    Thanks so much for the support and enthusiasm. All of us on the team are so passionate for the property and excited for the future. I'm also hopeful that printing on future issues works better with the material inside, showcasing everyone's hard work in the best way possible.

      It has all the makings to be a great magazine Jim! Many thanks to you and the team for brining Savage Sword back to all the fans!

      @@GrammaticusBooks I'm focused on the full color monthly series and that takes up most of my time right now, but Ill have more material in upcoming issues of Savage and what I've seen so far is looking really promising. None of it's possible without support from readers, so thank you!

    100% agree on the printing. Hopefully they will get on top of that very soon. The Salomon Kane looked great so obviously it can still be made to work- and I love sword and sorcery with good black and white art.

      Absolutely Sleepy! The original SS looked FANTASTIC as just a black and white mag! I actually prefer a good BW line drawing to a color panel in comics.

    I use to work on weekly grocery flyers printed on news print on a web press. I also worked on ads that were on sheet fed presses on glossy paper. It's not the program its partly the calibration settings on their monitor. Other part is newsprint absorbs ink so files were limited to 120 dots per inch when output, sheet fed was 240 dots per inch, much more ink being put down on the paper. Long time since i did colour correction but that's my diagnosis.

    I think you’re right that the cheaper paper quality has everything to do with the poor quality of the printing of the artwork. I used to produce an art and literary magazine with kids. One year, our artwork came out terribly. Our printer reprinted the whole magazine on a higher quality glossy paper, and everything came out beautifully.
    Another terrific video, Grammaticus.😊

      Thanks Pat and you're undoubtedly correct about the paper quality. The odd thing was the Solomon Kane story printed just fine. So what was the difference there? I'm not completely sure. Different art technique? Different computer program? Cool that you produced a literary and art mag!

      @@GrammaticusBooksthat is strange. I’m not sure what the difference was. Must have been a different technique. Yes, when I taught English, for about the last 25 years of my career, I advised the art and literary magazine. And we hosted coffeehouses too where kids could read their work. It was a great extra-curricular activity for a lot of kids.

      They should be able to PN. The Solomon Kane story printed just fine. I wonder what the difference actually was between it and the Dragon Horde episode? We'll see soon thought if they can!

    Good stuff, i enjoyed your perspective on this too, even though i saw a couple of the other reviews already. ❤ And that map looks like a patch of moldy wallpaper 😂

    • @GrammaticusBooks
      @GrammaticusBooks  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, the map was probably the worst effected graphic in the book. But if Titan can correct this, it should be an excellent new line for them. Fingers crossed.......

    I really don’t understand why they went with newsprint. Nostalgia only goes so far! 😅

    • @GrammaticusBooks
      @GrammaticusBooks  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Maybe trying to keep that price point at $7.00?

    • @StygianDogs
      @StygianDogs 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think price point is key...nostalgia too. I honestly feel that if it was presented in a different format it'd be a big failure. But imagine if it was printed on better stock...it'd be exorbitant price-wise. I still think the main story is great. But I've read sooo much of the latter year stuff recently - and it can get really cheesy and bad. So this was a nice change. And I'll argue on defense of Fafner till my last breath. 😂 Definitely printing issues. I'm not too bothered... But so disappointed to see how the Baerald map turned 😩 weird how the printing looks okay on camera though! I've contemplated leaving the pages out in the sun! Thanks for the shout out GB! And excellent review!

    Really unfortunate when your Hyborian Age map looks worse than the ones printed in the old Lancer books from the 1960s.

    I am reading the digital verison. The images are much more brighter and clearer.
    Personally loved Fafner's art, photorealistic but good action.
    The Arcudi tale was fine but had some silly elements like why wouldn't that humongous T Rex just break down that wooden gate and Conan just blindly walking into that "gold mine" without forcing the prince to come with him is contrived.

    • @GrammaticusBooks
      @GrammaticusBooks  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Good review. I read the digital version. I gave it an overall score of 8. Loved everything but Dragon Horde. Ugly art. Terrible prose. Patch Zircher nailed Solomon Kane. The real high point of the book.

    • @GrammaticusBooks

      The digital version is night and day different from the hard copy. Not sure how or why the Solomon Kane story came out so much better though.

    Seems a rather uneven issue. A few flaws. Appears to have a different cover here.

    • @GrammaticusBooks
      @GrammaticusBooks  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Several alternate covers. Which I'm not a huge fan of but I understand why they do it. And with multiple entries from different artists and writers there's bound to be some variance. I would have liked a stronger entry for the main story in issue #1 though.

  • @maxmacias1967

    Totally right on. The art in that conan story was horrible. It might have to do with the printing process, but I'm not a fan of the art in general. The Solomon Kane story was drawn much better.
