Angelina is the best i have ever encountered in my almost 70 years, either male or female. I can listen to Angelina all day every day and never get tired of that beautiful voice or that beautiful person. Wish all humans were like her.
Every time she she sings “I’m holding out…”, in particular the “I” and “I’m”, my emotions go off the chart… it is amazing that despite having a large number of fans, we remain a “cult following”.
Who can sing like this at age 10? It seems impossible, it's pure magic, a kind of virtual reality, an ability from another world that ridicules most of the professional singers who have done their versions before. What will she not be able to do in the future?
Look up what an original is. You will see that Angelina’s rendition was published before baby fuzz….of the writers. So this is considered an original, though this was a Demo.

I think what Didy was saying is that Angelina could of used more originals that also become hits and this could have been one of them. That said I think her parents/relatives/team not only want to have kept her innocence as long as possible, but also wanted her career not grow too quickly to avoid harsh things that have happened to others who became too famous to fast.

I have 2 more Audio Only songs one is a 10year old singing a Disco song in 2016, "I will Survive" the other is a Christmas song she sang at age 11 for a radio station called "Mary's Boy Child" need to hear both! They are covers but ALL AJ!!

I was about six or seven songs down the Angelina Jordan rabbit hole. I was already in total emotional awe of her. Then I heard this and it stunned me. I sat in total silence for many, many minutes processing what I had just heard, by a ten year old by a no less. I had not had a piece of music sung like that reach so deeply into my spirit. To me, I think about how she has the foundation of all these soulful performances at a young age, the structure of her music future is going to be very strong and a gift to the listening public.

Didy, this song I had never heard before and of course I was blown away by Angelina's voice at 10. Only after going to listen to Baby Fuzz's version did I know what she had done with it. It was at this point that in my mind I knew she was going to be a legend in her own time. She is a superstar right now and my favorite artist. Thumbs up again Didy, so appreciate your reactions.

I found myself degrading Baby's version because he simply doesn't have the vocal skills that Angelina has. I never gave that version a second listen - but AJ's made me appreciate HIS song a lot more. But not his version. If I was Baby's 'people' - managers - I'd try to INSIST her version gets release so "my" songwriter would get massive royalties from it!

Thank you for checking this out. What you’ll see as you go further with Angelina is that she kills songs for anyone else. On this one, or I Put a Spell on You, or some Adele songs, or Stay, or her incredible version of Bohemian Rhapsody-and many more-her cover is your immediate favorite. And, she does that across multiple genres. She is literally a once in a lifetime talent, and her sweet personality comes through in her work.
As you may have read by now, the dark lyrics of this song (“put my head under water”, “even if I drown”) are what we’ve heard Angelina’s family didn’t like and why this wasn’t released. But this shows something you’ll see over and over. It’s Angelina’s ability, even as a very young child, to lead us so convincingly through mature themes as she did here. I don’t believe in reincarnation, as some Angelina fans suggest. I just think we are all so lucky to be here and watch the best singer I’ve ever heard,

is, and has been from the start, a vocal chameleon who can
emulate any vocals she hears. The lizard changes color
instantaneously whenever it wants to, and Angelina can change
her vocal sound also as quickly.

Few if any can express and elicit the deep feelings of passion the way she does. Brilliant. AJ has 320k. Baby Fuss wrote a wonderful song for her. No one has the vocals she has but her arrangement is not gimmicky but simple and straight forward. Such a class act. The best way to hear the details in her voice is with volume. A little more volume makes a huge difference in the experience. Love your reaction. She's got a spell on you, like the rest of us.

Actually, songs by Adele like Easy on me or All I Ask aren't my style of music, but when Angelina covers them, she makes something different, better out of it.
Their songs have soul and every word in them takes the music to a new level.
This song is an excellent example why we fans love and adore Angelina’s other worldly musical gifts so much. Angelina’s vocal ability is an addiction that I do not intend to attempt to break.
with her voice, every song turns to liquid gold. I love how she intentionally exasperatedly sang 'down' and 'drown' at the end. It works. a true musical genius. My wish is someday she licenses this from Baby Fuzz and releaases this AS IS in one of her future albums.
The power of emotion in those two 'sung' words is almost unbearable, gets me every time.
This should be a mega hit for sure.

I really love the arrangement and production of this song. Aksel Carlson and Ronny Janssen did such a great job making this demo. Lot of stories behind this performance, and a bunch of misinformation. So here's what seems to be true: She recorded this as a demo shortly before her 11 birthday. It was not her property to release, but it was leaked almost two years later before the composer and copyright holder, Brandon Lowry, aka Baby Fuzz, released his version. He liked it so much that he left it up, and why wouldn't he because it got much more attention than his version. Many of Angelina's fans, including me, still believe it is one of the best things she has ever done. 😊👍

This is one of my favorite Angelina songs. In fact probably one of the best things she's ever done! She sounds like she's 25 years old and she's only 10. Not only is it the best thing she's ever done but it is probably the most profound recording ever by a 10 year old. The emotion, the nuances and the color in her voice are second to none. The song would have been a huge hit if it were released. From what I've heard, I believe references to suicide are not accurate. There were business and family decisions that caused this not to be released. Thank you so much for reacting to this one.
On another note, there was an artist that I'd like to request you react to who you may or may not be familiar with. Her name is Eva Cassidy. She played during the '80s and '90s as a guitarist and vocalist, singing classics, jazz, and blues. Unfortunately, and tragically, she died in 1996 at the age of only 33 from melanoma. She was fairly well known in her region around Washington DC but not so much outside her area. She did release a couple of albums during that time. However, after her death, she became legendary and known internationally and sold over 10 million records! Her voice is crystal clear and filled with emotion and when she sings you know it is her, just like Angelina.
There was only one video performance of her ever captured at a place called the Blues Alley Lounge, 10 months before her death. It is an amazing concert with 15 or 20 songs in black and white. She became famous for her rendition of Somewhere over the Rainbow, which is one of the best versions ever recorded of the song. She also does Bridge over troubled Water, time after time, songbird, Fields of Gold, and many others. I would request Bridge over troubled Water as a first introduction. Thank you
I believe that Angelina is very aware of Eva Cassidy. Before the last concert at Prøysenhuset they played the album of Eva Cassidy, and over the rainbow was played when Angelina received the golden buzzer at America got talent. They share some of the same improvising skills and also the knowledge of how to create a cover that is as good as the original.

@@didymalgia Ewa was a wonderful singer. Why not listen to Eva and Angelina in the mix, as they sing Sting`s song "Fields of gold", - Angelina is covering Ewa`s wonderful version. Could be a great bridge to even include Eva to the channel if you`re keen on that. She has so many great songs.

Hi Didy! This is something VERY special from Angelina IMO. The production is ONE thing. The way she used her voice and her tonality is another. Then we have the genre. Up until this point in her career (yes, we have to call it a career) she had almost exclusively been singing jazz. Then, all of a sudden, they put her in a studio with a song like this, and THIS is what she was able to do and sound like ? At age friggin' TEN ??? Come on! It was a defining point in her career, maybe not so much for her personally, but for the millions of people who have listened to it. It was the proof of what so many people already knew, and a big relief in a way, too, for many of her fans, at least for me. Let's face it. Although jazz is her very essence and her definite wheelhouse, it still has a rather narrow audience in modern music. Her jazz needs to be introduced when she already has made a name for herself (although she already HAS started that process with stuff like her jazzy Billie Jean for instance), and she can then definitely help jazz hitting a way broader audience than it has today. So the relief for me was to have the proof that she COULD and that she WOULD. This was also the definite point where I finally could lower my shoulders and be 100% sure that she would make it as an artist if she wanted to, and not only that, but also know with certainty that SHE would be the one to set the bar as to HOW big. Because she really has no limits, I think we already had understood that much. Like, who wins a national talent show, singing jazz the way she did it at 7/8 ? WHO ? And who, except Angelina, could do what she did with "I Put A Spell On You" at 9years 2 months, right? We/ I understood right away that she was a HUGE prodigy, but in MY mind there always was this BUT. And that BUT was the genre. Please don't get me wrong; I LOVE jazz and have been listening to it a lot. When I got to hear this song for the first time, she had already begun releasing a few covers, spanning different genres, but like I said, THIS was the performance that finally put my mind at ease. Now that Angelina is 16 we have had proof after proof after proof, and now it's actually just a matter of enduring the waiting game and just enjoy what we get from her through her socials, waiting for the BIG BANG. I can't wait to see how her creative genius will start to build musical bridges between genres. Angelina can do it all.

Didy, IMO, ten year old Angelina’s stunning vocal abilities turned this song into a master work. If it wasn’t banned it would have been a chart topping commercial success. Even to this day and after watching countless reactors respond to hearing this song for the first time I still have a hard time believing this is a ten year old Angelina singing. She sounds like a thirty something mature and seasoned veteran.

Didy, I got a kick out of your ever growing top 3 list, and you are relatively new to Angelina Jordan's magic. I approached it differently. Early on I wrote down my #1 song so I wouldn't forget which one to recommend to friends who had not heard her yet. Today my #1 song comprises 50 titles. I've given up trying to cull it down. I just can't delete any of them because they are all unique in some way. In my last attempt I did find two that I had written down twice. Pretty proud that I scratched the repeats off. 😇😇

So ... I just saw your reaction. This particular video blows my mind every. single. time. I hear it. It is one that I have been known to cry with from the first sound to the end. If I'm feeling emotional and this comes on, I have to simply sit and weep .. with gratitude for the magnificence of her Spirit, her voice, her gentle ways .. her generosity. The video is out and alive. I only hope that Baby Fuzz doesn't give it to someone else to do.

It's so odd to think you're all the way in Norway .. since I've been listening to you and watching you for days now .. funny how as humans we push the viral reality to the expanse of our feelings. I think if we didn't being on TH-cam could be depressing .. but someone with a Soul and Spirit like Angelina can hold us all in her embrace and we get to feel we are truly part of her life .. and each other's lives. I am so grateful that during the first year and a half of COVID, I had her firmly in my life, even though I saw her in 2014 and have been first looking for her then following her. Those two years of grief were held by her voice and uplifting view of life.

I really like your reactions to Angelina..much like my own when I first heard her sing, which was in January 2020 on AGT Champions when she sang Bohemian Rhapsody. It was the best thing I’d ever heard and I immediately did a deep dive into her videos on TH-cam starting with “I’ve Got a Spell On You”. Such a heavenly gift to all us music lovers!! As most Angelina Angels would say, greatest song that was never published regardless of her age here. Just an astonishing superlative vocal masterpiece....period. Glad you have reacted to this one as it is simply mind blowing to say the least. Doubt that there are any singers of any age that could compete with this one. A true, pure music artist and music genius are what you may say but that does not even do Angelina justice. Thanks Didy for reacting to this top 10 billboard song as it would be in that world but, to me, that is not even an adequate accolade for what this little girl did here. BTW, hope you do not mind but I have posted some of your reactions on Angelina's FB fan pages where there are over 20K members, simply because, out of the 1000's of reactors to her, you stand out IMHO.

You are a breath of fresh air in the world of Angel reactors..so many do it for monetization and not that sincere or truly honest...a job so to speak. I am following you to the depths of this journey..it is a great one. BTW, I find it quite astonishing that you actually read all the comments...real Class. Hope you do not mind some of my long diatribes as after 60+ years of listening to all kinds of music I have found this beautiful young artist that just touches my soul every time I listen to her....life is better with Angelina in it.

This song really focuses on an area that AJ doesn't get enough credit for.....her patience. She never rushes. The way she carries and extends vowels and word endings. She has perfected this craft at an age that most singers haven't even started to learn how to do it.
Plethora is just about right for the emotional side of it, just about every emotion imaginable comes rushing in when she starts to sing.
I was happy to see you needed to wipe your eyes as it took me about a month of listening every day to get control of my tear ducts when she opens into this song.
Well if the truth be told it happens with almost all her songs, this uncontrollable rinsing of my tear ducts.
One of the absolute highlight of Angelina's work. Absoluty stunning... not more to say. She recorded that before Baby Fuzz did. Why it wasn't released, there are a lot of speculations. I don't know.
I'm not sure what the definition of a "cover" is. This was actually created before Baby Fuzz made his version so, maybe this version is the "original" and his is the cover. It seems pretty universal that this performance is the preferred one for anyone who has listened to any others. For those of us who have been fans for several years this is one of the highest ranked performances in a long list of Angelina's output. We are very grateful that it was saved and disseminated to give the historical context in the "Life and Legend of Angelina Jordan" that will probably be released in the next century or so.
Apparently she did it first so... Anything else is then a cover.. ;)
@@didymalgia The consensus among Angels seems to be that this was a missed opportunity, sadly consigned to the dustbin of history, but the fact is that this song and this arrangement are still available for any record label to purchase and gift to their latest upcoming star as their debut hit record. Republic Records could do it. If it's true that Angelina herself has such an aversion to the song that she flatly refuses to ever sing it again, there are plenty of other ambitious young artists with sharp elbows who will happily push her aside for a guaranteed chart-topper and a stellar start to their own career. Nobody seems to know who arranged Angelina's demo cover, but my dream is that she re-records it with piano accompaniment only. If she could accompany herself on stage, in a spotlight, it could become the show stopper in her first world tour ... just dreaming ... 🙂🎶

Yes, this performance at 10 years old is astonishing -- particularly when you realize how different it is from her jazz performances at the same age. "Holding Out" is a preview of her current focus: jazzy pop more in the spirit of Adele and Whitney. AJ's range and pitch are always amazing -- this performance is a bit more "produced" which is probably why so many people put it at the top of their AJ list. It's more "modern" than, for example, her performances of "Summertime" which IMO are her best, along with "Bohemian Rhapsody".

It's funny in a way when people refer to the Baby-Fuzz recording as "the original".
He, Baby-Fuzz aka _Brandon Lowry,_ wrote this song in 2016 at a song writers camp in Oslo together with _Aksel "Axxe" Carlson, Ronny Jansen_ & _Frida Amundsen._ Around the same time, these three Norwegian song writers/producers were working with Angelina in the production of her song Shield. I've been told that one day when they had gathered in the _SnakeHips_ studio just outside Oslo, they suggested Angelina to do a voice recording for the song, more like a demo. Some time later, it somehow got published on youtube as a "leaked" material. It was taken down, reappeared on a different channel, disappeared and return until it finally stayed public on the channel where it is now.
Meanwhile, according to himself totally unaware of Angelina's recording, Brandon Lowry tried to find an artist to record the song but after being unsuccessful in this undertaking he decided in 2018 to record it himself and publish it with the _80's style_ music video you've seen.
