Hello. i have been trying to find what the LAST production year was for the M1951 field jacket,before the M-65 came out. I have what I think must be the very last,or one of the very last production dates for the M1951, a '64 dated model. Has the shiny,1st type jungle jacket buttons,not the standard 50's domed/dished kind. Just hoping you could help me as there is nothing I can find on USMF or elsewhere. I think the uniforms from the "Cold War" period are the best looking, with so many variations of color and subdued insignia, you could collect forever and never get 2 the exact same. I even wore one minus all insignia when I deployed to OEF and OIF (as well as a set of 'real' tigerstripes,full OG-107 uniforms ect, just because in the early days there were somewhat lax uniform regs for SOF,so, why not. Isnt every day you can claim you wore those 60+/-year old uniform items in combat! Thank you in advance for any and all help.
Hello Alan, In case you haven't found the information about the last year when m51 was produced, I hope this information would be helpful. Based on my experience, research, and collected field jackets, the last year would be 1965 for contracts as for example DSA-1-8295, DSA-1-8296, DSA-1-8297, etc. The same as the initial contracts for m65 from 1965 (DSA -1-8664, DSA -1-8665, and DSA -1-8666). Recently, I found another interesting piece made by PHILA Q.M. DEPOT CONTRACT NO.10631 also from 1965. I believe that 1965 is the last year when m51 field jackets were made. If we do not count DSA-100-68-C-0079 (Aggressor Sateen Green AG Shade 255 ) from So-Sew (or other contract jackets in AG 255) which is a great m51 - however not in beloved OG107. Kind Regards

You can find them on Ebay and Etsy.com. Just type "M-51 jacket" or "M-65 jacket" (depending wich model you like) and they should pop up for you.
