    My father's field jacket issued in Vietnam 1966-67, had a stow-a-way hood in the collar, button pockets and sleeves , with the zipper / button front. Never have figured out the model

    Love my issue OD green M65 field jacket , best piece of clothing the military ever had. I wear mine fall thru spring. Have two of them. Also I have a original M 43. Then I have original issue M65 woodland camo jacket, can’t beat a field jacket, very tough piece of gear

    Question. I have m51, and I was wondering if an m65 hood and jacket liner would fit? If not, then could I be pointed in a direction to find those items? Thank you.

      The M-65 hood in not detachable. There are plenty of hoods being sold on eBay for the M-51 jacket. Make sure that you pay attention to the size and whether it is a men’s or women’s. Most on eBay are dead stock items. The M-65 Liner won’t attach to the inside of the M-51 but I don’t see an issue of just wearing it as a second garment.

    I have a dated June 1962 field jacket that looks like a M65. It has buttons for closure, no zipper, a sewn in hood buttons on its cuffs and snap button closures for its 4 pockets. I know it was issued or worn by a Air Force member. It’s the second to last jacket shown. What could this jacket be called? Could it be considered a M65?

    • @Ranger504th
      @Ranger504th  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Air Force had jackets from that time frame that had different features than the typical Army or Marine Corps Field Jackets. I am not an expert with Air Force or Navy items but I will take a look at some of my books and see if I can find an answer for you. I have seen a number of Jackets that just had a tag description of OG-107 which is a color not a model but that was the only information given. Also the M-65 was first introduced in 1965 so your jacket has to be an earlier model.

    Question on pricing of the m65 filed jacket. I see some priced at $50 and others priced a $500. All of them seem to be the same blank jackets with no rank or patches on them. Is there a legitimate reason for such a difference in pricing? Are some more rare than others?

    • @Ranger504th
      @Ranger504th  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      The M-65 is fairly common. Typically one in good shape and in a good size should run you about $85. If it is named and has some decent patches it can be of more value. If it has significant history attached such as some type of artwork drawn on the back that pedigrees the piece to an event or to make it like a “tour jacket” or souvenir piece I could see it going for much higher. If it is just a typical blank and is priced at over $100 then the seller is probably inexperienced and doesn’t understand values or fair market value.

      First of all, the value of an M-65 jacket depends on age. jackets from the Vietnam period usually have white aluminum zippers, which were produced before 1972. this is 1 and 2 pattern of m65 jacket. it have only olive color. the most rare M-65 jacket is the first pattern jacket from 1966, which does not have shoulder straps. jackets with brass golden zippers are valued less. its all about contract jackets. commercial jackets are cheaper, except for some exceptions
