Great perspective about Nairobi. Hopefully you understand Kenya is the land of diversity. Next time get to visit the other 46 counties, starting with the coastal areas. Welcome to Kenya! Greetings from Mombasa County! Much love and respect.
Kenya and South Africa have a lot in common, but sadly it is mostly a history of colonialism and apartheid. Kenya and SA were popular settler colonies. Settler farmers from South Africa came to Kenya for the same reasons. The State of Israel was supposed to be in Kenya, with a few Jews settling in Uasin Gishu, Kenya, a move that Boers opposed as they considered it their land. Palestine was chosen instead and the refugees left. Settler farmers left for South Africa in 1960’s when Kenya forced them to apply for citizenship or leave. Most Indians, British and Boers* left for UK and South Africa. Sadly, Kenya never condemned apartheid and it supported Israel in many things. South Africa has so many places named after Kiswahili words and Kenyan towns. One of Nairobi’s famous streets is Luthuli Avenue, named after South African activist Albert Luthuli; there is Jabavu Lane named after John Tengo Jabavu. Soweto is one of the low income neighborhoods of Nairobi. I guess we have more Soweto neighborhoods across Kenya. When SA softened visa requirements for Kenyans, there are hundreds of Kenyan tourists visiting South Africa weekly mostly via road. Language and food is another point of convergence. Kenyans learn a lot about South Africa from primary school. A Kenyan kid will tell you about South African villages where activists like Sisulu, Tambo, Mandela, Tutu were born and the schools they attended.
nope. kenya was very active in anti apartheid struggle..read about mandela and his trip to kenya. and kenya leader used to sneak money to be given to ANC because they thought mandela will be killed in jail by white government. its Congolese who were in bed with apartheid government
Very true...As Kenyans we've been taught in our schools so so much about SA ....They know very little or nothing about our struggles which surprisingly are somehow similar
But that part of State of Israel though is not true. It was Uganda that the British suggested to create the Jewish state. And, Palestine as it was then was not just "chosen instead". The Jews never wanted anywhere else. They didn't just want a state, but on that land, which they consider their historical ancestral homeland. Now, supporting Israel was not Kenya's mistake at the time. It was giving in to the British pressure to not condemn or cut ties with the Apartheid state in South Africa. A stain that Moi's regime left on us for many more decades.
@@patriot_2022 the whole of Western Kenya was considered part of Uganda. Uganda boundary was at Naivasha which is less than 2 hours from Nairobi. The actual location of Uganda where the Jews settled was Uasin Gishu, which is currently in Kenya - an area considered to be Kenya's grain basket where maize and wheat comes from.
@@felixmakinda7689 what I find online as part of the Uganda colonial map in 1903 has only a small part of Western Kenya, and does not even cover the area of today's Uasing Gishu County. It cuts into Kenya further North and takes the whole western shores of Lake Turkana. "The Uganda Plan" as proposed by a British official to temporarily settle Jews in Uganda before resolution of the Palestine issue then, was in 1903. The other scheme you are referring to of most of Rift Valley being in Uganda was in the 18s. Way before the British had even decided what they really wanted here, and before that idea of a Jewish state in East Africa even started

Thanks for appreciating our beautiful coutry kenya

@Zack...Good review about Nairobi, Kenya. ❤❤❤ Most hotels here allow visitors to visit the pool bars, restaurants and swim too..there's really no "private pools"😅...I'm also shocked why you had to struggle getting a simcard...they are sold everywhere, anytime and all day. Lastly, you crossed over the New Year in the wrong place definitely 😅😅 You should have gone to a Club. Cheers🎉
