Savage Sword was my introduction to the awesome world of Robert E. Howard and my life long love of comic books, thanks to my uncle (We all have that type of uncle) when I was 11 years old. Nothing comes close to those old magazines.
Tony Dezuniga over John Buscema, best ink job ever. I never thought of Buscema as a guy who makes mistakes. Then I compared his Conan inked by others to the Dezuniga inks. Dezuniga blessed him with perfection.
neat-o i regret not buying savage tales 1 when i had the chance. the stupid speculator market drove up the price when man thing was announced for that dumb show and now its the only issue im missing between tales and sword.
I got mine 20 years ago. I paid $90 for a NM- copy. The guy was asking $100+ for it and when I offered him $90 he said, "My dad bought this off the newsstand and kept it prestine for all these years." My response was, "Well, then he only paid 50 cents for it so you're making a huge profit at $90!"
I've been noodling around with a Beyond the Black River book as it's one of the stories that's allegedly public domain. (Spoiler for 90 year old story) - The Pict shaman summons a Saber-Tooth lion and a giant (white) constrictor to eat the sacrifices - so no, not Kazar. Not digging Conan's Vikinglette hat. Solomon Kane vs Dracula, I definitely don't remember from my Solomon Kane anthology.
I love this. I could listen all day.
