.7? I have a feeling IGN was bribed. This game was amazing and the best infamous I have ever played. The sorry was okay but that was the reason Delsin wanted to do this. Wanted to repay a favour. It doesn't have to be so dramatic. This game in my opinion is a solid 10. I loved it and once you actually play it in person, it is amazing.
You realize that a "solid 10" means it is THE BEST it can be and it is PERFECT. Well, no. There are bugs, glitches, and plot holes. It's not perfect. Also, i don't get why you are bitching about an 8.7. That's fucking good!
Anthony A-Games Not true, lots of reviewers have given perfect scores. It doesnt mean the game is bugless, just means you love it so much you look past small flaws.
John Schaeffer That's not what a review should be about. A review is not "looking past the flaws" a review is plainly, telling people how good the game is, as a whole. Opinion should have no input on it. I love the game, but that does not mean it is perfect, by any means.
Anthony A-Games Uncharted 3 received a perfect 10 and was freaking amazing and best PS3 title in a decade. I can't wait for uncharted on the PS4. Now thats going to be a gorgeous ass game.
Anthony A-Games Im not saying I disagree in a sense... BUT... NO GAME WILL EVER, EVER, EVER BE BUGLESS... Sooo instead people give perfect scores for games that THEY can look past the small flaws. That doesnt mean they shouldnt mention them tho.
I've watched this review about 20 times now. I'm probably not gonna be able to get a PS4 until the end of the year, but as soon as I do I'm buying Infamous Second Son. This review makes me even more pumped the more times I watch it. I'm a huge fan of the first 2 games (especially the 2nd) and cannot wait to get my hands on Second Son. Thanks IGN.
Here's an idea for the sequel. Instead of giving scattered choices through the story, that really only makes sense if you either pick always blue or always red, create two different stories that you pick from the begging and play all the way through the end.
Surely you must be kidding. In a world full of dull FPS multiplayer games, TitanFall is one of the most addictive/satisfying shooters to come out. Obviously, it could've been better, but for a very small-sized development team, they did well.
knack was ok, just repetitive, loved the art style I'm risking hate here, but it was so balanced, it could give tf2 a run for its money!! ryse, yeah, it sucked! don't know about shadowfall, haven't really been into that series, and while on the subject of games, ever heard of the division? looks promising, you should look it up hell, what's surprising is the wii u actually has the most diverse lineup so far.
As a gamer, I felt insulted when I played Knack. They said they would give something of the same caliber of platforming quality such as the CrashBandicoot days. I grew up with the Crash games and Knack is nowhere near that level.
No, I'm talking about the Crash Bandicoot games from the Playstation 1 days, developed by Naughty Dog. Mind over Mutant was actually considered one of the worst in the series of Crash games developed outside of Naughty Dog. If you liked that game, then you'll love the original Playstation titles.
My opinion: It's not a glorious shiny master piece, with unbelieveable story, but what it does it does right.First infamous second son has one thing, that really shines out: "style".You dont really think about smoke neon and video power when thinking about super powers.what is also nice are the charakters.delsin isnt your usual shiny knight in armor.he is a outsider punk or how you call it,with that thing that matters :personalities and so do the other charakters .the others have less, but they're pretty cool considering the short time they had with delsin.the game itself was a little repetitive at times at times and story itself ain't a master piece ethier. in the end it does good in what it is : being a game.
8.7 out of 10 is amazing for a game like this. I thought it was well deserved. I played through this game and loved all of it. They were right about the morality part that didn't make much sense really but other than that great graphics, characters, visuals, and great storyline.
I actually prefered inFamous 1 over this one. Dont get me wrong, Second son is awesome but the story, enemies, moral choises and at some point even your powers were more fun. Also the comicbook like cutscenes were awesome.
I loved this game. Far too short, but it's also technically 2 different main stories due to the fully Good or fully Evil play through options. The powers are awesome, too. They vary depending on which karma you are. I'd pick this up if you haven't yet.
Just because he didn't like the story all that much, doesn't mean he is bought out by microsoft. I've heard complaints about the story from other reviewers too, plus it almost got a nine, it wouldn't have scored so high if he was paid off.
4:30 he has a good point; if you choose the good karma route, the story goes well with the game. However, the evil karma route doesn't really change all that much about the story. The karma system is definitely one of the low-points. It's also hard to use the good karma weapons like the "comet drop" in combat because you can't hurt ANYONE or the meter goes back to zero.
This game is awesome! I don't understand the hate, the only problem I have with this game is the enemies A.I. are sometimes stupid, other than that, the best game on the PS4!
Lol your hilarious you really expect me to type in formal language lol this is TH-cam comments get use to people who don't have the time to type an essay
This game made me feel like I was playing Jak 2 again! It didnt feel like another gta it felt like an awesome platform game like the jak and daxter series.
I never noticed the level of destruction before! at 1:30 in the video, is there that kind of destruction in the entire game? Or like at least somewhat consistently throughout it? It reminds me of Red Faction Guerilla and I've been looking for a game with that kind of destruction ever since! Was really disappointed by the direction they took with Armageddon... anyway, maybe Second Son will be that awesome destruction game I'm looking for... or am I way off base here?
It is awesome in destruction. The bridge decomission sequance at the start of the game(Sorta start) is also amazing in destruction, though you had no part with it(A bridge is fucking falling apart. You have concerete everywhere in a destroyed bridge, along with a whole lot of stuff left there).
His review is fair but I still feel that he shouldn't have harped on the karma system. Karma has always been a part of infamous and is a staple of the franchise.
This game is what made me chose a PS4 and I am not disappointed. Titanfall looks ok but only ok. The acting in this reminded me a great deal of The Last Of Us (not just because of Troy Baker) and if that's anything to go by then it is well worth your £45...Sony have this market wrapped up in my opinion and we will start to see gaes manufacturers working side by side with Sony more than Microsoft IMO
I'm playing through for a second time going through the Evil path. I have to say the Evil Delsin is a lot more fun to play as, playing as Good Delsin was fun but the Evil side just feels like I've been unshackled, clearing enemies is easier not having to worry about civilians. I'm also playing on Expert difficulty on my second playthrough, I would highly recommend the Evil side for this because having to be careful sometimes got me killed, on normal. So far I'd say Expert difficulty isn't really that hard. I'm already 53% in and I haven't had much problems. The 2nd boss was harder but I think that was to do with the fact that I didn't have the Slow Motion ability this time around. There is something else that I heard being brought up on Creature Talk last night. The way they explained things when it comes to Cole McGrath was like "Cole is Dead, Deal With It" The good ending from inFamous 2 is cannon, Cole died trying to end the Conduit situation. So that was all for nothing, Sucker Punch spent 2 games bulding him up and killed him for nothing, they had him in other Sony games. And they said it was because the majority chose to sacrifice Cole, um no shit, most people played as the good side, then tried the dark side but most people are NOT going to play through the game twice. Most people just don't have the time. The explaination of the conduit gene mutated or some conduits weren't caught just seems like a lame way of explaining how conduits still exist. Just a quick question for those who have played the game, is it just me or are the trophies really easy? It's not like they just hand you them all without some effort but it's not like you need to consult a guide on how to get them. I'm not really a trophy whore. After I got PS+ and stop playing Xbox 360 online, I lost interest in getting Achievements, unless it is tied to unlocking something in game. I'd say it is easier than that inFamous 2 vampire expansion game.
The one thing that broke my heart when I played this game is how short it is i mean o my god. I really hated the small objectives because they got really repetitive and so I just played through the story and I finished in like six hours. The reason is that there are barely any side missions u can do with the supporting characters unlike infamous two. So Instead of focusing on character development and impressing infamous fans they just wanted to make a sand box and put u in as a guy who can blow up stuff
I actually think this game deserves a solid 9! I'm really enjoying it, I feel like a super hero! Next playthrough I'm going to be the super villain, can't wait.
I think it deserves the 8.7.. the complaints outed in this review justify not going above 8.9. It earns the high grade of 8.7 from the open world, freedom, powerup system and visual fidelity. The story and morality is what lacks (and with that I mean for 9.0 or higher standards). It is good but more was to be expected from this game and a game of this type.. Nevertheless 8.7 is a pretty good grade.
After playing Infamous 1, 2 & Second Son, I'm convonced that Sucker Punch can actually make a good Static Shock game. Which ironically both share some similarities between them if you think about it.
This was the first Infamous game I played, which I guess makes me unbiased. I honestly loved the game, and it deserves at least a 9 out of 10. Most of the people reviewing this game are comparing it to the previous two, which is a shame because if it were a standalone game people would give it 10s across the board.
The Vision it's a good game, but the whole story/character parts were missing. I really didn't like that the story was 8-10 hours long, and when you'd meet a character, you would do one mission with them, and they would been thrown away till the end.
This game felt very different from the other inFamous games. It was very short, and I just can't stand how they introduced Fetch, had her for one mission, then brushed her off till the last mission. She seemed like a very interesting character, and I really enjoyed her interactions (the very few that is) with Delsin, so I wish we got more.
Just finally playing in 2023… the gameplay and controls such as aiming and free roam traversing is really rough. Many times way too sticky and hard to attach to what you’re actually intending. The controls of the PS3 games felt way better imo. Not to mention another huge complaint, your movement speed across the map or up buildings is such a pain until you unlock the higher level abilities
I have played this game for 5 hours and love it, its the best looking game on console ever. The graphics is crazy good, the light effects are just beutiful. BUY IT AND ENJOY
Oh the morality system is such a huge step back. Only 1 decision in the entire game feels like an actual conflict! (Not even a very big one if you're generally a forgiving person) All others are "be good or be evil just because..." Unlike Infamous 1 and 2, there is no motivation to take up the darkside at all... Take Infamous 1... you're a unappreciated hero that is looking to survive... how long will it take you to start striking back? Will you die a Martyr or see yourself become the villain?... It makes no sense on this one, someone who is trying to save his village to commit mass murder with no motivations other than being a psychopath. The worst part is that these decisions lock you into missions! Say you decided to redeem your friends... you then can't choose the evil version of that mission! Nope, you chose to be good earlier, now you can't execute the next bad guy even if you had a change of heart... whereas in infamous 1 and 2 you could switch sides easily and with motivations behind it... or you could partake on evil missions without being bound by morality.
+akiflyer This was my biggest disappointment with the game as well. In the previous 2 titles, i felt like it was oddly appropriate for Cole to go out and do the dirty deeds because his character suggested that he wasn't a goody-two-shoes character, and he isn't. Another disappointment was the choice in the ending of InFamous 2 that they chose as canonic. I felt that the story could've been way more interesting if they had followed the Evil ending of InFamous 2. Just think, Cole fought to repopulate the world with Conduits to be defeated due to a combined effort of the world's military, forced into hiding to bid his time. Seven years later, with the DUP established to protect the world from Conduits, the Plague still ravaging the world and Cole's name a relic of the past. A new conduit Delsin shows up to free the conduits and protect them (with aid from Cole and his remaining forces) But once the DUP and Augustine is defeated, Cole rear's his head and you have to decide. Whether to stay by Cole's side as he complete's his mission of making a world of conduits. Or protecting the people from Cole's plans and fighting him. Possibly a sure-fire way of curing the plague may emerge that Cole disagrees with, making the good choice seem more reasonable. (since InFamous 2's Good ending didn't have much logic to making that choice other than the blue text)
+Adorable Zergling I don't know if you know this, but that story sounds a hell of a lot similar to the story with Prototype and Prototype 2...Not the exact details, but the overall story.
I personally loved both of them, not for any of the story mind you, but for the action and fun running around. I am possibly getting a ps4 soon, and was thinking of picking this game up for a similar experience as prototype, not for story but for awesome powers and stuff, you think it is a good buy?
***** After seeing that little clip of 'gameplay' he had more than enough rights to bash it. He didn't even bash it anyway, he said that he wasn't impressed, and rightfully so if that's all he saw. I wasn't impressed either and my excitement for the game has diminished a significant amount. Beautiful visuals, but not enough to satisfy a gamer. I really don't know what goes through people's brains when they comment about Colin, the man actually talks a lot of sense if you listen to him. Having a negative opinion about a game doesn't make you biased, it gives you individuality. Under rating a vita game is expected considering how a lot of them pale against console games.
It was my first ps4 game. I loved every single bit of it. Great game
My first PS4 game was Halo 5.

My first was Lego marvel.
Hey man how long is the story? Is it a short game or a long one. I was thinking of buying it.
This game was way ahead of its time 😭
Why?
How? A bland and empty world, repetitive side missions, boring characters and a bland story. How was this game a head of its time? It's the worst entry in the infamous franchise.
@@t.o.p.4175 Visually speaking, it was the best looking game when it came out.
StarsnGravity Most fun gameplay in the series
@@t.o.p.4175 sorry should have been specific I meant visually the side missions were crap I agree
inFamous 2 will always be my favorite game of all time, but Second Son is an excellent addition to the series, and was absolutely worth the $20 I spent.
Infamous 1 is one of my favourite games ever but i thought 2 was just ok, why did you love 2 so much?
adam collins The story and the gameplay, I was always entertained and the ending hit me hard.
Can buy the first two Infamous games on the PlayStation store?
KingdomMinded 87 I think they're up, yeah.
Asari I wouldn't say bad just not as fine tuned as 2
I've just finished Infamous.
Hi which powers do you think is the most fun?
Mine is video .It was awesome for me .
Smoke
Strahinja Jovanovic is it 60 fps?
Strahinja Jovanovic agreed
Gears of War was the reason for buying a Xbox 360
And now Infamous Second Son was the reason for buying the PS4 I loved this game it completes any comic book superhero fan boy fantasy
It's my favorite game on PS4.
Camden Knies How long have you been playing it? Is it a game that even though the main story is short the free roam can satisfy for a long time?
Khal Johnson It is no longer my favorite game on PS4, but I got so much enjoyment out of my good and evil playthroughs. The gameplay is second to none.
infamous Second son, Uncharted Series and The Last Of Us was the reason for buying the ps4.
+Rolf Baruiz even though 2 of those can be played on the PS3.
Has it really been 8 years since this game came out?
Man time flies
9 but ok
Its 2021 and I'm finally playing this for the very first time. It's a beautiful game, even now. You can feel the age tho
Bought it that year but I'm finally playing it properly now on PS5 to whittle down my large backlog of games. Really fun.
It has great visuals and fun gameplay, but the story was too short for me.
Yeah I just finished the game with the hero karma... I wish it was longer... It felt kind of rushed... I was going along doing missions, side missions and then boom I am fighting the final boss lol... Now I want to play evil, but I def agree with you about the short length...
I was actually kind of surprised when I got to the final boss. But other than that, the game is great...
Diesel It took me about 15 hours to complete the game, but that is probably because im a huge infamous fan and I did every side mission and explored the city for hours.
Joe what are you doing here lol.
Reflex Just giving my thoughts on the game
Maybe they should throw in karma moments where it doesn't directly tell you what choices are good.
I really like that idea
I agree with you. I also think they should add more choices.
Yeah sort of like Fallout, where the game doesn't spell out for you if the choices are good or bad.
I wish the ending of Infamous 2 was like that. It didn't feel like a black and white choice at the end, considering the consequences that would result from either choice.
Damn... that's one hell of an idea!
8.7 but cod AW got a 9.1 Lmfao!!!!!!!😂😂😂😭😭😭
Call of Duty does what it sets out to better than this game does. Infamous is about choice, length, story, graphics, charters and gameplay, and only two or three of the thing this game does right (To be fare it does it really well).
Also different reviewers.
Different reviewers and different video game genres. Please use your brain before posting an ignorant comment...
cod AW story was pretty interesting though, not a story that would blow you away or something like that but its good and the multiplayer is pretty fun. I wouldn't give it a 9.1 but a 8.5 its pretty fun.

Still has some of the best graphics and gameplay to 2019
this is the recent comment i was looking for
Devil may cry 5?
@@entruh4520 I'd say uncharted 4 has the best graphics of this console.
@@entruh4520 They didn't say "the best", they just said "some of the best".
inFAMOUS 2 needs a remaster on PS5
Ps4 and then make a new game for ps5
Ryrygamers
It should be
The Infamous Collection:Definitive Edition. (Infamous 1 and 2, festival of blood, Second Son, and First Light)
And
Infamous:With Great Power(A sequel with Delsin, Cole, and Abigail. So yeah Cole comes back somehow)
Wow just imagine 😭
Sandeep I swear they said its gonna be top 4000 Ps4 games will be on Ps5 for backwards compatibility. I was so sire they said that days after they said it was gonna be 100
Sandeep It says 4k now
Really guys?
I just finished the game in 2 days too.
Bree_ I agree with you and I'm still playing the game two years later
And I think the story is short so you can play it twice once bad and once good
Bree_ on the contrary I loved the first 2 infamous games and didn’t like this one
I completely finished the game with all the trophies in 1 day
I just completed it a little while ago. The graphics, story and the new choice of powers made the whole game amazing. Best Infamous game to date for me.
I don't really know why, but despite all these flaws mentioned here, which I admit are there, this game was a perfect 10/10 for me.
no spoilers... i beat this today. i was pleased to see that i have only gone through 63% of the game after doing so. the game feels like youre still on a mission after beating it which makes me want that 100% completion. i finished the good path and started the evil right after. i would recommend doing this as well. you get attached to the charm of the character on the good path. when you play the evil path you look at him very differently. sure, the story is pretty much the exact same but when i was playing through the good path i felt like i was some marvel comic book good guy that everyone adored. when playing through the evil path i almost wanna smack our main character for the way he treats people around him and that feeling started from the BEGINNING of the path. it actually made me kinda say, "aw, i feel bad for the people who care about him" when you play through the first stage and pick evil. you see his attitude in a different way and it even FEELS a bit rotten being him... but that is all made up for by having slightly different powers that do just a bit more damage. i usually agree with ign on most of their reviews... even the ones that people tend to disagree with in majority. i feel that most of them know what theyre talking about over there. but the morality of this game is actually not even close to a downfall. you guys gave this an 8.7 and gave infamous2 a 9.0... this game DESTROYS infamous 2 in every way, shape and form. from the story to the gameplay and even the replay value. also, i believe delsin being less sticky on his parkour was a damn good thing. cole in a building corner or an ally was like trying to get out of a rug store wearing a velcro suit at times. this felt more polished and delsin doesnt feel light as air when he climbs buildings. cole felt like paper in the wind compared to the way this feels. i dno, i wouldve given this at least a 9.0 but seeing as how you felt infamous2 was worth the same rating i would easily say it could graze a 10. my personal would be 9.5. best in the series and the best game ive played in a long time.
i always go the good guy route. i can't even enjoy being the bad guy. in mass effect and skyrim, my 2 favorite games with that theme, i only played as a good guy
threadysparrow I finished good, then I tried evil, and then I played good again on expert so I could get the bad taste out from evil
yeah, im looking forward to expert mode for my first platinum. going evil though... so much easier to just kill everything. they made getting a plat easy on this game... not complaining seeing as how it may be the only one i ever get haha
I was able to get platinum along with ones for BF4 and Resogun. This one I went with good and yet it still felt easy for me, especially when you get something like neon and video which were a major help, whether it's neon for combat or video for transportation
you all caught up on paper trail? its kind of a bitch trying to figure it out yourself but i kinda cheated most of the way... two more weeks left
It’s 2019 and this is still my favorite game ever. Love every second of it
After my first run through of the game, I was little underwhelmed. However, when I eventually went in for a second run going evil on the highest difficulty, I started to appreciate just how well the game plays. I'd give it a solid 8.
I don't usually agree with IGN's reviews but this one was pretty spot-on.
This game is like a 9.5 for me, the missing .5 id because the story felt shorter, but if sucker punch adds some dlc than i might give a perfect score.
I'm sure sucker punch cares about your review lmao
Diesel its more honest than titanfalls paid reviews or should i say codfall?
I know u posted the comment 2 months ago but a DLC has been announced since then
I'm thinking of getting this game, does anyone recommend it? I liked the previous titles very much.
This game is great, it's very underrated by the fans of infamous 1 and 2 though. However, it's a fun game which is definitely worth getting. The biggest complaint I would have would probably be that the music is not great, apart from that it's a really good game!
Crash Mash Alright, thanks, is the storyline duration short? Or is it like the previous Infamous games.
Benjamin Affliction
The Story is around 10 hours, and although i haven't played infamous 1 or 2 I'm almost certain that the story is separated from the first 2
yes!
i'm a infamous fanboy and i can firmly say this game is the worst, short, hollow, etc etc. it can entertain a kid or the most simple adult
Can't wait to pop this into my PS4 but doesn't anyone else feel like 8.7 doesn't seem right? a solid 9.0 would feel more perfect, i don't know... i just feel weird about the overall score but i'm happy.
I thought the same thing.
I'm with you on that too, It was the reveiwers gripe with morality that kept it a couple points too low. But honestly i think the clear black and white choices is what makes the game, i either want to be truly evil or truly good. I dont want grey choices that keep me constantly switching back from to good too bad actions. Story wise- I havent played it so I cant say anything about his conclusion on that
if you round the 8.7 it'll be a 9 :3
Bazy Gamer Exactly!
Then I guess it's a good thing you didn't watch Adam Sessler's review, who gave it a 6.0 out of 10...
There is very little character development for Fetch and Eugene.
Still a very good game though
And it's especially annoying when they were very interesting charachters.
Ryūsei no Nero I
@@jackkissane4305 fetch got her own game tho
This game looked and ran better than it had any right to. Sucker Punch is such an underrated developer when it comes to presentation. Seriously. These guys rival the likes of Naughty Dog, Rockstar and Dice.
And ...... PS4 wins again
Yep. Xbox fans are crying right now.
+Mattock Jebbard You are a bit late... Did u just buy ur ps4 lmaoo
***** No it's not. infamous is my favorite PS4 game right now.
Mark Rezk You'd be surprised.
+Player One I already am by you.
Can’t believe a game released 7 years ago feels and looks so freaking beautiful 🤯
My only complaints about this game:
Small map, could've had at least another island on the left or right.
Silent Wolf I absolutely agree with you infamous ss is great but 2 is just better
Great Game but they could of made it longer, I didn't want it to end
Yeah I thought when hank tricks you was the half way point but it was like the end
XtheroCKER21X Same :/
Yu no free roam
I always wondered: why use girly neon pink? Then I realized they didn't want to use XBox neon green. Hahaha!
Can't it also be like a blue-purple or something?
HAHAH HAHA SO FUNNY AND CLEVER!! Not.
1:10 Goku would be proud.
Good game, Good review IGN.
BTW Infamous:SS > Titan Fall
8.7 to much water
*too
I've had this game for Afew hours and I'm loving it soo much already.
Yeah, Dead Rising 3 and Infamous SS seem to both be great games, let's all enjoy them without mud slinging each other shall we?
***** I guess maybe Forza 5 if you are a racing fan
***** it's in the internet laws of physics. *throat clear* Thou shan't be nice to a fellow TH-camr if he shall be on the receiving end of more likes than you
***** My favourites are Titanfall, PvZ garden warfare (you wouldnt believe it but its a great game), Forza (if you are a motorhead this game is amazing), and deadrising 3
short is an understatement, I practically finished the game after 2 days I bought it.
I finished infamous 1 and 2 in a week on good play through
DO NOT WATCH THIS REVIEW IF YOU HAVEN'T BEATEN THE GAME. remember the time when internet wasn't around and you were playing a game and it surprises and make you curious along the way? It's much better if you gonna play second son without any idea of what delsin's other powers are. This video review spoils it all for you :)
Seeing this makes me sad that there will never be another Prototype game. That series seemed to have much more potential imo.
I agree
No more prototype? Where did you hear this?
Yeah but it had really really crappy gameplay.
I should try out Prototype 2 and see if the game wouldn't be hard as the 1st prototype game! I played the PC version and playing games like these on PC does take time to get use to, because I usually have played games like these on a console, but sadlly I don't own neitther a PS3 or PS4! Not a big fan of XBOX, but I do like Halo, because Halo has a great story! :)
Playing this through right now. So far I'm enjoying it. Finally something a bit different. I think we've exhausted fps anyhow.
having skipped the ps4 gen, this was my first "ps5" game and I loved every minute of it. Kind of bummed they didnt make more in this series.
same just got ps5 today
There is infamous first light it's a prequel to infamous second son you play as fetch
IGN weren't you told not to show unnanounced powers and the neon special move??
Embargo has been lifted.
The embargo was lifted last night or some time around then
The embargo is now lifted.
Tommy Lee Lynn even still the rev3games review didn't spoil the powers I don't see why this one had to spoil it
Honestly I agree with this review for the most part but I'd give it more like a 7.5 or 8 due to 2 more issues in comparison to the last 2 infamous games.
I know hah
I like them. Accuracy is almost always a good thing in my book, and it's not like it has any bad effect.
I like how xbone fanboys tells Playstationers to stop hating on titanfall (an overhyped game), but then they come and hate on Infamous. :P
Damn... that is one pretty fucking game, and it actually has gameplay! (Looking at you Ryse Son of Rome) It's about damn time the real new generation games start coming out. I'm already so fed up with cross-gen shit holding down current gen. Move on already!
As long as its as good or even better than infamous 2, I'll be fine. Infamous 2 was amazing. Can't wait for this to come out tomorrow
Personally, I thought 1 was better than 2
Have a PC from the last four years and can only get one console?
Don't forget about the pedestrian
This game is the shortest I've played yet, I completed it in the afternoon... Damn. I know games are getting shorted because of the costs, but this takes the piss. I hope they bring out DLC that is really worthy and huge in content like a story or something because I really like the game and can't stop playing, but the problem is I'm just jumping around wanting more.
I fell the exact same way. When I was done I was thinking, "That was it?" But it is such a fun game that it didn't really matter. There is still plenty of things to do when the story is over anyway.
It's not short when you finish it again with Good/Evil
malteeaser101 It's short if you rush through it, Doing both good and evil, with a fair amount of free-roaming and side missions? 40 hour long at least.
***** I JUST finished all side missions and collectibles. It could have ONE more string of side quests.
Are you people suggesting that by replaying the same story and by purposely taking longer the story somehow magically gets longer? Wtf no way am I some sort of sheep compromising and trying to justify a £58 purchase with that nonsense.
8.7? What a random rating... but overall reasonable.
Day one pick up.
Did they really have to show some spoilers...
Envision did u buy it now?
I'm a major infamous fan. I beat Second Son once good and once bad just like I did for Infamous 2. After I 100% my Good Story save, I'll play it again on good. The boss battles were easy though. The visuals and gameplay are better than 2 but the story of Infamous 2 was amazing.
I think the game was great. There were some elements like the choice system that could have been fleshed out a bit more in the storyline, but it was still a very good game. I also agree with another commenter that a few times (once or twice) the A.I of one of the NPC's would spazz out. But other than that, this game was a lot of fun to play.
I would really love to play this, it looks amazing. If only I had a PS4 ;__;
Save some money n get prototype 2
w3r0ification lol
is this a troll?
Save even more money n get Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
***** I like Prototype 2.
Its a great and very fun game in my opinion.
I recently bought this game. Just about to finish the story. Worth it even after 5 years.👌
John Schaeffer
That's not what a review should be about.
8.7? That's a stupid score, they should've given it at least an 8.7385
There's a translate option under your comment. Ha ha
dood=death xD
Finally, a game worth playing on both consoles!
PS4 = Infamous SS
Xone = TitanFall
Screw Knack, Ryse, and KZ:Shadowfall
Surely you must be kidding. In a world full of dull FPS multiplayer games, TitanFall is one of the most addictive/satisfying shooters to come out. Obviously, it could've been better, but for a very small-sized development team, they did well.
knack was ok, just repetitive, loved the art style
I'm risking hate here, but it was so balanced, it could give tf2 a run for its money!!
ryse, yeah, it sucked!
don't know about shadowfall, haven't really been into that series, and while on the subject of games, ever heard of the division?
looks promising, you should look it up
hell, what's surprising is the wii u actually has the most diverse lineup so far.
***** I agree Titan fall was fun for maybe a couple of hours but that was it. grew boring very quickly...
Started playing inFAMOUS today, and I couldn't be happier with it :)
To me, It deserves at least a 9.0
This game was visually stunning for a game during that period
My opinion:
It's not a glorious shiny master piece, with unbelieveable story, but what it does it does right.First infamous second son has one thing, that really shines out: "style".You dont really think about smoke neon and video power when thinking about super powers.what is also nice are the charakters.delsin isnt your usual shiny knight in armor.he is a outsider punk or how you call it,with that thing that matters :personalities and so do the other charakters .the others have less, but they're pretty cool considering the short time they had with delsin.the game itself was a little repetitive at times at times and story itself ain't a master piece ethier. in the end it does good in what it is : being a game.
Apparently through dialogue there is also paper, glass, and wood powers. I wonder how paper powers would work?
Weirdpixels Paper cuts.
MichiganerE Paper cuts are pretty evil. Sounds like something the evil karma would have.
You should be a game reviewer. This is a perfect description of how the game is imo. It isnt the best game (what is?) But it did good at what it did.
What a low rating for such an AMAZING game. lol I guess Sony didn't pay them off, and IGN is taking it out on them by scoring the game low.
8.7 out of 10 is amazing for a game like this. I thought it was well deserved. I played through this game and loved all of it. They were right about the morality part that didn't make much sense really but other than that great graphics, characters, visuals, and great storyline.
i miss cole and the lightning powers :(
same here
I found Cole to be quite dull in the second game.
Me too man...
Me too
It's sad he's dead
@@iwillkillyouhehehehe that was the best game
I actually prefered inFamous 1 over this one. Dont get me wrong, Second son is awesome but the story, enemies, moral choises and at some point even your powers were more fun. Also the comicbook like cutscenes were awesome.
I loved this game. Far too short, but it's also technically 2 different main stories due to the fully Good or fully Evil play through options. The powers are awesome, too. They vary depending on which karma you are. I'd pick this up if you haven't yet.
"Makes you feel like the second son"
- IGN
Wait. The reviewer is an infamous fan. But he hates story. Wtf ign gets paid by microsoft. Its obvious
If microsoft paid him, he would have given it around a 3.0
Just because he didn't like the story all that much, doesn't mean he is bought out by microsoft. I've heard complaints about the story from other reviewers too, plus it almost got a nine, it wouldn't have scored so high if he was paid off.
Sony fanboys fail to accept the fact that not every game for the ps4 is perfect
Jake Mcpersonson when i was a kid playing ps1, zero fucks was given for the story.
HeliHijack20 so you say this game is not perfect?
Infamous and Titanfall for me!
God damn this looks fun. I wish I had enough money for a PS4. Oh well, I'll have to wait..
So 5 years later.. did you wind up getting one or what?
Did you get it? Been waiting here for 5 years for any updates.
YaBoyBillson well... did you?
Great, now i want to know aswell.
I hate youtube sometimes...
And I'm waiting in line as well to know whether you made it or not
4:30 he has a good point; if you choose the good karma route, the story goes well with the game. However, the evil karma route doesn't really change all that much about the story. The karma system is definitely one of the low-points. It's also hard to use the good karma weapons like the "comet drop" in combat because you can't hurt ANYONE or the meter goes back to zero.
Graphically still a gorgeous game to look at 4 years on almost
This game is awesome! I don't understand the hate, the only problem I have with this game is the enemies A.I. are sometimes stupid, other than that, the best game on the PS4!
Lol don't you want them to be stupid more fun for you lol stupid ai for enemies good for me I can whoop they ass then
Lol your hilarious you really expect me to type in formal language lol this is TH-cam comments get use to people who don't have the time to type an essay
***** Then what is the best PS exclusive on PS4 now?
This game made me feel like I was playing Jak 2 again! It didnt feel like another gta it felt like an awesome platform game like the jak and daxter series.
Infamous isn't supposed to be anything like GTA in the first place, and none of them have ever felt like GTA....
Can someone tell me why this amazing game got less then a 9.0?????
because IGN is retarded is that the answer your looking for?????
It's just a .3 difference....
cos its story sucks balls
It's not COD
NICK Yes Nick, that seems to be the answer I was looking for....
His review is fair but I still feel that he shouldn't have harped on the karma system. Karma has always been a part of infamous and is a staple of the franchise.
Why didn't Colin review this?
Cuz he is gonna give it a 9.5 or 10 without criticizing it lol
He would give it a bit over 9. It's like how Ryan reviewed Titanfall, if any other reviewer reviewed it, it would have got less than 8.5.
Yeh you guys might be right
A colin cant review a game, its an organ!
Honestly, IGN should disable comments and ratings on all reviews.
I actually think this game deserves a solid 9! I'm really enjoying it, I feel like a super hero! Next playthrough I'm going to be the super villain, can't wait.
Me too
Me to
Me three!
Kind of stupid when it could have just been a nine. I mean the point system shouldn't be there. It's confusing.
Sucker punch should hire telltale to do there whole morality decision making system. Imangine a superhero game with telltales choice system.
I started with Second Son, so yea, I love it as well.
I get where your coming from, but if you played the first two you'd know how good the infamous games CAN be.
Mart R. I know them too, they're awesome. Mostly inFAMOUS 2. But I still love Second Son a lot.
The Vision it's a good game, but the whole story/character parts were missing. I really didn't like that the story was 8-10 hours long, and when you'd meet a character, you would do one mission with them, and they would been thrown away till the end.
Mart R. I agree that in story means it can be better, but I think they have the potential to do that.
i like how ur bro is ready to lock u up for spray painting a billboard then a few hours later u rip ppl apart and he doesnt bat an eye
Quite possibly the best looking game I ever saw
Thumbs up if you hate decimal points in review scores!
This is one of the few games that deserves a 10/10.
Oh the morality system is such a huge step back. Only 1 decision in the entire game feels like an actual conflict! (Not even a very big one if you're generally a forgiving person) All others are "be good or be evil just because..."
Unlike Infamous 1 and 2, there is no motivation to take up the darkside at all...
EliteSniper44 To be honest, I never reakky thought about those 2 games XD
And yes i know them
I personally loved both of them, not for any of the story mind you, but for the action and fun running around. I am possibly getting a ps4 soon, and was thinking of picking this game up for a similar experience as prototype, not for story but for awesome powers and stuff, you think it is a good buy?
EliteSniper44 Yes, this game delivers when it comes to powers.
reapers, dust men and first sons were the best enemies ever, the DUPs are so boring
But the DUP look friggin amazin
Michael Joshua the DUP is literally a reskinned version of the ice conduits
Thank god they did not make Colin review this, he would have scored it a 10 with his bias opinions.
How is he bias? Lmao he went on twitter talking about how weak the story was. Smh idiot.
Bias ? Give me one example where Colin is biased? Colin is an awesome reviewer. He's my favorite at IGN
If anything it would be Greg giving that score
Waaaawaaaa....this game is a 9 at the very least.
